* test: restore the batch and file unit tests the migration rewrote away
* test: restore full legacy intent in anthropic messages router unit tests
Drop the false BUG skip on non-streaming aanthropic_messages logging (success
callbacks do fire; the skipped body filtered on the wrong model), assert the
logged model_group, messages, cost and usage, cover streaming logging for both
Anthropic and Bedrock invoke, assert dict content blocks for Anthropic, Bedrock
invoke and the OpenAI bridge, add the Bedrock invoke leg of the router test,
fall back from a real 401, test system-prompt caching and streaming
message_start cache fields on converse and invoke, send the legacy tool-search
tools and beta header, remove the type: ignore and bare dict helper, and add
in-process native /anthropic passthrough spend logging tests
* test: fix passthrough migration wire tests and drop false native spend BUG skip
The native spend row test read rows by the shared master-key digest, so it
matched other tests' rows; read each row by its own message id instead and
assert tokens, total, spend, tags, provider, api_base and end_user on both the
non-streaming and streaming native routes. Merge the streaming test that never
checked spend, assert exact tags from litellm_metadata, stop rebinding a Final
in a loop, require cost > 0, and add the chat-completions bridge cost case the
legacy test covered
* test: harden the spend, OCR, image, search and guardrail migration replacements
The OCR spend tests now build fresh kwargs per case instead of mutating a
shared fixture, and every payload case asserts the exact logged spend. The
OCR wire test reads its spend row by request id and checks exact page
pricing. Image edit, Nova Canvas, DuckDuckGo, Firecrawl, Bedrock guardrail
and Presidio replacements now fake only the provider HTTP boundary (respx or
an in-process aiohttp server) and assert the outbound request, so the
DuckDuckGo limit, Azure base_model pricing and guardrail masking are proven
rather than assumed
* test: cover Exa and Perplexity search structure and max_results offline and retire the two base search methods
* test: drive batch and file replacements through the provider HTTP boundary and real logging callback
Replace monkeypatched litellm.afile_content and AsyncHTTPHandler doubles with respx routes,
read batch logging metadata from a registered success callback instead of get_logging_payload,
use the real managed-files hook for the GEN-2166 regression, assert outbound request bodies,
pin poller ownership explicitly in the migrated DB-sync tests, and require the scripted
upstream to be hit in the responses error-status wire tests
* test: assert file content download headers pass through the proxy
* test: point spend coverage references at the tests that replaced the retired spend job
* test: assert passthrough identity, spend and route dispatch from the code under test
The AssemblyAI non-admin test asserted metadata it wrote itself and leaked a
background poll to the real AssemblyAI host. It now drives assemblyai_proxy_route
with a real Request and waits for the success callback for its own transcript id.
The Vertex spend test matches its log by call id instead of taking the first event.
The OpenAI files wire test hit the native /{provider}/v1/files route; it now calls
/openai/files so the passthrough is what forwards the upload and delete.
* test: mock only the HTTP boundary in the migrated audio tests
Vertex TTS tests no longer replace _ensure_access_token or AsyncHTTPHandler.post;
the token comes from a mocked Google OAuth endpoint and the synthesize call from
respx. Speech tests assert the outbound body, the transcription cache test polls
for the cache write instead of relying on test ordering, and the model pass-through
test checks the multipart model field per model.
* test: wait on a logger event instead of polling the clock in anthropic messages unit tests
Recorders keep payloads in a rebound tuple and set an asyncio.Event; tests
await it with asyncio.wait_for instead of a sleep-and-deadline poll loop
* test: freeze module-level batch and file response fixtures as Final MappingProxyType
* test: fake the presidio analyzer with an in-memory aiohttp connector
The blocked-entity tests started an aiohttp TestServer, which binds a local
socket. They now hand the guardrail a ClientSession whose connector answers
/analyze and /anonymize in process, so no socket is opened and the outbound
analyze text and entities are still asserted
* test: type anthropic messages router test helpers with LiteLLM's Anthropic TypedDicts
Messages, cached system blocks and tool-search tools now use
AnthropicMessagesUserMessageParam, AnthropicMessagesTextParam,
AnthropicToolSearchToolRegex and AnthropicMessagesTool instead of bare
dict shapes; tools are converted to plain dicts only at the acreate call,
whose tools parameter is list[dict]
* test: type batch limiter helpers with TypedDicts and wait on the logging callback event instead of polling
* test: give the migrated OCR, image and presidio helpers precise types
OCR spend helpers take ReadOnly TypedDicts for kwargs and responses and use
LiteLLM's OCRResponse/OCRUsageInfo instead of local pydantic stand-ins; spend
metadata is validated with a TypeAdapter. The presidio fake uses LiteLLM's
PresidioAnalyzeRequest/ResponseItem types, and the image-edit logger validates
the logged payload instead of storing an untyped dict
* test: signal callback and cache events instead of polling
Recorders keep tuples and set an asyncio.Event, thread-safely, when the payload
for this test's transcript id or upstream URL arrives. The transcription cache
test waits on a Cache subclass that signals after async_add_cache. No clock
polling or sleeps remain in these tests.
* test: assert the batch limiter hook updates the caller's request in place
* test: tolerate model-list probes and read native passthrough rows by owned key
The router's OpenAI-compatible model-info refresh (litellm/router.py:10710)
sends GET /v1/models to configured openai api_bases, so the wire answers it
with an empty list and excludes it from the provider-call assertions. Native
/anthropic spend rows are now read by a per-request virtual key digest and
call_type, then the row's request_id is checked against the message id
* test: expect the OCR alias in the proxy response model
The proxy restamps every OpenAI-compatible response model to the name the
client requested (_override_openai_response_model), so /v1/ocr returns the
scenario alias. The upstream model is now checked on the drained request body
instead of inside the peer, where a failed assert never reached the test

