d4e083348c revert: drop the create-release.yml gating and E2E_REDIS_CHAOS opt-in
create-release.yml is back to calling the chaos test through no mechanism at
all; it never called it. Also drops the E2E_REDIS_CHAOS opt-in gate itself:
the redis_chaos marker still exists for -m selection and is still excluded
from the per-PR selector by path (tests/e2e/(ui|claude_code|load)/), but the
test no longer needs an env var to run once its file is targeted.

7d8f2c9ad3 ci(e2e): drop the weekly cron for the Redis chaos test
Now that create-release.yml gates stable and RC releases on this test directly,
the weekly schedule is redundant: every release gets a run against its own
commit instead of whatever happened to be on the default branch that Saturday.
workflow_dispatch stays for manual runs.

33ec56ed75 test(e2e): rewrite the Redis timeout test as a locust chaos load test
The sequential version sent one request at a time, so a Redis outage never
reached the concurrency where the failed-tracking alert body actually grows.
This drives the proxy with locust against one model group of three mock
deployments, two failing at order 1 and one serving at order 2, so every
request spends its retries on the failing pair and lands on the serving
deployment through the order-based fallback. Two phases, a healthy baseline
and a CLIENT PAUSE WRITE window, and every request must succeed in both.

Latency, RSS and CPU are reported as p50/p90/p99 per phase rather than
asserted on: RSS and CPU come from psutil on the proxy's process tree, since
a multi-worker proxy serves /metrics from the prometheus multiprocess
collector and that drops the process collector's series. Thresholds stay open
until weekly runs give real baselines.

2085a37b82 test(e2e): issue the JWT suite's tokens from a real Keycloak realm
The suite used to mint its own RS256 tokens from a stand-in issuer, which
could only ever prove the proxy agreed with the tests: the claims were
whatever the tests chose to sign. Every JWT bug worth catching lives in the
shape of what an identity provider really emits, so the suite now runs
against Keycloak (realm in idp_realm.json), provisions a group and a user per
test through its admin API, and signs in through the direct-access grant.

That changes what the tokens look like: sub is Keycloak's opaque user uuid
rather than a friendly name, groups arrives from a protocol mapper, aud is
the IdP's own audience, and the JWKS carries an encryption key beside the
signing key so the proxy has to select on kid. The expiry case now takes a
one-second token from a second client in the realm and waits for it to lapse
instead of forging a stale exp.

The proxy config the suite needs is unchanged. CI runs it against a Keycloak
deployed beside the ephemeral stack, which lives in the releaser repo.

d9e822d256 ci: run the Redis timeout e2e test from its own weekly workflow
It is a functional e2e test, not a load test, so give it its own workflow instead of a job
inside the load anomaly run. It keeps the Saturday 12:00 UTC cadence and manual dispatch, and
boots the timeout-config proxy with Postgres and Valkey services exactly as before.

058ff8c63c test(e2e): keep answering while every Redis command times out
Add tests/e2e/router/test_redis_timeout_e2e.py against a proxy booted from
tests/e2e/gateway/redis_timeout_ci_config.yml: a real Redis with socket_timeout 0.001, so every
command times out and the circuit breaker opens, plus a primary deployment that always fails and
falls back to a healthy one, so every request carries retry breadcrumbs into cost tracking. The
test drives twenty chat requests through the proxy and asserts each answers within ten seconds,
the last third is no slower than the first, /health/liveliness stays fast, and every request
still reaches the spend log.

Gate it behind the redis_timeout marker and E2E_REDIS_TIMEOUT, exclude it from the per-PR
e2e-changed selector, register the reliability.circuit_breaker.redis_timeout.stays_responsive
cell, and run it as its own job in the weekly load anomaly workflow with a Postgres and Valkey
service. Against a v1.100.0 proxy the run wedges the worker: requests time out and liveliness
stops answering (LIT-6780).

