fix(router): unregister strategy selectors from global callbacks on discard (#45795)
* fix(router): unregister strategy selectors from global callbacks on discard Router.discard only removed its own bound methods from litellm's callback lists, so the strategy selectors it registered (least-busy, usage-based, latency-based, cost-based and routing group selectors) stayed behind and kept receiving events after the router was gone. Reuse the identity based unregister that update_settings already uses so a discarded router takes only its own selectors with it * fix(router): purge discarded selectors from every event callback list function_setup copies litellm.callbacks into the success and failure lists on every request, so a router that served traffic still leaked its selectors there after discard. Route the cleanup through remove_callback_from_all_lists, which now also covers input_callback, and fold the selector gathering into discard so the router coverage check sees no untested helper * fix(router): keep live routers, in-flight hooks and user_config limits intact on discard discard() now rebuilds every global callback list without the router's selectors, optional pre-call checks and own usage callbacks instead of removing them in place, so a callback loop already running never skips a hook. It then re-registers what the remaining live routers need, so a same-strategy survivor keeps its deduped handler. The proxy's per-request user_config router is discarded only after its call returns. * fix(router): bind user_config handlers to the request and tighten discard When a user_config request carries a logging object, its router is discarded before the request runs and its handlers ride on that logging object, so v1 rpm and v2 tpm limits count every request and concurrent requests count once. Without one, the router is discarded after the request as before. The router's pre-call loops also read the request-scoped handlers. discard() now refills only the handler keys it vacated, guards the callback lists and the live-router set with a lock, covers routers built without a model_list, and drops its Slack alerting, adaptive router hook and budget limiter sync task * fix(proxy): reuse one user_config router per config and bind its handlers to each request Every user_config request now goes through a cached router built once per config. Its strategy handlers leave the global callback lists and are bound to the request's logging object instead, so limits count each request once and nothing is left behind after the request. * fix(router): keep the proxy budget limiter on user_config requests A user_config router now swaps in only its strategy selectors, so the proxy's RouterBudgetLimiting stays on the request and keeps counting its spend. Usage logged after a strategy is retired, such as a request still in flight when its user_config router is evicted, now schedules one more push to Redis. * fix(proxy): init the retire fields on the key model budget limiter The key model budget limiter builds its own state instead of calling the base init, so with the proxy's Redis attached every spend increment raised on the missing retire flag and the key's model budget never counted spend. * fix(router): bind the deployment callbacks to user_config requests A cached user_config router serves requests through each request's logging object but bound only its selectors and policies there, so a failing deployment was never cooled down and its usage counters missed requests. * fix(router): retry an evicted router's budget writes and keep the adaptive header on user_config requests A retired budget limiter now keeps retrying its queued Redis increments every sync interval until Redis accepts them, instead of giving up after one failed write. The x-litellm-adaptive-router-model header now comes from one stateless hook in litellm.callbacks that holds no router, so user_config adaptive routers, whose per-router hooks are request-scoped, still answer with the header. * fix(router): lock request callback setup against router cleanup and drain in-flight budget writes on retire function_setup now edits the global callback lists under the same lock that router cleanup uses, so a router dropping its callbacks on another thread can no longer shift the indexes function_setup pops or put a dropped handler back. A budget limiter retired while a Redis write is still in flight now keeps retrying that batch if the write fails, instead of leaving the spend queued with no task left to send it. * fix(utils): set up loggers after releasing the callback lists lock function_setup held the callback lists lock while set_callbacks ran its one-time logger setup, which can block on a Slack package install, so other threads and Router.discard waited on it. The lock now covers only the list reads and writes. * test(router): annotate the retire test's locals as Final * fix(logging): skip replaced global callbacks on the input path too replace_global_callback already kept a same-key global logger out of success and failure dispatch. pre_call and post_call still sent it the input events, so a logger with an input hook could count a request start it never saw finish. Both now share one filter with the success path * test(logging): type the input-path regression test --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(proxy)!: drop router_settings_override before routing and apply it on every branch (#47257)
* fix(proxy): drop router_settings_override before routing and apply it on every branch route_request only popped router_settings_override inside the branch that runs after the api_key/api_base, comma-separated batch and user_config branches. Requests taking one of those earlier branches forwarded the field to the provider, which Anthropic rejects with a 400, and silently lost the key/team num_retries, fallbacks and timeout. The override is now popped and merged into the request before any branch is chosen, keeping the existing precedence where request values win and None values are skipped Fixes #43582 * fix(proxy): apply key/team fallbacks when the request carries api_key or api_base The previous commit skipped fallbacks, context_window_fallbacks and content_policy_fallbacks from router_settings_override whenever the request had api_key or api_base. That broke the scenario from #43582, where a trusted pre-call hook sets api_key and the key/team router_settings still need to apply. All per-request router settings