* test: restore litellm globals that moved tests set
* test: finalize migration test cleanup
* test: restore original bodies of moved legacy tests
The move into tests/unit had rewritten 612 test bodies, and some of the rewrites dropped assertions. Each moved test now carries its original body from the legacy file, with only the imports, helpers, fake provider credentials and monkeypatched env it needs to run under tests/unit
test_timeout_streaming goes back to tests/local_testing because it needs the fake OpenAI endpoint server. The image payload fixture moves with its only user, and two tests that leaked global state (a registered model cost entry and queued logging tasks) are now isolated
* test: drop module imports shadowed by restored local imports
* test: assert on LiteLLM output in no-assertion moved tests and isolate leaks
Twenty no-assertion candidates get one assertion on the value LiteLLM returns, with the original lines unchanged. Four tests go back to their legacy files because they only check types or imports, write into the working directory, or cannot assert without a body change
Two moved tests leaked globals into later tests in the same worker, so monkeypatch fixtures now restore the retry-after header parser and the end user cost tracking flags
* test: drain queued logging tasks before the Phoenix span test
The moved Phoenix test counted spans from logging tasks that earlier tests had queued, so the drain fixture moves to tests/unit/conftest.py and both it and the Datadog batch test use it. test_factory_function goes back to its legacy file because its returned wrapper calls the real Assistants API and cannot be asserted on without a body change

MockRequest in tests/pass_through_unit_tests gains an httpx.URL and an ASGI

_init_kwargs_for_pass_through_endpoint, and the POST-only /laya/v1/systemone
route joins the protocol-constrained exemptions. A built-in pass-through pins
metadata.model_group to the resolved model so a client cannot choose its own
per-model budget key; test_pass_through_endpoints now proves that on a
non-Laya route and drops a duplicated assertion.