116f88b023 fix(e2e-changed): keep the gate off suites the stack cannot run
The selector picked up two suites that can never pass in this stack, so
editing either one turned the check permanently red: the presidio masking
suite calls pytest.fail without an analyzer and anonymizer that up.sh
never starts, and the pipecat audio suite skips itself at import time
unless the NLTK punkt_tab data is present, which nothing installs.

tests/e2e/coverage_registry/test_collector.py had the same problem for a
different reason. Its nested pytest.main autoloads pytest-retry from the
ci group the workflow installs and dies with "INTERNALERROR: no option
named 'filtered_exceptions'", so the collect-only pass now disables that
plugin. The plugin's entry point is pytest-retry, not retry, so the same
one-word fix lands on mutmut's pytest_add_cli_args, where "-p no:retry"
was disabling nothing.

Two smaller holes in the harness: a canary argument the shell never
expanded used to select nothing and let the gate pass green, and a secret
that cannot be represented in both bash and dotenv was rejected without
naming the key.

b2e93ba99f ci(e2e): declare the embedding model the access_control canary calls
The first canary run failed pass 1 because the stage-mirror config had no
openai-text-embedding-3-small while test_llm_api_routes_group_grants_every_llm_endpoint
calls /embeddings with it; the public log named the test, which is the

a9e918577b ci(e2e): run the access_control canary on harness changes and name failed tests
A harness-only change (proxy_client.py, conftest.py, pytest.ini, the gateway
config, .github/e2e-stack, or the workflow) selected nothing, so the stack was
never exercised by the change that touched it. select_tests.py keeps the
changed-file rule and adds the access_control suite whenever a harness file
changes. The run step now reports the pytest exit code before the evidence
check, prints pytest's summary line per pass so the rerun count is visible,
and assert_tests_ran.py names each failed or errored test as classname::name

90ac77e58e test(e2e): add JWT issuer harness and first live JWT auth tests
Add tests/e2e/jwt_issuer.py, a test-only RS256 issuer that serves a JWKS
document and signs arbitrary claims over an open loopback-only /token
endpoint, so e2e tests can mint tokens without ever holding a signing key.
One key per process keeps the proxy's cached JWKS valid for the whole run.

Add the first five live JWT auth tests in tests/e2e/other: a valid token for
an existing team is accepted and its spend row carries the claimed team and
user, a tampered signature and an expired token are refused with 401, a
token naming a team that does not exist is refused with 403, and a plain
sk- virtual key keeps working with enable_jwt_auth on. Harness unit tests
cover the issuer itself. Team and user create/delete land on the shared
ProxyClient (warn-only teardown, /user/delete typed as the int it returns)
instead of a fourth per-suite copy.

Document the issuer command, the E2E_JWT_ISSUER_PORT convention (default
4190), JWT_PUBLIC_KEY_URL and the litellm_jwtauth config block in
tests/e2e/CONTRIBUTING.md, and register the new cells in other.yaml.

65d8bbb8ac fix(e2e): wait for every gateway before using a new model and keep the network rerun
The changed-tests workflow overrode the suite's `--reruns 1` with `--reruns 0`, so a
transport blip failed a pass that pytest.ini already scopes to network errors and
5xx responses. Pass 2 of run 33692484803 also went red 15s after a model write with
"no healthy deployments": the barrier only polled /v1/models through nginx, which
proves one gateway converged, and the next request rolled the other. The stack now
exports LITELLM_PROXY_REPLICA_URLS, the barrier polls every replica with the full
budget before settling, and up.sh refuses to boot without DD_API_KEY, since the
gateway config enables the datadog callback on every run

test(e2e): cover presidio post_call, tool_permission, and weave logging cells (#39279)
* test(e2e): cover presidio post_call, tool_permission, and weave logging cells

Five registry cells in Logging & Guardrails had no covering test. Each one now
has a live scenario read back from the real destination:

- guardrail.presidio.post_call.masks: an output-scoped Presidio guardrail
anonymizes the PII the model repeats back. The prompt also asks for the
address's local part, which Presidio does not mask, so one response proves the
model saw the raw address (no pre-call masking) while the address itself comes
  back as <EMAIL_ADDRESS>
- guardrail.tool_permission.pre_call.blocks / .allows: an allow-list of one tool.
A request declaring an unlisted tool is rejected 400 naming it; a request
declaring the permitted tool is served and carries
x-litellm-applied-guardrails, so the allow half cannot pass by the guardrail
  never running
- logging.niche_integrations.success.logs_spend / .failure.logs_spend: a
key-scoped weave_otel callback delivers to the real Weave project, read back
through Weave's query API. Success asserts exactly one call whose
llm.response.cost equals the x-litellm-response-cost header; failure asserts
one ERROR-status call naming the provider exception and carrying no cost

Logging & Guardrails coverage goes 24/59 to 29/59. No registry rows are added.

