fix(proxy): bill partial Responses API streams when the client disconnects (#47611)
* fix(proxy): bill partial Responses API streams when the client disconnects
Streamed /v1/responses requests and the default-route OpenAI and Azure /v1/messages requests behind them logged a 499 with zero spend when the client went away mid-stream, while /v1/chat/completions already billed the chunks it had sent. The Responses API iterator now keeps the response.created payload and can hand the disconnect cleanup a response.incomplete event with counted usage and the served service_tier, and the messages-route byte stream and router wrappers delegate to it.
* fix(proxy): satisfy lint gates for partial Responses API disconnect billing
Make the disconnect helper public so the proxy, router and messages adapter can import it without reportPrivateUsage, type the SSE byte stream as an AsyncGenerator so aclose is known, read litellm_call_id off the logging object, and keep the new tests on Final locals with the recorder injected through dynamic_async_success_callbacks instead of litellm.callbacks.
* fix(router): bill the primary stream's tokens after a mid-stream hop and chat-bridge Responses streams on disconnect
The router's fallback wrapper now folds the primary Responses stream's relayed tokens into the fallback's disconnect event the way _combine_responses_fallback_usage does for a natural end of stream, and LiteLLMCompletionStreamingIterator (chat-only providers served through /v1/responses) builds its disconnect event from the chat completion chunks it collected. stamp_responses_usage_cost is now public so the bridge module can price that event.
* Potential fix for pull request finding 'CodeQL / Log Injection'

fix(proxy): flush the spend-log queue only for Responses turns the bridge reads back (#47614)
Every /v1/responses spend log asked its worker to flush the queue right away so a
chained previous_response_id could find the row. Only the chat-completions bridge
reads that row. Native Responses providers hold the conversation upstream, so their
rows now wait for the batch write like chat rows do

feat(proxy): write one spend row per billed timed-out retry attempt (#47416)
_failure_spend_rows yields the final row plus one re-keyed row per lifted billed_failed_attempts entry (<request_id>-attempt-<position>, the attempt's usage, cost, retry count and deployment id), each written through DBSpendUpdateWriter.update_database so it also deducts from key, team and user spend

feat(proxy): lift every earlier billed timed-out retry attempt onto the failed request (#47490)
* feat(proxy): lift every earlier billed timed-out retry attempt onto the failed request
_billed_earlier_attempts reads the router's previous_models records, keeps the Timeout ones other than the final attempt (matched on deployment_id plus attempted_retries, since the count restarts after a fallback hop and the fallback handler re-logs the exhausting attempt) and prices each at the deployment that served it. post_call_failure_hook lifts the tuple as billed_failed_attempts; nothing writes it yet. previous_models joins the router-reserved metadata fields so a client-planted record never reaches it
* fix(proxy): price earlier timed-out attempts from the prompt estimate only
The final row may lift a mid-stream recovered usage (prompt plus delivered chunks) or a failed_attempts_usage sum; earlier attempts never produced output, so they are priced from _estimated_prompt_usage, and when failed_attempts_usage already bills them into the final row none is lifted again

fix(litellm_proxy): forward tool_config cache_control_injection_points to the downstream proxy (#47570)
PR #47394 withheld cache_control_injection_points from the OpenAI SDK extra_body for
every provider on that path, which also covers litellm_proxy. The downstream LiteLLM
proxy applies the point itself, so litellm_proxy keeps forwarding it while OpenAI and the
other OpenAI-compatible providers still never receive it

fix(logging): report the pay-as-you-go entry billing used on Azure PTU spillover (#47567)
get_standard_logging_object_payload decided custom_pricing from
litellm_params alone, so on an Azure PTU spillover response
model_map_information kept the deployment's zeroed PTU entry while
response_cost already used the standard model rate. Reuse the billing
side LitellmLogging._custom_pricing_for so both read the same decision