* test(e2e): move live-provider legacy tests into tests/e2e
Port legacy tests that exercise real providers into the tests/e2e suites that own them, using the harness (/model/new plus deferred cleanup) and asserting on what the caller receives. Delete legacy tests already covered at equal or stronger strength by e2e, integration or unit tests, and drop the now empty ocr_testing CircleCI job
* test(e2e): address review on the live-provider test move
Assert the SSE error frame a client actually receives when a post_call guardrail blocks a stream, and require a tool call for every requested city before checking the answer. Restore the OCR matrix and its CircleCI job, the Claude Agent SDK streaming test, and test_async_create_batch, since their SDK-level and callback assertions have no equivalent in tests/e2e
* test(e2e): accept both guardrail block shapes on a blocked stream
A post_call block before the first chunk reaches the client as HTTP 400 with either a JSON error body or a single SSE error frame, depending on whether the block surfaced as an exception or an error chunk. Assert the policy message is present and the blocked output is absent in both
* test(realtime): restore direct SDK realtime tests against OpenAI
The e2e realtime tests go through the proxy and the remaining SDK tests either mock the upstream or assert less, so keep the direct litellm._arealtime tests with and without intent, and TestOpenAIRealtime::test_realtime_connection, in place
* test: make realtime and Nova stream checks deterministic
The direct SDK realtime tests now fail on a refused connection instead of skipping. The with-intent test asserts OpenAI rejects the exact intent value sent, which only happens when the intent is forwarded. The Nova /v1/messages stream test asserts stream structure, stop reason and usage instead of model wording
* test(realtime): own intent forwarding with a unit test instead of a live rejection
Assert litellm._arealtime passes the intent query param into the OpenAI realtime websocket URL, which is the behavior LiteLLM owns, and drop the live test that depended on OpenAI's rejection wording

* fix(proxy): bill tinyfish SSE runs via detached poller and only COMPLETED runs
Disconnected run-sse clients previously left completed runs unbilled: the stream-end
handler saw a still-RUNNING run and logged $0. The poller now spawns from the streaming
path on the first run_id frame, outlives the disconnect, and writes the one spend row when
the run turns terminal; the stream-end path only logs the $0 fallback for run_id-less
streams. Costs now apply only to COMPLETED runs ($0 for FAILED/CANCELLED, matching the
upstream invoice), spend rows carry the request's litellm_call_id (previously NULL
request_ids collided and were silently dropped), and the GET /v1/runs listing is blocked
so callers behind the shared key cannot discover each other's runs.

Skip failure dispatch when the SSE poller owns billing (a failure row collided with the

thread litellm_params into poller-billed standard logging objects so SLO consumers see
attribution, untype the run error field so upstream error-shape drift cannot void a
billable run, normalize a schemeless TINYFISH_AGENT_API_BASE, extend the poll budget to
cover queue wait (3600s) with ~60s outage tolerance, and log poller cancellation.

* fix(proxy): reject passthrough envelope controls on tinyfish route, raise blocking-run timeout
The generic passthrough unwraps a caller-supplied custom_body as the forwarded request and
honors a caller stream flag, so custom_body.use_vault bypassed the credentialed-run 403 and
stream: true flipped a blocking run into the streaming pipeline. The route now 400s the
envelope fields (custom_body, stream, query_params); streaming comes from the endpoint.
Blocking runs also get a 1500s default timeout covering the upstream 1200s run cap, unless
the operator configured pass_through_request_timeout.

* chore(proxy): regenerate the lazy OpenAPI snapshot after merging main
* chore(proxy): keep the lazy OpenAPI snapshot as CI's Python 3.12 renders it
* fix(proxy): reject TinyFish POST bodies that are not a JSON object
A form-encoded or text body carried stream and use_vault past both field
gates, because the gates only saw fields the body parsed to as JSON. The
route now checks the content type before reading the body and answers 400
for anything that is not a JSON object.
* fix(tinyfish): reject submit paths with extra slashes so run-async always bills
The allowlist dropped empty path segments, so POST /v1/automation/run-async/
was forwarded upstream while the billing dispatch only recognises the exact
path and would have logged the submit at $0 without starting the poller.
Any path with a trailing or doubled slash now returns 403 before forwarding.

