Veritas Kanban v5 GA Checklist
v5.0.0 stable is published. This checklist remains the operator reference for release-gate review, follow-up evidence debt, and future v5 patch candidates. The GitHub release and release issues remain the source of scheduling truth.
For future candidates, use v5 Release Candidate Evidence Packet as the single evidence target. The packet is the place to link command output, workflow runs, signed artifact URLs, checksums, notarization proof, load results, mobile/PWA smoke proof, and accepted limits.
Required Release Gates
- Fresh install verifies the desktop app can start the bundled server, load the renderer, and create or open a board.
- Upgrade verifies a v4 file-backed project can migrate to SQLite and can recover through the rollback drill.
- Backup and restore verifies SQLite data, task files, settings, templates, attachments, workflow state, and audit history.
- Data lifecycle controls define retention, export, deletion, privacy, and support-bundle redaction policy for durable v5 data classes. Track the contract in v5.0 data lifecycle controls.
- Maintenance Center verifies health, storage usage, redacted log tails,
debug bundles, backup/import reporting, and cleanup previews. Track the
contract in v5.0 Maintenance Center. Seeded
debug-bundle redaction evidence is covered by
server/src/__tests__/maintenance-service.test.ts. - Multi-user mode verifies workspace switching, memberships, invitations, scoped API tokens, actor attribution, and RBAC denial paths.
- Remote mode verifies the ADR 0002 remote posture: pairing, trusted-host validation, token/session lifecycle, WebSocket sync, proxy headers, service-worker assumptions, and local-only secret handling.
- Security review covers desktop bridge calls, auth/session handling, scoped tokens, remote access, workflow execution, and agent tool gates. Track evidence and blockers in v5.0 security review notes. Browser password sessions must become persisted per-user sessions before multi-user/server-mode GA, or the release must explicitly limit password sessions to single-owner local deployments.
- Governance decision traces verify policy, tool-policy, agent-permission,
routing, and workflow-gate decisions include matched rules, remediation,
redacted raw detail, API access through
/api/governance/traces, and UI drilldown from the Decision Audit Trail. - Skill capability profiles verify shared skill resources declare required capabilities, observed static behavior is classified through the canonical taxonomy, mismatches write audit events, remediation tasks can be created, and the Shared Resources UI exposes declared, observed, and mismatch state.
- Skill security scanner verifies local skill directories and single
SKILL.mdfiles, produces redacted JSON and Markdown reports, persists audit artifacts, exposes an admin-only maintenance scan action, feeds the Shared Resources Skill Risk Dashboard, creates remediation tasks and temporary exceptions, blocks unsafe install decisions in remote/cloud workflow gates, and keeps malicious plus benign fixture contracts in CI. - Performance/load review covers SQLite read/write paths, dashboard queries, WebSocket fan-out, workflow run updates, and remote/mobile clients. Track evidence and limits in v5.0 performance and load test notes.
- Docs cover upgrade, desktop install, remote access, admin operations, backup/restore, diagnostics, visual walkthroughs, and known platform limits, with ADR 0002 as the remote/server-mode security baseline. The dummy-data documentation media set lives in v5 Visual Tour; candidate proof belongs in the reusable evidence packet or the linked GitHub release issue.
- Compatibility and release policy covers desktop/server/API/SQLite/CLI/MCP, PWA/mobile, workflow, WebSocket, migration, updater channel, staged rollout, stale-client, and rollback behavior. Track the contract in v5 Compatibility And Release Policy.
- Upgrade, install, remote, mobile/PWA, admin, backup/restore, diagnostics, and first-run setup docs are linked from v5 Upgrade, Install, Remote, And Admin Guide.
- Release notes include breaking changes, migration warnings, artifact requirements, documentation links, and deferred post-GA backlog. Track the stable notes in v5.0 Release Notes.
pnpm validate:releasepasses afterpnpm build, including root/shared, server, web, CLI, MCP, and desktop package version alignment plus required release documentation checks.- Post-GA backlog exists for deferred Linux, Windows, native mobile, cloud sync/SaaS, and deeper desktop agent workbench scope: #541, #542, #543, #544, and #545.
Mantine component-system cleanup gate
Run this gate before closing #418, #417, or the v5 release checklist issue.
- Run
pnpm --filter @veritas-kanban/web buildbefore the bundle check. - Run
pnpm qa:mantineand keep the output in the PR verification notes. - Run
pnpm test:e2e -- e2e/mantine-qa-gate.spec.tsand keep the generated visual and accessibility evidence attached to the Playwright run. - Confirm visual smoke screenshots cover desktop dark mode, desktop light
mode, mobile dark mode, and the checked-in documentation captures in
docs/assets/v5/for every current v5 GA route. - Confirm keyboard navigation, focus traps, screen-reader names, reduced horizontal overflow, and mobile touch-target checks pass for board, task detail, create task, settings, command/search, and auth/setup flows.
- Confirm current route coverage includes board, activity, backlog, archive, templates, workflows, drift, decisions, scoring, policies, dashboard surfaces on the board, and the migrated overlays.
- Track planned-but-not-yet-present surfaces as temporary holdouts instead of marking them covered. Current holdouts: unified work products, maintenance center, workflow visual builder, and final run replay view.
- Confirm no v5 GA-blocking route imports the old primitive compatibility wrappers except explicitly retained custom surfaces and wrapper internals.
- Confirm no
shadcnpackage, direct@radix-ui/react-*package, orvendor-radixbundle chunk is present. - Confirm bundle budgets remain within the
pnpm qa:mantinethresholds or record an explicit release-risk acceptance.
Final Release Validation Commands
Run these before any future stable publication or v5 patch promotion:
pnpm install --frozen-lockfile
pnpm typecheck
pnpm lint:budget
pnpm test:unit
pnpm build
pnpm validate:release
pnpm smoke:cli-mcp
pnpm desktop:package:mac:unsigned
pnpm test:load:smoke
After the tag and GitHub release exist:
pnpm validate:release -- --github --repo BradGroux/veritas-kanban
Signed publishing requires the Desktop Release workflow with the Apple
signing/notarization secrets from Desktop Release. Record
the workflow run URL, artifact URLs, and updater metadata URLs in the release
notes and the v5 Release Candidate Evidence Packet
for each candidate that needs retained evidence.
Final Sign-Off Notes
Each release candidate should link the PRs or workflow runs that satisfy the gates above from v5 Release Candidate Evidence Packet or the linked GitHub issue. If a gate is intentionally deferred, link the follow-up issue and state the user-visible risk in release notes.