fix(register_model)!: keep bedrock geo deployments priced across price data reloads (#41523)
* fix(register_model): keep bedrock geo deployments priced across price data reloads
A request-time pricing registration inserting into litellm.model_cost while a
price data reload walked it could abort the reload (dictionary changed size
during iteration in add_known_models), or trip the lookup map rebuild inside
get_model_info so the deployment replay fell through to the unmapped path and
wrote a raw bedrock/au.anthropic.<model> entry with no token pricing, a $0
shadow re-rolled on every later reload. Walk snapshots of the map, bind the
case-insensitive lookup map locally, and let the unmapped path inherit the
whole built-in entry of a provider get_model_info would accept.
* fix(register_model): keep synthesized zero costs out of inherited built-in pricing
An unmapped alias that inherits its built-in entry now takes only the token
prices the catalogue really carries, so a synthesized zero never lands next to
the caller's custom price. The router regression test reports the writer's
failures instead of swallowing them, and the local names carry Final.
* fix(register_model): match inherited built-ins by the key provider prefix when the value names none
* fix(utils): resolve a tripped lookup from the key's own catalog row before its region sibling
* fix(register_model): keep custom flat prices above inherited tier rates
* fix(register_model): keep the other direction's tier rates when a custom flat price covers one
* fix(register_model): keep a catalog row's tiers when its lookup trips, and snapshot request-path cost map walks
A tripped get_model_info on a key that is itself a catalog row now inherits that row whole, so a custom flat price bills a long prompt at the row's above-threshold rate on both lookup paths instead of flipping until the next reload. The fal_ai, fireworks, ollama and gpt-5 request-path walks over litellm.model_cost iterate a snapshot so a concurrent reload cannot raise mid-request.
* fix(register_model): price route-prefixed geo keys on a tripped lookup and replace cost map entries atomically
* fix(register_model): move every alias of a cost map entry to its registered price
* perf(register_model): read alias names from the shared entry instead of scanning the cost map
Each registration scanned every cost map entry to find the names sharing it,
about 1 ms on the 4,189-entry map, and a proxy request to a custom-priced
deployment registers twice. Aliased entries now carry the names they are
served under, so a registration reads them directly, and an alias the caller
pointed at its own entry keeps that entry. The tests this PR added lose their
docstrings
* fix(utils): keep capability flags and write through on a tripped lookup in register_model
A key the lookup cannot map now seeds its registered entry from the capability
rules its unregistered lookup resolves to, so registering a region alias no
longer turns off supports_system_messages and similar flags. A lookup that
trips mid-walk on a key naming a catalog row writes into that row instead of
leaving a shadow key that goes stale. Adds regression tests for both and for
the request-path snapshot walks.
* fix(utils): retry a tripped registration lookup and rebuild a registration a reload races
A lookup a concurrent write trips is retried instead of writing into the
catalog row its key names, so a per-request price never reprices a shared
row. The inherited entry leaves the matched row's provider behind, so a
provider-less azure_ai key stays priced, and a registration whose map a
reload swapped mid-build is rebuilt from the new map.
* fix(utils): write each registration into the map it was built from and rebuild it when a reload replaced that map
* test(integration): price data reload keeps every registered deployment priced

fix(vertex_ai): bill per-character text embeddings on Google's billableCharacterCount (#47460)
Vertex text embedding predict responses report metadata.billableCharacterCount, the
unit Google bills text-embedding-005 and text-multilingual-embedding-002 on. Carry it
into usage.prompt_tokens_details.character_count and, when the model carries
input_cost_per_character, bill that count instead of the token count so the prompt is
charged under one unit. Per-token embeddings (gemini-embedding-001) are unchanged.

fix(anthropic): apply tool_config cache-control points on chat and /v1/messages (#47394)
* fix(anthropic): apply tool_config cache-control points on chat and /v1/messages
A cache_control_injection_points entry with location tool_config was spread into
the Anthropic request body on /v1/chat/completions, which Anthropic rejected with
400 Extra inputs are not permitted, and the native /v1/messages path dropped the
point silently. Both paths now put the point's control on the last tool Anthropic
caches and never forward the key.
Co-authored-by: Tan Nguyen <tan@pressingly.net>
* refactor(anthropic): validate tool_config inputs instead of casting them
Keeps the lint gates flat: the helper takes untyped tools and points and
narrows them with the existing object validators, the chat transform builds
the body with the marked tools instead of writing into optional_params, and
the handler reads a typed view of kwargs.
* fix(openai): keep tool_config cache points out of extra_body, add integration test
The cache hook hands a tool_config point on for the provider step, and for
providers that call through the OpenAI SDK every non-OpenAI param rides in
extra_body, so OpenAI answered 400 Unrecognized request argument supplied.
The new integration file drives a live proxy against scripted Anthropic,
Bedrock Converse and OpenAI upstreams for /v1/chat/completions and
/v1/messages.
* test(integration): cover tool_config cache points on bridged /v1/messages
Three new cases on /v1/messages for models without a native Anthropic
messages path: OpenAI through the Responses bridge and Gemini through the
chat bridge never see cache_control_injection_points in the body, and
Bedrock Nova through the chat bridge gets the cachePoint on toolConfig