* fix(proxy): release unclaimed budget reservations at request end
* fix(proxy): release unclaimed budget reservations of websocket sessions too
* test(proxy): drop the structural middleware inheritance check
* fix(proxy): claim the budget reservation on streaming pass-through before its cost callback
The SSE chunk processor hands its success handler to the logging worker
after the response, so the request-end release freed the reservation
first and left the key unguarded until the worker drained. Claim it at
both end-of-stream hand-offs, the immediate enqueue and the coroutine
parked for deferred dispatch.
Give the xai realtime test double the litellm_params attribute every
real Logging object carries, since the wrapper now reads it.
* test(pass-through): give the vertex streaming test doubles a litellm_params dict
The spec'd Logging mocks in test_vertex_ai_anthropic_streaming_cost_injection.py
lacked the instance attribute the chunk processor now reads to claim the budget
reservation. Also restores main's _lazy_openapi_snapshot.json: the branch's copy
had been regenerated under Python 3.14, which dedents one docstring description
that the CI regeneration on Python 3.12 keeps indented, and the PR adds no lazily
loaded route, so main's file is the correct one.
* fix(pass-through): claim the budget reservation only after its cost callback is enqueued
Every pass-through success hand-off stamped callback_bound before handing the
coroutine to the logging worker. When that enqueue raised, the reservation stayed
claimed with no callback left to reconcile it, so the request-end release skipped it
and the reserved cost stayed pinned on the key's counter. Enqueue first, then claim,
so a failed hand-off leaves the reservation for the request-end release.

Live reports grounding in the server frames and never in usageMetadata, so nothing
set the counter the cost path reads and the per-query charge was missing from every
grounded session. Google bills a grounded Live prompt on top of its tokens, and that
fee dwarfs the token cost, so a non-zero spend check could never catch it.
Both Live surfaces now read serverContent.groundingMetadata where they build usage,
and reuse the chat path's own classifier so web search and Maps keep their separate
SKUs rather than being counted together.
Separately, a client sending turn_detection: null reached a membership test against
None and took the session down with no traceback, while the branch immediately above
already guards for it. Live emits grounding and usage on the same frame, verified
against Vertex directly, so the realtime counter is set where usage is built.

(cherry picked from commit 26c8d4822fc1c5c44fe8f72f4f57473a2ce1acbf)
The four session helpers this PR added were unannotated. Typing them needs a
name for the (text, audio) pair each turn carries, so _LiveTurn is a TypedDict
rather than a Mapping union that would leave sum() over a prompt pair
ill-typed, and AUDIO_SESSION is declared with it. The message list reuses
list[dict[str, object]], the annotation the passthrough already uses where it
collects those messages
toolUsePromptTokenCount was the one prompt-side total not named in
_AGGREGATED_FIELDS, so it rode the unknown-key pass-through and took the first
frame's value while promptTokenCount, candidatesTokenCount and totalTokenCount
beside it were summed. Live's frames grow over a session, so the first frame is
the smallest number in the series and a grounded session under-reported its
tool-use tokens by everything after turn one. It is now summed like its three
neighbours.
This is reporting only, and pricing these tokens is deliberately left out. Google
charges tool-use prompt tokens at the input token rate, but generic_cost_per_token
reads the input bill out of prompt_tokens_details and only falls back to
prompt_tokens when the details carry no text or a cache hit overlaps them.
Measured on the native-audio entry with 500 tool-use tokens: adding them to
prompt_tokens moves an ordinary Live turn's bill by $0.0000000000, and on a turn
with a cache hit it moves it by $0.0002650000 where the tokens are worth
$0.0002500000, because it perturbs the cache-overlap correction. Pricing them
belongs beside the modality terms in the shared input-cost path, in its own
change that fixes the same latent no-op on the ordinary Gemini path.
Not verified against a live capture: no Vertex Live session we have captured
reported toolUsePromptTokenCount at all, so the summing convention is inferred
from the three prompt-side totals that accumulate the same way.
The two helpers this branch adds took Sequence[Mapping[str, Any]], which the
repo forbids, and only typechecked because Any is compatible with everything.
Both now take Mapping[str, object] and the raw *TokensDetails value is narrowed
to its mapping entries at each of the three call sites.
TypedDicts are the wrong tool here: _merged_modality_totals reads count_key and
details_key as runtime strings, and the aggregation deliberately passes unknown
keys straight through, so both need a mapping whose keys are not literals.
The narrowing is not cosmetic. The handler's only failure path returns no result
at all, so a *TokensDetails value that was not a list of objects used to raise
while being read and cost the whole session its bill.
The Live passthrough builds Usage from the TEXT-modality counts alone, so audio,
image and video tokens never reach the cost calculator and bill as nothing. A
one-turn audio session reported 13 text and 127 audio input tokens and billed the
13; a camera session reported 1043 prompt tokens and billed 11.
Reporting the full per-modality breakdown fixes it, because the shared Gemini
input and output cost path already prices audio, image and video from
prompt_tokens_details and completion_tokens_details. On the native-audio entry
that is a 6x difference per token in both directions, which is the whole gap.
Aggregation across turns is unchanged. Google charges per turn for every token in
the Live session context window, current turn plus all accumulated tokens from
previous turns, so the existing summing is what Vertex bills and it stays as it
is. That is worth stating because the cumulative promptTokensDetails looks like a
restatement of one running total, and treating it that way would under-bill a
multi-turn session. See the LiveAPI context-window note on
https://cloud.google.com/vertex-ai/generative-ai/pricing.
Live can also name the modality carrying the rest of a turn and omit its
tokenCount. Reading that absent key as zero left the tokens inside
candidatesTokenCount but outside the breakdown, so real speech was charged at the
text output rate. A lone unpriced entry now takes whatever the turn's declared
count leaves over. Two or more cannot be told apart, so they are still left to the
calculator's text remainder.
Server-side toolUsePromptTokenCount is now reported in prompt_tokens_details. It
is deliberately kept out of prompt_tokens: no Gemini route prices tool-use tokens,
and adding them there instead suppresses the cache-overlap correction and raises
the bill for no extra work.
Removes _calculate_live_api_cost, whose result never reached the bill. It set
kwargs["response_cost"], which the standard logging path recomputes from the
ModelResponse, and on a measured audio session it returned $0.000487 against a
$0.0000425 row. Now that the modality counts reach the standard calculator,
keeping a second hand-rolled pricing path would only ever double-charge.
The rewrite of the aggregator is arithmetically identical to what it replaced. It
sums the same three counts and the same per-modality details, still takes the
remaining fields from the first turn, and drops nine LIT010, one C901 and 42
basedpyright findings in the process.
Wrap the context-management editors, the end-of-stream chunk builder,
acount_tokens, the compression interception hook, the passthrough
interrupted-stream recovery, the A2A usage counters, and the semantic
cache embedding truncation in asyncify so a multi-megabyte payload no
longer stalls the worker's event loop while it is tokenized
The pass-through suite now drains the process-global logging worker
from an autouse conftest fixture so work queued on one test's loop
cannot fire against the next test's callbacks