* test(e2e): make the tool-permission allow case deterministic and scope the Weave read-back

Review follow-ups on the coverage PR.

- the allow scenario forced the outcome to depend on whether the model felt like
calling an optional tool, and checked for the tool name as a substring of the
whole body, which a prose mention would satisfy. It now sends
tool_choice="required" and asserts the parsed response carries exactly one tool
  call, for the permitted tool
- the Weave read-back queried the newest 200 calls of a shared project and
filtered client-side, so busy traffic could push the target out of the window
and read as a delivery failure. The query now scopes server-side to the
litellm_request op and to calls started after the request, and pages through
  the window with offset
- the reader builds its results as tuples instead of accumulating into lists

Also unblocks the lint gate: `basedpyright tests/e2e` runs only on PRs that touch
tests/e2e, and it has been failing on staging for three FakeItem arguments in
test_junit_properties.py. The stand-in now goes through one typed adapter that
says why, so the gate is green without touching junit_properties.py itself.

* test(e2e): scope the presidio post_call guardrail to email and phone

Running the suite three times in a row caught a real flake: Presidio's broader
recognizers sometimes claim the email's local part as an NRP entity, so the
answer came back as `<NRP>\n<EMAIL_ADDRESS>\n<PHONE_NUMBER>` and the assertion
that the raw local part survives failed. That token is what tells output masking
apart from input masking, so it has to survive.

The post_call guardrail now registers pii_entities_config for EMAIL_ADDRESS and
PHONE_NUMBER only, which is also the narrower thing the scenario means. Verified
against the exact marker that failed, plus two others.

* test(e2e): mark weave logging cells stage red

* test(e2e): use per-test stage red skips for the weave logging cells

6de9087f03 test(e2e): gate the prompt-cache cell behind an opt-in marker and take ten shuffle picks
The prompt-cache affinity test needs the prompt_caching pre-call check on the
proxy, which the CI stack does not carry until project-releaser #223 lands, so
it now sits behind a prompt_caching_stack marker that is deselected unless
E2E_PROMPT_CACHING_STACK is set, the same shape as managed_files. The
per-directory deselection hooks for weekly and managed_files move into the
parent conftest as one OPT_IN_MARKERS table, so the collector counts a gated
cell only where its env var is set (31/36 today, 32/36 with #223).

The simple-shuffle cell asked for three picks, which a shuffle ignoring the
weights passes one time in eight; it now asks for ten.

ci(e2e): record the e2e suite weekly and replay it on weekdays with zero egress (#38163)
Adds a scheduled GitHub Actions lane on top of the merged record/replay
transport. A Saturday cron records the `replayable` e2e tests against the
real providers and publishes the fixture bundle as a private
`e2e-fixtures-bundle` artifact with a SHA-256 sidecar. Weekday crons pull
that artifact by its pinned digest, verify the checksum before extracting,
and replay it with provider credentials set to bogus values, so a run that
ever reached a real provider fails instead of passing.

An egress sentinel pins the provider hostnames to a local sink for the whole
replay job and counts every connection that reaches them; the job asserts
that count is zero, so hermeticity is proven by measurement. A red Saturday
publishes no bundle, so the next weekday finds nothing fresh and fails loudly
rather than replaying a week-old recording, and the transport's seven-day
freshness gate hard-fails any bundle that has drifted too far. The lane also
runs on demand from the Actions tab with a record/replay `mode` input.