fix(logging): report the cost-map entry billing used in model_map_information (#47182)
* fix(logging): report the cost-map entry billing used in model_map_information
Billing resolved the deployment's own cost-map entry and logging ran a second,
name-only lookup, so callbacks and spend logs showed the catalog rates for a
custom-priced deployment. completion_cost now stores the entry it billed from on
the logging object and the standard logging payload reads it, falling back to the
old lookup only when billing never ran.
* fix(logging): pass the deployment id into the logging cost-map lookup
Drop the logging-object plumbing and keep the lookup where it was:
get_standard_logging_object_payload now hands the deployment id to
get_model_cost_information as router_model_id, the same id billing uses, so
the deployment's own cost-map entry is reported instead of the catalog entry.
* test(logging): mirror the proxy metadata in the deployment-price regression test
* fix(logging): keep the catalog model_map_key, report only the deployment's own rates

fix(openai): drop unsupported reasoning effort for gpt-6.1-sol (#43935)
* fix(openai): drop unsupported reasoning effort for gpt-6.1-sol
gpt-6.1-sol accepts low, medium, high, xhigh, and max. none and minimal were still forwarded, because chat completions ignored an explicit supports_none_reasoning_effort=false and the Responses mapper never applied that contract.
Co-authored-by: Cursor <cursoragent@cursor.com>
* fix(openai): mark the stripped reasoning object as outgoing JSON
Co-authored-by: Cursor <cursoragent@cursor.com>
* Fix Azure responses reading the OpenAI effort map
gpt-6-astra on Azure accepts reasoning.effort none. The responses gate was checking the OpenAI entry, which rejects it.

Co-authored-by: Cursor <cursoragent@cursor.com>
* fix(openai): gate every reasoning_effort level from the cost map on chat and Responses
One gate reads the model's cost-map row for whatever effort level a request
asks for, on Chat Completions and the Responses API, for OpenAI and Azure.
xhigh stays opt-in on chat (Azure also keeps none opt-in); every other level
is refused only when its supports_<level>_reasoning_effort flag is false. A
refused level is dropped under drop_params or answered with a local 400, and
Responses keeps the rest of the reasoning object when it drops effort. The
guards that follow judge temperature by the level the provider will see.
Tests move into the mapped test files and derive the expected outcome for
each level from the map row, so a new GPT-6 model needs only its row.
* test(openai): pin gpt-6.1-sol's refused effort levels and prove the row flags alone drive the gate
* fix(cost-map): azure gpt-6-astra refuses none and honors max on Responses, as live calls show
* test(reasoning_effort): pin the astra max and none flips through the adapter and Foundry paths
* fix(reasoning_effort): keep max out of the route gates and correct the gpt-5.3-codex rows
The same model honors max on Responses and refuses it on Chat Completions, so one row flag
cannot gate it on either route. The gates now skip max, the Azure gpt-6-astra rows keep max
off so the /v1/messages adapter degrades to xhigh and /model_group/info stops short of it as
on main, and chat still forwards max for the Responses bridge.
The gpt-5.3-codex rows said none and xhigh off and minimal on; the live model answers the
other way round (2026-10-01), and an opt-out gate would have dropped the levels Codex CLI sends.
* fix(reasoning_effort): bridge function tools to Responses when the chat gate drops none
* docs(reasoning_effort): correct the max advertisement note
* fix(azure_ai): read the Foundry row on the Responses effort gate and turn none off for Azure gpt-6.1-sol
* fix(azure): gate a prefixed Foundry deployment's Responses effort off its row
litellm.responses(model="azure_ai/<deployment>", api_base=<Foundry host>) is
re-routed to the azure provider with the azure_ai/ prefix intact, so the Azure
Responses config saw a prefixed name, skipped it as another provider's
pass-through, and forwarded none and minimal to Azure even under drop_params.
The Azure gpt-5 resolver also read no row at all for a prefixed name.
The Azure Responses gate now detects the family the way the Azure chat gate
does, and an azure_ai/ name on the Azure OpenAI configs reads its azure_ai/ row
when the map has one, else the azure/ twin, the rule the Foundry chat config
already applies to the same deployment.
* fix(cost-map): turn none off on azure/eu/gpt-6-astra like its sibling rows
* docs(reasoning_effort): say how each gate reads none and shorten the module docstring
* fix(azure_ai): call the public effort-level check from the Foundry Responses gate
* test(reasoning_effort): fold the Foundry Responses tests into the mapped file and type the row helpers