PR #38113 made a configured search_tool_name fail fast when the router
does not carry a matching search tool, which broke
test_pre_request_hook_modifies_request_body: it names test-search-tool
but never registers it. Stub the proxy router with that tool so the test
exercises the conversion path again.
Greptile flagged this test as coupled to OpenAI's availability. The coupling was
not the status assertion it pointed at, and it predates this PR: the test it
replaced called /v1/assistants live the same way, and pass_through_endpoints gates
success logging on `response.status_code < 400`, so an upstream outage has always
meant no log fires and the payload assertions fail regardless.
The target is now a local HTTP server on an ephemeral port, so the test is offline
either way. It still exercises the generic passthrough handler, since
_is_supported_openai_endpoint does not claim a 127.0.0.1 URL any more than it
claimed /v1/moderations, and it now also asserts what the upstream actually
received rather than only what came back.
respx was the obvious approach and does not work here: it patches httpx transports,
and the passthrough issues its request through the custom aiohttp transport, so the
call went to the real api.openai.com and returned 401 while respx sat unused.
Mutation checked: gating off the success enqueue fails the test, and tampering with
the logged response body fails it.
Two unrelated causes, both leaving staging red with tests that no longer describe
anything true.
#38264 gave LangFuseLogger a langfuse_environment argument and started carrying it
in the credentials dict. The handler test's fake logger did not accept the new
keyword, so constructing it raised TypeError, and four cases in
test_langfuse_unit_tests rebuilt the cache key by hand from three fields and missed
on the four-field key production now writes. Caching itself was never broken: the
handler sets and gets with the same dict. The fake now takes the argument and
asserts it is forwarded, and the cache assertion issues a second identical request
and expects the same logger back, which is the behaviour that matters and cannot
rot the next time a credential field is added.
OpenAI has retired the Assistants API. /v1/assistants and /v1/threads both answer
404 with a valid key, where every live route answers 401, so nothing calling them
can pass again. test_custom_logger_passthrough covered generic passthrough logging
and only used assistants because it is a route with no provider-specific handler;
it moves to /v1/moderations, which is still unclaimed by
_is_supported_openai_endpoint, so the same generic branch is exercised. The two
tests there asserted the same thing against different dead routes, so they collapse
into one. The Ruby suite existed solely to drive assistants, threads, messages and
runs, so it goes along with the RVM and bundler steps that were installed only to
run it, and the two dead OpenAI assistants cases leave
test_openai_assistants_passthrough.
The Azure assistants case in that file stays. Azure runs its own lifecycle and I
could not reach the CI deployment to check whether that API is still there.
* test: drop the cwd-relative sys.path.insert calls from the test suite
TQ003 stands at 1,077 across 1,058 files, and 1,015 of them are the same shape:
sys.path.insert(0, os.path.abspath("../..")) and its deeper siblings. The
argument resolves against the working directory rather than the file, so from
the repo root, where every job runs pytest, it inserts the directory two levels
above the checkout. It has never pointed at litellm. The package is installed
into the environment anyway, which is what actually makes the import work, and
what the rule's message has said all along.
Removing them leaves 1,634 imports of sys and os with no remaining reference,
and those go too, except where another test module imports the name back out of
the file. The rest of TQ003 is 62 call sites that resolve against __file__ or a
variable, which are a different question and are left alone.
Collection is identical either way: 45,871 tests and the same 51 pre-existing
collection errors before and after, and ruff reports no new undefined name.
* test: drop the duplicate imports the sys.path sweep exposed to F811
* test(pre-call-utils): restore the os import the new bedrock tests need
A test that asserts on the error inside its own except block passes when the
call stops raising, because nothing runs the handler. That is the exact case
the test exists to catch, so the regression lands green.
Rewrites all 111 such blocks into pytest.raises, which fails when the call
succeeds, and selects PT017 in ruff-tests.toml so no new one lands.
A name bound twice keeps only the second binding. In `tests/` that is nearly
always a repeated import, harmless but misleading, and the same rule is what
catches the cases that are not harmless: a local that shadows an import the
module still calls, and a second `def test_x` that quietly replaces the first.
311 of the 344 sites were repeated imports and came out with ruff's own fix.
The remaining 33 needed a decision. Four modules imported a name they never
used because a local definition below already shadowed it. Two comprehensions
bound `call` over `unittest.mock.call`, which those modules import and use.
One test rebound the two module handles its nested reload closure had captured.
One class attribute shadowed an unused `status` import.
The load-test fixtures move to a conftest, which is how pytest is meant to share
them, so the test module no longer imports three fixture names it never calls.
The nine `prisma_client` parameters keep a narrow `noqa`: pytest resolves that
fixture by name before the body runs, so the parameter never shadows anything.
The pass-through method contract asserted that every route accepts GET, POST,
PUT, DELETE and PATCH. That holds for routes fronting a REST API, where
narrowing the set turns a request the upstream would have served into a 405,
but it does not hold for Amazon Comprehend Medical: it speaks AWS JSON 1.1,
which is POST-only, and its handler signs a POST upstream and requires a JSON
object body. Registering the other four verbs there would only produce routes
that always fail body parsing, so the route is POST-only on purpose and the
blanket assertion is the part that is wrong.
