The chat-shaped output handler now takes the input translation as its
request scoping, so the logged request is scoped exactly once and with
the pre-call semantics of the surface it arrived on. This drops the
unscoped chat_shaped_request_conversation detour from af312dc8, which
made the Anthropic response scan remove in-sequence system turns under
skip_system while the request scan kept them

Forward streaming_transform_mode from guardrail litellm_params into PromptSecurityGuardrail so incremental_diff is reachable from config; the default stays block_only. In incremental_diff the guardrail now returns stream_holdback_chars alongside the rewritten texts so that a value split across streamed chunks (or across an abbreviation period) is never partially released before the vendor rewrite arrives. Each response text gets its own protect call so modified_text maps back to the right choice when n > 1, and custom_guardrail no longer logs a clean response as mask just because the guardrail attached holdback metadata

The request path used get_end_user_object, which falls back to a database
lookup on a cache miss. Read the LiteLLM_EndUserTable row auth already cached
instead, with the default budget already attached, and leave misses to the
periodic refresh

The metric attribute filter now removes every attribute whose value is
None, and the content and inference-details events pass their attributes
through drop_none before emitting, so a call with no provider label or no
model name never hands the OTLP exporter a NoneType attribute. This closes
the gen_ai.request.model report on #36759 the same way the gen_ai.system
one was closed, and the regression tests cover both keys.
The pre-call hook passed the proxy's whole per-request metadata dict into the
request identity, so proxy-owned siblings such as requester_ip_address were
promoted alongside the caller's keys. Only the requester_metadata mapping is
read now, keyed under its wrapper, which keeps the default allowlist behaviour
unchanged

Mirror the key, team, user and org budget gauges for customer objects with
litellm_remaining_customer_budget_metric, litellm_customer_max_budget_metric
and litellm_customer_budget_remaining_hours_metric. The gauges carry only the
end_user label, are emitted after each request and from the startup budget
refresh for every customer with a budget attached, and reuse the
enable_end_user_cost_tracking_prometheus_only opt-in and end_user series caps

Strip only the proxy's requester_metadata. wrapper from an allowlisted key so
requester_metadata.trace_id lands as litellm.metadata.trace_id while other
dotted keys keep their full path and cannot collide on a shared leaf name

baggage_metadata_keys entries such as requester_metadata.trace_id now resolve the caller's nested metadata.trace_id and stamp it on the LLM-call span as litellm.metadata.trace_id, in both the OTEL v2 logger and the legacy OpenTelemetry callback. Nested metadata mappings are flattened to dotted paths, only allowlisted leaves are promoted, and the requester_metadata blob itself is never promoted

Pass user_api_key_dict.parent_otel_span into the outgoing W3C injection so the
legacy otel callback propagates its litellm_request span, falling back to the
otel_v2 request root span and then the ambient span. Extend the mapped unit
tests to assert the propagated trace and span ids over real captured headers
for HTTP and WebSocket passthrough with forwarding on and off.

Response-side guardrail scans on OpenAI Chat Completions, Anthropic Messages, and OpenAI Responses now carry structured_messages (the request turns scoped exactly like the pre-call scan, closed by the model's reply as an assistant turn) and tools (the request's function definitions), in addition to texts, images, and tool_calls.
Guardrails that used structured_messages or tools as a response-side signal (akto, crowdstrike_aidr, hiddenlayer, openai moderations, promptguard, qualifire, straiker) keep their previous response payloads. Logging-only scans whose output translation differs from the input translation get a chat-shaped request so the context survives.

Invalid or unknown virtual keys were filtered out of the proxy failed and total
request counters entirely. Count them with hashed_api_key unset so caller-chosen
key strings cannot create unbounded label series, and normalize the request
route on the auth failure path so dynamic path ids do not leak into the route
label either.

CodeQL flagged that TraceControls could be undefined when metadata is imported before payloads. trace_controls now depends only on utils, and the mapping / sequence narrowing parses via pydantic TypeAdapter instead of cast.

`langfuse_otel` (OTel v2) only carried `trace_name` from the caller's metadata, so `metadata.trace_user_id` / `session_id` / `tags` (and the `langfuse_trace_user_id` / `langfuse_session_id` proxy headers) never reached Langfuse's user, session and tags fields. Widen the typed caller boundary to `TraceControls`, map it through one `LangfuseMapper.trace_attributes` table on both the root observation and the generation span, and keep `team_id` / `team_alias` proxy-authoritative

Pre-call limiters reject before a deployment is attached to request_data, so
the failure hook could not resolve api_provider for router aliases and emitted
api_provider="None" on litellm_proxy_failed_requests_metric_total and
litellm_proxy_total_requests_metric_total. Fall back to the provider the
limiter already resolved onto RateLimitError.llm_provider, keeping request
data as the first source and ignoring the proxy placeholder.