fix(proxy): authorize the public name of a team-scoped model on batch retrieve/cancel (#47067)
* fix(proxy): authorize the public name of a team-scoped model on batch retrieve/cancel
A unified batch id resolves to the deployment's internal model_name
(model_name_{team_id}_{uuid}), which is in no key or team allowlist, so
authorize_model_for_key always denied and team keys got 403 retrieving or
cancelling their own batches. Authorize against model_info
team_public_model_name when the resolved deployment is team-scoped, falling
back to the resolved name otherwise.
Fixes #46958
* fix(proxy): authorize team-scoped batch models by their public name on both auth paths
* fix(proxy): accept the owning team's public name for its own team deployment on every auth path
Managed batch, file, fine-tuning, vector store, character and video ids resolve to the
team deployment's internal name again, so teams that granted the internal name keep access.
The model access check now also accepts the owning team's public name and its legacy team
aliases for that internal name, and only when the caller's team owns the deployment.

fix(rust): add the dangerous-tool-use beta when an anthropic /v1/messages request carries safeguards (#46102)
* fix(rust): add the dangerous-tool-use beta when an anthropic /v1/messages request carries safeguards
* test(rust): check the dangerous-tool-use beta reaches the wire with safeguards
* fix(rust): derive the dangerous-tool-use beta only for hosts with a beta map column
DeepSeek and the other hosts without a column in anthropic_beta_headers_config.json
keep forwarding safeguards and client betas as sent. Adds the wire-level audit tests.
* fix(rust): add the safeguards beta on Azure AI and Claude Platform hosts
Azure AI and Claude Platform Messages transforms now add the
dangerous-tool-use beta for a non-null safeguards field, through the
Azure AI and Anthropic beta-map columns. The safeguards wire and chaos
tests get unique file names so they do not collide with the Python
fix's tests, the Python-route test asserts the fixed behavior behind a
BUG skip, and the DeepSeek test checks that no beta is added
* fix(rust): keep Claude Platform out of the safeguards beta until a route can prove it
Claude Platform has no beta-map column and no QA account, so it goes back to sending
safeguards with no derived beta, like DeepSeek. Also release held chaos-test requests
before the thread pool waits on them, and mark the no-column test as rstest.
* fix(rust): derive the safeguards beta for Claude Platform and keep the null-cell test off Databricks
Claude Platform on AWS answers 400 to safeguards without dangerous-tool-use-2026-09-03 and 200 with it, so its Messages transform derives the beta through the Anthropic column again. The null-cell case now uses only Bedrock Converse, since Databricks support for the beta is changing in a sibling PR.
* fix(rust): drop a null safeguards key instead of sending it without its beta
Anthropic rejects any safeguards key, null included, when the
dangerous-tool-use beta is missing, so an explicit "safeguards": null on the
Rust gateway still answered 400. The shared Messages transform now drops a
null safeguards key on every host, as the proxy already drops None params
before calling Rust, so it answers 200 with no beta.
The scripted peer in the integration wire tests now rejects the key on
presence, matching the real API.
* test: cover Bedrock Mantle in the null safeguards case and match the vendor's non-list wording
The Rust null-safeguards regression test now also runs for bedrock_mantle, whose beta is keyed on the field being present. The scripted Anthropic peer answers a non-list safeguards value with the real API's "valid array" wording.