Carry a narrow exemption list instead of dropping the check. Exempted routes
are still pinned to an exact method set, so widening or narrowing one fails,
and a companion test asserts every exempted path is still registered so the
list cannot outlive the routes it covers.
* fix(proxy): re-assert the authenticated identity on passthrough requests
The passthrough merges the client's litellm_metadata into the request metadata
and then re-asserts only user_api_key and the parent span. Every other identity
field the spend and budget pipeline reads stays whatever the request body set,
so a body carrying user_api_key_user_id, user_api_key_team_id,
user_api_key_org_id or user_api_key_end_user_id charges that user, team, org or
end user instead of the caller.
Re-assert the whole sanitized identity after the merge, so the client's copy of
any of those fields is overwritten by the authenticated key's own values.
* test(passthrough): assert no authenticated identity field is client settable
The existing regression names seven fields; the re-assertion covers every field
get_sanitized_user_information_from_key returns, which is twenty today. Derive
the set from the helper so a field added to StandardLoggingUserAPIKeyMetadata is
covered without touching the test.
Two of the twenty were not covered before, including user_api_key_hash, which is
distinct from user_api_key and was client settable.
The top-level dispatch in rewrite_body_ids only handled dict and list
bodies, so a truthy scalar JSON body (bare string, number, bool) hit
dict.items() and raised AttributeError where the merge base passed it
through, and a bare managed-ID string body lost resolution. Restore the
base behavior by dispatching through _walk, widen the implementation to
object with a catch-all overload, and pin both paths with regression
tests
* fix(claude-code): make skill registration create-only with a PUT update route
POST /claude-code/plugins upserted by name, so re-registering an existing
name silently overwrote the stored skill's source and metadata. The "Add
New Skill" UI button posts here, so a name collision clobbered a different
skill with no signal to the user.
Make POST create-only: it returns 409 if the name already exists, with a
unique-violation guard mapping the find-then-create race to the same 409.
Add an explicit PUT /claude-code/plugins/{plugin_name} for updates (404 if
the name is missing). PUT is a full replace and documents that omitted
fields reset to their defaults, so UpdatePluginRequest defaults version to
None instead of fabricating the create-time 1.0.0.
The shared mutable fields move to a PluginSpec base; RegisterPluginRequest
keeps its name and its generated schema unchanged, UpdatePluginRequest
carries no name. Regenerated the dashboard types and the lazy openapi
snapshot for the new route.
Resolves LIT-4110
* fix(ui): surface the proxy error detail so the skill 409 conflict is legible
The add-skill form rendered the raw HTTPException envelope on failure
because deriveErrorMessage did not unwrap an object-shaped detail
({"detail": {"error": ...}}), so the new create-only 409 reached the user
as a JSON blob. Unwrap object-shaped detail at the client layer, which
covers every handler that returns detail={"error": ...}, and surface the
resulting message verbatim on the form instead of burying it under a
generic prefix.
* refactor(claude-code): replace blind excepts in plugin mutations with typed handling
Narrow register_plugin's create-conflict guard from a broad 'except Exception'
+ isinstance dance to a direct 'except UniqueViolationError', using an Exception
subclass sentinel (not None) as the prisma-absent fallback so the sentinel can be
caught directly. Drop update_plugin's outer 'except Exception -> 500' wrapper so
HTTPExceptions propagate on their own and unexpected DB errors surface as FastAPI's
default 500 rather than echoing str(e). Keeps the BLE001 strict-rule budget green.
* fix(claude-code): restore structured 500 handling on update_plugin via typed PrismaError catch
Flattening update_plugin to satisfy the no-blind-except rule dropped its error
wrapper entirely, so a data-layer failure (e.g. a dropped DB connection) would
skip the intentional verbose_proxy_logger.exception call and degrade the response
from the endpoint's structured {"error": ...} body to FastAPI's default
{"detail": "Internal Server Error"}, inconsistent with every sibling route.
Wrap update_plugin in 'except PrismaError' instead of the blind 'except Exception'
the other routes use: it logs and returns the structured 500 for real DB failures
while letting genuine code bugs surface rather than masking them as 'Update failed',
and stays off the BLE001 budget. Add a regression test that a PrismaError during
the update maps to a structured 500.
* fix(claude-code): import prisma error types at function level to satisfy LIT009
* refactor(claude-code): typed plugin mutation responses and lint gate fixes
Return RegisterPluginResponse models from POST and PUT instead of ad-hoc
dicts, declare them as response_model so the OpenAPI schema and dashboard
types carry the real response shape, build the stored manifest via
model_dump, and drop update_plugin's unused auth parameter (the route
dependency already enforces auth). Keeps the LIT002/B008/UP045 budgets at
their ratcheted ceilings after merging litellm_internal_staging
Replace Any-typed payload dicts, record shapes, and provider request/response
seams with TypedDicts, Protocols, and precise annotations in the ten litellm/
files carrying the highest combined basedpyright reportAny + reportExplicitAny
counts. No behavior changes.
Adds a regression test covering the managed-id list path so a prisma client
missing the managed tables keeps returning a fail-closed empty page.
Streaming pass-through for native Anthropic /v1/messages and the /v1/responses
streaming iterator never set logging_obj.completion_start_time, so
_success_handler_helper_fn fell back to completion_start_time = end_time.
Downstream TTFT consumers (Prometheus, OTEL, Langfuse, Admin UI, spend logs
completionStartTime) then reported time-to-first-token equal to total request
duration.
Stamp completion_start_time on the first chunk in PassThroughStreamingHandler.
chunk_processor and BaseResponsesAPIStreamingIterator._process_chunk, mirroring
CustomStreamWrapper for /chat/completions.