Tests join the lane with `@pytest.mark.replayable`. The streaming Anthropic
test now counts to twenty so its recorded response banks several content
deltas, matching the assertion that the stream arrives incrementally.

ec47bbaaaa feat(e2e): record and replay streamed provider responses chunk-for-chunk
The record/replay harness stored a streamed provider response as one
buffered body, so a replayed stream arrived coalesced and the
/v1/messages streaming test could not be edge-wired. Keep each SSE
transfer chunk in the bundle in the order the provider sent it (a new
streamed response shape at BUNDLE_FORMAT_VERSION 4) so replay reproduces
the provider's split points, the recorded usage chunk keeps its
position, and a mid-stream upstream error replays as the same
mid-stream error rather than a clean body.

Resolves LIT-5742

mateo-berri
d4162bd1ca test(e2e): record and replay the non-streaming provider flows
Chat completions, embeddings, the non-streaming /v1/messages tests, and the
OpenAI batch deployment now register through the provider edge, so
E2E_FIXTURE_MODE=record captures their provider calls and replay serves them
back offline. None of them was wired before, so record was a silent no-op over
these suites and replay quietly went live instead of using the bundle

Multipart uploads now key on their parsed parts: every ordinary form field,
plus the field name, filename, content digest, and length of each file part.
The boundary is envelope rather than content, so it stays out of the digest
instead of changing the key on every run. A body that does not parse as its
declared envelope still has the boundary normalized away before hashing, so
the fallback is at least stable, and it records a name that says why

Binary uploads hash byte for byte. Canonicalizing them first meant decoding
with errors="replace", which collapsed every invalid byte to one U+FFFD and
gave two different PDFs of the same length the same key

Bundles stay out of the repo: they hold verbatim provider response bodies and
expire seven days after recording. Publishing them for CI is LIT-5748, and
streaming fidelity is LIT-5742

367dd537b9 feat(e2e): move record/replay to the provider edge (LIT-5745)
Replaces the test-side fixture transport with an in-process provider-edge
HTTP server the proxy's deployments point their api_base at. Record forwards
provider calls verbatim and writes them to the bundle; replay answers them
from the bundle with zero provider calls while key auth, routing, cost
calculation, and spend-log writes still execute against the live proxy and
database. Drift comes back as HTTP 599 naming the computed and closest
recorded keys. Request headers are never stored and responses are kept
byte-identical between modes from the proxy's side of the socket.

mateo-berri
2adf8aa581 feat(e2e): add record/replay transport seam and fixture bundle format
E2E_FIXTURE_MODE selects the transport every e2e client is built on: live
(default, unchanged behavior), record (pass through to the live proxy while
writing every interaction to a fixture bundle), or replay (serve every
interaction from the bundle with no proxy and no provider spend). Both new
transports fulfil the existing Transport protocol, so no test changes shape.

A bundle is a directory with a manifest (record timestamp, harness version,
format version) and one JSON file per interaction, grouped per test in call
order. Replay against a manifest older than seven days hard-fails at
collection time naming the bundle age. Record always wipes and never reads
the previous bundle, refusing to wipe a directory that is not a bundle.
Auth header values are redacted on write; uploads store a sha256 digest.
unique_marker() becomes deterministic per test in record/replay modes so a
replay run regenerates exactly the requests the record run sent.

Content-based match keys, streaming chunk fidelity, and provider-scoping are
follow-ups (LIT-5741, LIT-5742, LIT-5745).

test(e2e): rename Gateway to ProxyClient and expose it as a session-scoped fixture (#33750)
The shared proxy wrapper in tests/e2e/e2e_gateway.py was misnamed: Gateway is
not a gateway server, it is the client every suite uses to talk to the proxy
(keys, models, chat/embed/ocr, spend read-backs, poll helpers). Rename the
module to proxy_client.py and the class to ProxyClient, with build_gateway
becoming build_proxy_client and the GatewayProvider protocol becoming
ProxyClientProvider. The .gateway attribute suites held is now .proxy. Only
identifiers changed; prose and string literals that use the word gateway for the
proxy-server concept were left alone.