fix(anthropic): add the dangerous-tool-use beta when a /v1/messages request carries safeguards (#43955)
* fix(anthropic): add the dangerous-tool-use beta when a /v1/messages request carries safeguards
* test(azure_ai): pin the outgoing Foundry request keeps the dangerous-tool-use beta next to safeguards
* test(azure_ai): inject the Foundry client and scope the beta cache reset to the test
* test(azure_ai): own and close the mock transport client, drop the docstring entry
* test(integration): audit the safeguards beta derivation across anthropic-compatible providers
* fix(github_copilot): keep safeguards from deriving the dangerous-tool-use beta
* test(integration): kill the chaos victim worker through the harness helper
* fix(anthropic): derive the dangerous-tool-use beta only where the beta map supports it and honor additional_drop_params
The safeguards beta is now added only for providers whose beta map column accepts it, so github_copilot, Eden AI and the OpenAI-compatible JSON providers keep their base wire. additional_drop_params now runs before the provider headers are built, so a dropped param no longer drives its derived beta.
* fix(anthropic): load the beta map off the event loop and pin a dropped context_management
The first /v1/messages request that needs the remote beta map now loads it in a worker thread,
so a slow fetch no longer stalls every other request on the worker. An integration cell pins that a
deployment dropping context_management sends neither the field nor its derived beta.
* fix(anthropic): load the beta map only for safeguards requests, once per worker
* fix(anthropic): gate safeguards on the bundled beta map and load the remote map on its own thread

fix(ui): take the dashboard's user role and identity from the server (#47025) (#47224)
* fix(ui): take the dashboard's user role and identity from the server
Adds an internal GET /management/v1/users/me that returns the user id, role
and email the proxy resolved for the calling key. The dashboard now reads
identity from it instead of the session cookie's claims, so its navigation and
role gating always match what the backend authorizes. The layout waits on it
behind the existing loading screen, and a failed lookup clears the session and
returns to login. Sessions that must change their password can also read it
* fix(ui): sign out when the current user lookup fails and wait for it on chat
The dashboard layout now holds the loading screen and signs out when
/management/v1/users/me fails, instead of mounting the shell and looping back
to loading as each consumer refetched the failed query. The chat layout also
waits for the identity so its panels never query without a user id. The
lookup goes through the typed client with the regenerated schema.d.ts
* fix(ui): send the session's auth header on the first user lookup and keep chat closed until authorized
The first lookup runs before AuthProvider registers the custom header name, so it now reads auth_header_name from the session cookie. Chat also waits for isAuthorized, so a failed lookup no longer mounts the shell with an empty user id
* fix(ui): type the dashboard callers of the now typed user id
useAuthorized used to hand back the cookie's user id untyped, which hid six strict type errors in its callers. The id is now string | null, so the production build failed. Callers handle the null case, and query key filters accept the boolean blocked filter
* fix(ui): look up the current user only after the proxy URL is discovered
Pages outside the dashboard shell, like chat and connect, could start the lookup before UI config discovery set the proxy base URL. On a split-origin deployment both attempts then hit the UI origin and a valid session was signed out
* fix(ui): keep a loaded identity while UI config discovery reruns
Pausing the lookup by passing a null token switched the query key, so on the dashboard the identity the layout had already loaded vanished until the shell's own UI config request finished. The key now stays the same and only the fetch waits for discovery