chunk_processor now reads response.status_code to gate end-of-stream
success logging. These mocks used AsyncMock(spec=httpx.Response), which
spec's against the class and doesn't expose status_code since it's an
instance attribute, not a class attribute, so accessing it raised
AttributeError. Sets status_code=200 explicitly on the success-path mocks.

* Fix remaining VCR live-call leaks
* test(vcr): dedupe live-test helpers and drop spurious kwargs
Extract the duplicated isVertexQuotaError/runVertexRequestOrSkip Vertex
quota-skip helpers into tests/pass_through_tests/vertex_test_helpers.js and the
duplicated _skip_live_prompt_caching_test guard into tests/_live_test_helpers.py
so each lives in one place. In test_aarun_thread_litellm, build a separate
message_data carrying role/content for add_message and a thread_data without
them for run_thread/run_thread_stream/get_messages, which no longer receive the
spurious message fields.
* test(overhead): assert mock transport is exercised in non-streaming and stream tests
* fix duplicate cost callbacks for anthropic streaming pass-through
Two bugs caused _PROXY_track_cost_callback to see stream=True +
complete_streaming_response=None on every streaming pass-through request,
making the dedup guard in dispatch_success_handlers permanently inactive:
1. pass_through_endpoints.py created the Logging object with stream=False
for all requests. _is_assembled_stream_success short-circuits on
self.stream is not True, so has_dispatched_final_stream_success was
never set and any second dispatch went through unchecked.
Fix: set logging_obj.stream = True after stream detection.
2. _create_anthropic_response_logging_payload set complete_streaming_response
inside the try block after litellm.completion_cost(), so a pricing error
caused an early return without setting it on model_call_details.
Fix: set complete_streaming_response before the try block.