are merged again on every branch, with None values skipped and request values still winning The tests now check that fallbacks run on the api_key and api_base paths and that the provider never receives router_settings_override * fix(proxy): answer 400 for a non-object router_settings_override and treat null as absent * fix(proxy): drop a malformed router_settings_override under drop_params * fix(proxy): route key and team router settings like any request, honor user_config and global drop_params * fix(proxy): keep Router-only override settings out of direct provider calls Calls that route_request sends straight to litellm (evals, endpoints that need no model, pass_through_all_models, the video fallback and the no-router paths) now leave out context_window_fallbacks, content_policy_fallbacks and model_group_retry_policy merged from key or team router settings. Only the Router reads them, and providers reject them as unknown parameters. * test(proxy): drop a comment from the router settings override test * fix(proxy): keep key router settings on the model read-through retry route_request now merges router_settings_override once, before the first attempt. The retry after a model read-through used to pop the merged enable_tag_filtering again and recompute an empty Router-only set, so a model created on another instance was served without the key's tag filtering * test(proxy): check the read-through retry keeps key tag filtering through a real router The regression test now routes through a real Router with two tagged deployments from the database instead of replacing Router.acompletion. Before the fix the retry picks the lower-order untagged-for-request deployment, after it the tagged one * fix(proxy): keep key Router-format fallbacks out of direct provider calls Key and team fallbacks use the Router's model-group mapping. litellm.acompletion reads each mapping as a fallback config, so a direct call retried the same model with the mapping merged into the provider body. The override's fallbacks now stay out of direct calls like the other Router-only settings, while num_retries and timeout still pass --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(proxy): route team key vector store calls to a team model of the store's provider (#46894)
* test(vector-stores): reproduce team key search routed to a team model of the wrong provider A team key's model-less vector store search picks the team's first deployment, so a langgraph team model turns a Bedrock store search into "Vector store search is not supported for langgraph". Cover map_team_model picking by provider and a registered Bedrock store search reaching Bedrock with the registry's credentials. * fix(router): match model-less team deployment to the requested provider map_team_model now takes an optional custom_llm_provider. With no model given, it returns the first team deployment serving that provider, or None when none does, instead of the team's first deployment. Without a provider it behaves as before, so BYOK teams calling raw vector store IDs keep their team key. * fix(proxy): pass the vector store provider when mapping team models Vector store search, retrieve, update and delete pass the store's custom_llm_provider to map_team_model, so a team key's model-less call lands on a team deployment of that provider, or on the direct path with the store's own credentials when the team has none. Other model-less routes keep today's behavior. * fix(proxy): type the vector store provider passed to map_team_model Co-Authored-By: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> * test(vector-stores): cover team key vector store search provider routing end to end Co-Authored-By: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> * style(proxy): ruff format route_llm_request.py Co-Authored-By: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> * test(proxy): type vector store routing tests and mock Bedrock transport Co-Authored-By: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(router): pin model-less vector store calls when a public name mixes providers Co-Authored-By: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(router): keep team provider routing in map_team_model Co-Authored-By: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> --------- Co-authored-by: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(proxy)!: return provider-matching 4xx for the LIT-8062 status code follow-ups (#45537)
* fix(proxy): return provider-matching 4xx for the LIT-8062 status code follow-ups
- OCR multipart errors are 400 invalid_request_error on the file param
- a missing model is a 400 on chat, responses and messages even with a wildcard deployment
- responses max_output_tokens <= 0 reaches the provider instead of being raised to 16
- daily activity rejects end_date before start_date with a 400
- vector store file attributes are sent in full so the provider enforces its key limit
- router-wide defaults no longer satisfy a param the Router takes positionally, or a model the router does not serve
- a JSON null user_config is treated as absent
* chore: keep the type gates at their merge-base counts
* fix(proxy): keep fixed-target wildcards serving a missing model and close router-default gaps
- a missing model is rejected only when the wildcard would forward it into the target
- moderation only counts router defaults for models get_model_list lists
- user_config defaults and deployment params never satisfy a positionally bound param
* test(integration): pin the fixed-target wildcard path and no provider call on positional-param 400s
* chore: validate pattern-matched deployments instead of reading untyped dicts
* fix(proxy): keep router defaults counting for a2a agent models
* test: drop the signature-walk test and type the new test helpers
* test(integration): audit matrix for the status-code follow-ups
Drives every mode the fix branches on through a real proxy, Postgres, Redis and
the scripted upstream: positional params against router, deployment and
user_config defaults; moderation listed vs unlisted; unknown and a2a models;
every user_config shape on chat, responses and messages, streaming and SDK
clients; forwarding vs fixed-target wildcards for missing, null and empty
models; Responses max_output_tokens edges; OCR parse errors; vector store file
attributes; every daily activity route; and a provider outage mid burst plus a
killed worker on a two-worker proxy. Product gaps found are skipped as BUG.