fix(bedrock): backport #46307 and #46524 to rc/1.107.0 (#47157)
* fix(bedrock)!: stream Converse passthrough frames through post_call guardrails instead of buffering (#46307) * test(integration): Converse stream post_call guardrail relays frames as they arrive (LIT-9515) * fix(bedrock): stream Converse passthrough frames through post_call guardrails instead of buffering (LIT-9515) A post_call guardrail that scans through apply_guardrail now runs on /bedrock/.../converse-stream the way it runs on /v1/messages: frames reach the caller as the upstream sends them, every fifth frame and the end of the stream are scanned, and a block after the first frame ends the stream with an AWS exception frame. streaming_buffer_until_moderated still holds the stream and applies masks per content block. Guardrails that need the whole response (own async_post_call_success_hook, mask_response_content, native hooks, policy pipelines) keep the buffered path. * fix(bedrock): apply held Converse stream masks when the upstream ends with an exception frame (LIT-9515) * fix(proxy): log a relayed passthrough stream's spend before its mid-stream failure hook (LIT-9515) * fix(bedrock): close and report every way a relayed Converse stream ends (LIT-9515) - The framer ends the stream with an empty item once the upstream closes, so held masks are applied whether the upstream ends with messageStop, an exception or error frame, or a dropped connection - A guardrail HTTPException after the first frame reaches the relay, which logs the stream's spend, runs the failure hook and ends the stream with the exception frame, instead of ending inside the guardrail with no failure row - A failure before the first frame waits for the stream's spend to be logged, as a mid-stream failure does - Closing the response before its body starts closes the guardrail layers and the upstream - Each stacked guardrail layer gets its own copy of every frame, so an earlier layer's end-of-stream rewrite never reaches frames a later layer still holds - Deltas whose text ends in half a surrogate pair are decoded with the standard JSON parser * fix(bedrock): relay a Converse frame whose payload is not UTF-8 instead of ending the stream (LIT-9515) * test(integration): cover Converse stream relay failure, end-of-stream-only, stacked, disconnect and burst cells (LIT-9515) * fix(bedrock): estimate prompt tokens for a passthrough stream cut before Bedrock reports usage (LIT-9515) Bedrock sends usage only in the last frame of a stream, so a stream ended by a guardrail block or a client disconnect logged 0 prompt tokens while AWS still charges for the prompt. The stream collector now estimates them from the request the way chat completions streams do * fix(bedrock): read tool result blocks without recursion in the passthrough prompt estimate (LIT-9515) * fix(passthrough): keep the spend flush running when the wait for it is cancelled (LIT-9515) * fix(bedrock): keep a converse-stream buffered when its guardrail releases a held stream on scan (LIT-9515) A held post_call guardrail with streaming_buffer_release_on_scan releases each window as received once its scan passes, so the relay delivered the original text instead of the guardrail's masks. Such a stream keeps the buffered path, which applies masks per content block as on main. * fix(bedrock): keep a converse-stream buffered when a post_call guardrail runs in parallel (LIT-9515) The relay ran every guardrail in config order, so a run_in_parallel guardrail listed before a masking guardrail scanned the unmasked text. Main's buffered path runs parallel guardrails after the sequential ones and discards their rewrites, which the relay cannot reproduce, so these streams stay buffered * fix(bedrock): mark Noma v2 relay scans like chat and stop reading Bedrock when a held stream's client leaves - Noma v2 scans on the converse-stream relay carry stream, and the last one carries the finished Converse response with its stopReason, as chat sends them, so Noma keeps one record per reply. Other guardrails get the request unchanged. When the last sampled scan already covered the whole answer, the end-of-stream scan still runs for Noma so it gets the finished answer - A held relay stream whose client leaves before the first frame stops reading Bedrock and returns 499, like chat. When Bedrock sent nothing yet, the budget reservation and the parallel-request slot are released - A cancelled wait for the first streamed chunk now stops the upstream read instead of leaving it running - A Noma v2 scan cancelled before Noma answers records not_run instead of success with an empty response * fix(bedrock): send Noma the finished Converse reply's tool calls and reasoning as Converse blocks * fix(bedrock): give Noma the ended scan of a Converse reply that only calls a tool without input * test(bedrock): expect the ValidationException main now returns for a held block before the first frame Main's AWS-shaped passthrough errors (#46522) answer a guardrail block before the first frame with x-amzn-errortype ValidationException, so boto3 reads the code and the guardrail message instead of a bare 400. * fix(bedrock): keep held masks when an earlier sampled guardrail ends the Converse stream with its message A sampled guardrail that blocks with disable_exception_on_block ends the stream with its message as raw event-stream bytes. A held guardrail after it on the same key only read frame objects, so it never saw the messageStop, skipped its write-back and released the held text without its masks. The Converse handler now reads those bytes back into frames, so the held guardrail sees the end of the message and masks the text * fix(proxy): free the parallel slot when a caller leaves a Converse relay holding part of the first frame The relay skipped releasing the slot and budget reservation whenever a spend flush was scheduled, but a flush of a partial first frame builds no response and logs nothing, so the slot stayed held until it expired. The flush now says whether it logged the stream. --------- Backport of #46307 to rc/1.107.0 Cherry-picked from |