Each suite previously built its own instance through a per-suite build_client()
that called build_gateway() inside, duplicating the proxy wiring across suites.
There is now one session-scoped proxy fixture in tests/e2e/conftest.py; every
suite's client fixture depends on it and injects it, so the wiring lives in one
place. claude_code keeps building its own client directly since it has its own
harness and does not use the shared fixtures.

Behavior is unchanged: shared transport, data-plane/control-plane split routing,
poll budget, typed request/response models, and resource cleanup all go through
the same object.

docs(tests/e2e): align docs with the hard-fail-on-dead-proxy contract and scope the no-unit-tests rule (#33755)
The e2e docs claimed `e2e`-marked tests skip when no proxy answers the
liveness probe, but the harness has always hard-failed: conftest.py's
pytest_runtest_setup calls pytest.fail, its module docstring states
"hard failures only ... never skip", and logging/conftest.py forbids
skipping outright. Align the docs to the code so the single most
important contract reads the same everywhere; a dead proxy turns a run
red instead of being silently skipped and mistaken for a pass. The
per-suite conftest docstrings that described the shared hook as a
"proxy liveness skip" are corrected to "liveness gate" for the same
reason.

Also scope the no-unit-tests hard rule to what it means: never
substitute a unit test for e2e feature coverage, while explicitly
allowing tests that cover the harness itself (e.g.
coverage_registry/test_collector.py), which carry no e2e marker and
run whether or not a proxy is up.

No product code and no harness logic changed.

fix(ui): scope key models dropdown options to the key's team (#32382)
* fix(ui): scope key models dropdown options to the key's team

A teamless key no longer offers the all-team-models option in the create and
edit forms; the backend expands that sentinel to the full proxy model list when
no team is attached, which is rarely what the user intended. A team key no
longer surfaces the all-proxy-models sentinel that leaks in verbatim when the
team's own model list carries it; the dropdown keeps All Team Models plus the
team's individual models.

Adds browser coverage to the management e2e suite: playwright (an optional
dependency behind importorskip) drives the proxy-served dashboard at /ui,
asserts the dropdown options a real user sees for teamless and team keys on
both create and edit, and walks the create modal end to end, reading the
persisted key back through /key/info.

* fix(ui): offer all-proxy-models on teamless keys in the models dropdown

A teamless key has no team allowlist to inherit, so the dropdown now offers All
Proxy Models in place of All Team Models on both the create and edit forms, with
the same exclusive-selection handling. Component and browser e2e tests updated to
pin the swapped option pair; the teamless create case now also walks the modal end
to end and reads the persisted key back through /key/info.

* test(ui): update no-team key creation spec to pick All Proxy Models

The create modal no longer offers All Team Models without a team; the teamless
path now offers All Proxy Models, which is what this spec exercises

* fix(ui): gate All Team Models on the team object being loaded

When a key has a team_id but the teams prop does not yet include the matching team, availableModels stays empty and the models dropdown rendered All Team Models on its own with nothing to compare against. Gate the option on the team object being present so it only appears once team models are known, and add a regression test for the loading state

* fix(ui): filter all-proxy-models from teamless model fetch in key edit form

The teamless fetch path stored modelAvailableCall results without excludeProxyWideSentinel, so an all-proxy-models entry in the response rendered a second option colliding with the hardcoded All Proxy Models sentinel. Apply the same filter used on the team path and add a regression test asserting the sentinel option is not duplicated

chore(e2e): untrack gateway config and document e2e test location (#31914)
* chore(e2e): untrack gateway config and document e2e test location

Stop tracking tests/e2e/gateway/litellm-config.yml so the local proxy config stays on the machine

Add a note to CLAUDE.md that new e2e tests belong in tests/e2e/ and must follow that directory's conventions

* chore(e2e): add self-contained docker compose stack for local runs

Ship a docker-compose.yml that starts the proxy with a throwaway Postgres and Redis and inlines the proxy config with example models, so contributors can bring up a local gateway with nothing but a .env. Update CONTRIBUTING.md to match the inline-config flow

* chore(e2e): drop the second gemini deployment; one key is enough locally

* docs(e2e): make pre-commit steps ordered and require flagging internally found issues