* fix stream
* add stream to logging obj
* test(pass_through): give mock logging object a real model_call_details dict
The anthropic passthrough logging payload now records the assembled
response on model_call_details before cost calculation, which requires
model_call_details to support item assignment. In production it is always
a dict; the existing unit test stubbed the logging object with a bare Mock
whose attribute is not subscriptable, so the new assignment raised
TypeError. Use a real dict to match the production logging object.
* test(pass_through): cover streaming logging-obj stream flag
The streaming branch of pass_through_request that marks the logging object
as streaming (logging_obj.stream and model_call_details["stream"]) had no
unit coverage, so the patch coverage gate flagged it. Add a regression test
that drives a streaming pass-through request through pass_through_request and
asserts the logging object is flagged as a stream before dispatch.
* test(pass_through): cover SSE-response stream flag fallback branch
The auto-detected streaming branch of pass_through_request (when a request
that was not flagged as streaming returns a text/event-stream response) sets
logging_obj.stream and model_call_details["stream"] but had no unit coverage,
so the codecov patch gate failed at 60%. Drive a non-streaming pass-through
request whose upstream response is SSE through pass_through_request and assert
the logging object is flagged as a stream before dispatch.
* fix(pass_through): gate complete_streaming_response on stream flag
perform_redaction only scrubs complete_streaming_response when
model_call_details["stream"] is True. Setting it unconditionally for
non-streaming Anthropic pass-through responses left the assembled
response unredacted in model_call_details, which is handed to logging
callbacks as kwargs when message logging is disabled. Only record it for
actual streaming responses so redaction always applies.