fix(vector-stores): keep proxy context out of provider vector store metadata (#47021) (#47159)
* fix(vector-stores): keep proxy context out of provider vector store metadata
The proxy merged its request context (user_api_key_* fields, endpoint,
user_agent, requester_ip_address, litellm_api_version) and the router's
deployment info into the vector store request's metadata. For vector
stores that field is also OpenAI's own metadata, which is capped at 16
keys, so a store created with a team key was full on creation and every
later metadata update returned 400.
Vector store routes now keep that context in litellm_metadata, like
batches, files and responses, and the router does the same for
avector_store_create. Provider-side metadata holds only what the caller
sent.
Adds db_scripts/strip_vector_store_internal_metadata.py, an opt-in
script that removes the proxy-written keys from stores created before
this change. It is a dry run unless --apply is passed.
* fix(vector-stores): page the metadata cleanup script without recursion and tolerate non-string values
Listing every store recursed once per page, which overflows the interpreter stack on large projects. Pages are now walked iteratively. Metadata values are no longer required to be strings, and a malformed response exits 2 with a fixed message instead of a traceback that could echo metadata values.
* fix(vector-stores): read proxy agent id, tags and spend_logs_metadata from litellm_metadata
Vector store routes now keep proxy context in litellm_metadata, but the v3
limiter only read agent_id from metadata, and logging let provider metadata
tags or spend_logs_metadata replace the proxy's values. A string tags value
also crashed get_request_tags.
The limiter now prefers the proxy-resolved agent_id in litellm_metadata.
Logging combines list tags from both buckets (metadata first, deduplicated)
and merges dict spend_logs_metadata with litellm_metadata winning, ignoring
values of the wrong type.
* fix(vector-stores): narrow the logging fallback to mistyped caller values
The tag union and spend_logs_metadata merge changed logged tags and
spend_logs_metadata on every route that has both metadata buckets, deduped
tags quadratically, and stopped background interaction polling from keeping
string tags as sent. Caller values now win exactly as before, and the
proxy's litellm_metadata tags or spend_logs_metadata only replace a caller
value of the wrong type.
The limiter reads agent ids through a pydantic model instead of a cast and
ignores non-string ids.
* fix(vector-stores): log the proxy's full tag list on litellm_metadata routes
On routes that keep proxy context in litellm_metadata, the proxy builds
litellm_metadata.tags from the caller's tags plus key, team and header
tags, but get_request_tags preferred the caller's metadata.tags. A caller
sending metadata.tags on a vector store call dropped the key's tags from
request_tags, which tag spend tracking reads. get_request_tags now prefers
a non-empty litellm_metadata tag list, and falls back to metadata.tags as
before.
* fix(vector-stores): strip LiteLLM-written keys at the provider boundary instead of moving metadata buckets
Moving vector store proxy context into litellm_metadata broke shared readers
(agent limits, request tags, merged logging metadata), and fixing them
widened the change to every litellm_metadata route. This reverts the bucket
move, the router change and the reader fixes, so proxy context stays in
metadata exactly as on main.
Vector store create and update now drop the keys LiteLLM itself writes
(user_api_key*, requester and deployment keys, agent ids) from the metadata
sent to the provider, in the shared optional-param helper both paths use.
The cleanup script reuses the same key list.
* fix(vector-stores): pass non-string metadata keys through the provider metadata filter
* fix(vector-stores): strip LiteLLM-written metadata keys only on proxy and router calls
* fix(vector-stores): send the provider exactly the metadata the caller sent through the proxy
* fix(vector-stores): snapshot caller metadata from the raw request body and keep it out of logged request bodies
* fix(vector-stores): copy the parsed-body metadata when the raw request body cannot be reparsed

fix(mcp): stop proxy-started legacy listeners from consuming server rpm (#46968) (#46982)
* fix(mcp): stop proxy-started legacy listeners from consuming server rpm
The listener the proxy opens on notifications/initialized for legacy MCP
sessions ran the server rate-limit admission once per target, so every
session spent an rpm slot before the client sent anything. Admission is
now injected into the listener and applied only to client-initiated
subscriptions (subscriptions/listen and resources/subscribe). Authorization
and its periodic recheck still run on every path.
* test(mcp): key the fake admission window by caller and server
* fix(mcp): stop subscription catalog refreshes from consuming server rpm
A subscription listener lists the caller's catalog to diff list_changed
events, at setup and on every upstream event. Those listings went through
the normal per-server admission, so against an upstream that declares
listChanged each legacy session spent several rpm slots before the client
asked for anything. The listener now marks its targets as already admitted
for its own lifetime, so its refreshes reuse the subscription's admission.
Client requests on the session are still metered.
* test(mcp): exercise subscription admission through the proxy rate limiter