* style: ruff format the audit test files
* test: name the auth pre-check as the source of the JSON array 500
* test: build the audit helpers without mutation and share one sentinel
* test: build every audit request body as one literal
* fix(proxy): keep router defaults and model-less dispatch for requests a fallback chain serves
* fix(proxy): count request, key and team fallbacks when an unlisted model inherits router defaults
* fix(proxy): skip key and team fallbacks on the client-credential dispatch path
* fix(proxy): keep router defaults when the router's own * fallback serves an unlisted model
* fix(proxy): count client-style fallbacks, forward an empty model, report invalid usage chat dates
- The router-default pre-check now treats client-style request, key and team fallbacks
([{"model": ...}]) as serving an unlisted model, as the router does
- The forwarding-wildcard gate only rejects a missing or null model; an empty model
reaches the provider as before (vLLM serves its loaded model for it)
- The /usage/ai/chat tools hand the model the date-range error instead of an empty
dataset or a generic fetch error
* test(usage): type the invalid-date tool test
* fix(proxy): keep rejecting an empty model behind a forwarding wildcard
Key and team model checks skip an empty model, so forwarding it let a key
restricted to another model reach a server's default model (vLLM serves
its loaded model for ""). Pin that with a restricted-key integration cell.
* fix(usage): report the query layer's date 400 to the usage chat model
Checking dates before the fetch refused formats the global usage tool's query
accepts (2026/10/01 returned spend on main). Catch the daily activity query's
own 400 instead, so each tool rejects exactly what it rejected before and only
the message changes.
* fix(proxy): restore three model-less and unlisted-model paths main served
An empty model is looked up as sent, so next to a forwarding */* wildcard it
still reaches the fixed * deployment it matches. A null model with a prompt_id
is left to the prompt manager, which may pick the model. A Claude Code
subagent turn on a session-bound auto/complexity router counts as served, so
the router default max_tokens still applies.
* fix(proxy): only skip the model check for a prompt_id when a prompt manager is registered
Without a callback prompt manager nothing can pick the model, so a null model
with a prompt_id behind a forwarding wildcard gets the same 400 as any other
null model.
* fix(proxy): leave a model-less Claude Code subagent turn to its session router
A subagent turn on a session bound to an auto, complexity, adaptive or
quality router is answered by that router whatever model it names, so a
null or missing model behind a forwarding wildcard is no longer rejected.
An empty model stays rejected.
* fix(proxy): skip the wildcard model check only for a bound Claude Code session
Read the session's router binding, as the router does, instead of only
checking that the request could resume one, so a subagent turn without a
model on an unbound session is still rejected before a forwarding
wildcard sends it upstream.
* refactor(proxy): stop predicting routing in the proxy pre-checks
- drop the wildcard missing-model gate: a model-less request behind a forwarding wildcard goes to the router and gets the provider's own status, as on main
- drop the "model the router serves" check: router defaults count for any named model again, except moderation, where the Router merges them only for listed models
- keep the positional-param, moderation and null user_config fixes
* test(ocr): cover the form, size, empty body, invalid JSON and file-document 400s

fix(router): honor a per-request fallbacks list on a mid-stream fallback (#45227)
* fix(router): honor a per-request fallbacks list on a mid-stream fallback The completion entrypoints record the per-request fallbacks, context_window_fallbacks, and content_policy_fallbacks in the mid-stream controls carrier the Responses and Messages paths already use, and each completion attempt restores them into the kwargs its stream re-enters the fallback chain with, so a streaming request that dies before its first chunk fails over to the list the request named instead of the router-level list only. The sync vs async parity cell now asserts the backup's text on both twins. * test(router): annotate the new fallback test locals as Final and flatten the leak check * fix(proxy): skip null key and team router settings when merging per-request overrides * test(proxy): annotate the null router settings test locals and drop a redundant comment |

fix(proxy): accept router-wide default_litellm_params in required-param validation (#44483)
* fix(proxy): accept router-wide default_litellm_params in required-param validation The required-body-param check added in #43787 only consulted request data and deployment-level litellm_params, so a param supplied solely by router_settings.default_litellm_params (e.g. max_tokens for /v1/messages, documents for /rerank) was rejected with a 400 at route entry even though the router would have injected it during dispatch. Consult the router-wide defaults in the same place, treating None-valued defaults as absent to mirror the setdefault merge. * fix(proxy): consult only the defaults the dispatching router will merge Review follow-up: router-wide defaults are now consulted only where dispatch actually applies them. user_config requests dispatch on their own throwaway Router, so they consult that config's defaults instead of the global router's; search, managed-agent and eval routes, and model-less direct dispatch never pass through the router's defaults merge, so they keep the route-entry 400. Also adds rerank router-default coverage (unit + e2e) and drops the redundant source comment. |