fix(router)!: keep RPM, region, and param checks when token counting fails (#44544)
* fix(router): stop skipping rate-limit checks when token counting fails Router._pre_call_checks() caught any token_counter() exception and returned the full, unfiltered deployment list, bypassing the RPM, region, and invalid-params checks for every deployment - not just the context-window check that actually depends on the count. A content block token_counter() cannot parse (e.g. an invalid image_url detail value) silently disabled rate-limit enforcement for that request, with only a log line and no error surfaced to the caller. Now a counting failure only disables the context-window check; the other checks still run for every deployment as before. Input-token resolution is pulled into its own method and computed once before the loop, so nothing needs to track "did counting fail" with a mutable flag across iterations. * test(router): cover the async region check when token counting fails Replace the unit test of the private input-token resolver with a regression test through async_get_healthy_deployments, the path the proxy uses: an EU-pinned request whose content cannot be token-counted must not get the US deployment * test(router): cover the param filter when token counting fails and satisfy router coverage * fix(router): answer 400 when no deployment takes the requested param, honor allowlists and drop_params The pre-call param filter now reuses the router's param-acceptance helper, so allowed_openai_params, drop_params, and additional_drop_params keep a deployment instead of filtering it out. When every available deployment lacks a requested param, the router answers 400 UnsupportedParamsError right away instead of a retried 429. Deployment context windows are resolved once per call. * fix(router): keep the retried 429 when a cooling-down deployment takes the param * fix(router): steer to a deployment that takes the param before dropping it, keep context-window fallbacks * fix(router): steer by deployment capability, apply drop settings after region and RPM checks A deployment-level allowed_openai_params no longer counts as taking the param when another deployment does, the drop and allow settings now apply only when no deployment that passed the region, RPM, and context-window checks takes it, and an authenticating provider is checked by its declared model instead of always passing * test(router): make the github_copilot pre-call filter test hermetic in CI * test(router): cover pre-call region and response_format filters through the proxy * fix(router): judge the 400 against the request's own deployments, not a name lookup * fix(router): judge the 400 against the passed deployments when the group name lists none * fix(router): let a request's drop and allow settings replace the deployment's in the param check --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(gemini): allow disabling thought summaries while keeping thinking on (#36460)
* feat(gemini): allow disabling thought summaries while keeping thinking on Both reasoning-effort mappers hardcoded includeThoughts to True whenever thinking was on, so thinking ON with summaries OFF was unreachable even though that is the google SDK's own default. Summaries are the narration rather than the reasoning, and for callers that discard them they are pure added latency. Adds litellm.gemini_include_thoughts_default, defaulting to True so nothing changes for anyone who does not set it. It gates the includeThoughts=True branches in the thinkingBudget mapper, the thinkingLevel mapper, and the anthropic-style thinking param mapper. The disable and none paths still force includeThoughts=False: with thinking off there is nothing to summarise. * test(gemini): assert thought-summary flag through the outbound Gemini request * feat(gemini): let a request's thought summary ask override the gateway default thinking.display (summarized, updates, omitted) and a reasoning_effort object carrying summary now decide includeThoughts for that request; gemini_include_thoughts_default applies only when the request says nothing * feat(gemini): let a thought summary ask on /v1/messages and /v1/responses override the gateway default * fix(gemini): read a text gateway default as a boolean and leave display omitted to the flag Normalize gemini_include_thoughts_default through normalize_drop_params so a YAML or env value written as "false" or "0" turns thought text off and a null or unknown value keeps the default on. thinking.display "omitted" no longer counts as a per-request ask, so the gateway flag decides, matching /v1/messages. Adds proxy integration cells for chat, /v1/messages and /v1/responses that prove the flag, every per-request ask, streaming, and a burst across workers. * test(gemini): match the streamed Responses usage, which omits null token details * feat(gemini): read the AI SDK reasoning summary alias and thinking.summary as chat asks * fix(gemini): keep the logged reasoning_effort unchanged and key the response cache on the summary alias A dict reasoning_effort next to the AI SDK reasoning_summary alias now counts as a summary ask, and the alias is part of the cache key so a plain request and an alias ask never share a reply * fix(caching): key the response cache on the summary alias wherever the request carries it The cache key now reads reasoning_summary and reasoningSummary through the same reader as the summary fold, so an alias inside extra_body gets its own key too * test: type the new summary-ask unit tests and mark their locals Final * test: annotate the remaining summary-ask unit tests the PR touches --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |
