Add E2E tests covering:
- Test connection with bad credentials shows failure modal
- Adding a specific model and verifying it appears in All Models table
- Adding a wildcard route and verifying it appears in All Models table
- Verifying model dropdown shows provider-specific models (existing test updated)
Added data-testid attributes to UI components to support stable test selectors.
Tests verified passing 3/3 consecutive runs with zero flakiness.
Renames the new per-guardrail opt-out field from `disabled_global_guardrails`
to `opted_out_global_guardrails` to eliminate the one-character collision with
the legacy `disable_global_guardrails` boolean kill switch. Adds a type guard
on the new gate so a misnamed bool can't crash the guardrail check. Filters
duplicates out of the team-edit guardrail display for legacy teams that have a
global name persisted in `metadata.guardrails` from before this PR. Drops the
unused `isGuardrailsLoading` and `guardrailsError` destructures left in
AddModelForm after the hook refactor.
Adds Python tests for the new gate behavior (root, litellm_metadata, metadata,
non-matching name, empty list, malformed bool value, opt-in coexistence) and
extends useGuardrails.test.ts to exercise the global / optional partition
logic that the rebuilt hook performs in its `select` transform.
Wires the legacy kill switch and the new opt-out list together in the team
edit form so they can never fall out of sync:
- Toggling the kill switch reactively updates the Guardrails Select via
`onValuesChange` — switch on strips all globals from the selection, switch
off re-adds them. Existing opt-in extras are preserved either way.
- When the switch is on, global options in the Select are individually
disabled (greyed out) so the user can still manage opt-in guardrails but
cannot accidentally re-enable a global the kill switch is bypassing.
- The save handler writes both fields together: `disable_global_guardrails`
reflects the switch, and `opted_out_global_guardrails` is set to either
every global (when the switch is on) or the user's explicit opt-outs.
- `effectiveGuardrails` for the form's initialValues honors the kill switch
on legacy teams so the form opens in a state that matches what the runtime
gate is actually doing — fixes the visual lie where chips appeared active
while the switch was bypassing them.
The backend gate already reads the list as the primary path with the bool
as a fallback, so untouched legacy teams keep working until they get edited,
at which point they migrate naturally.
Extend useGuardrails to return the full guardrail objects plus derived
globalGuardrailNames / optionalGuardrailNames sets via React Query's
select option, instead of just an array of names. Update its existing
consumer (AddModelForm) to extract names from the new shape.
The previous shape was tailored to AddModelForm's single use case
(populate a Select with names). The team info per-guardrail opt-out
work needs default_on per guardrail to split globals from non-globals,
which the old shape couldn't provide. Consolidating into the existing
hook gives both consumers one source of truth and one React Query
cache entry instead of two parallel fetches.
- useGuardrails.ts: rewrite return type, derive global/optional sets
in select(); preserve the existing query key and auth-gate semantics
- AddModelForm.tsx: extract names from data?.guardrails.map(...)
- AddModelForm.test.tsx: update mock to return the new shape (also
fixes a pre-existing shape mismatch in the mock)
- useGuardrails.test.ts: update 3 assertions to read names via
data?.guardrails.map(...) instead of asserting against the flat array
Raise vitest testTimeout from 10s to 30s and drop per-test timeout overrides
across UI unit tests. Group CreateUserButton and TeamInfo tests under nested
describe blocks to make the most flaky suites easier to scan.
- Dockerfile.health_check: HEALTHCHECK now verifies the script is intact
instead of unconditionally exiting 0
- secureStorage.ts: replace deprecated escape/unescape with
encodeURIComponent/decodeURIComponent; don't delete legacy values on
decode failure so in-flight flows can time out naturally
- OAuth callback: add same-origin check before redirecting to stored
return URL
Port security fixes from litellm_v1.82.3.dev.6:
- Use secureStorage (sessionStorage wrapper) instead of raw storage for tokens
- Add URL validation for stored worker URLs to prevent open redirects
- Add same-origin checks before redirecting to stored return URLs
- Harden Dockerfile.health_check with non-root user and exec-form HEALTHCHECK
Add Playwright E2E tests covering proxy admin team and key management
workflows, with a self-contained test runner and CircleCI integration.
Tests cover: create team, invite user, edit/delete team members, create
key in team, regenerate key, update TPM/RPM limits, delete key, and
verify internal user keys are visible.
Infrastructure: run_e2e.sh builds the UI from source before starting
the proxy, ensuring tests always run against the latest UI changes.
Added data-testid attributes to key UI components for reliable selectors.

* fix(ui): resolve login redirect loop when reverse proxy adds HttpOnly to cookies
When LiteLLM is behind nginx-ingress or similar with security-hardened
configs, the reverse proxy adds HttpOnly to all Set-Cookie headers. This
makes the JWT token unreadable by JavaScript, causing an infinite login
redirect loop. Fix by returning the JWT token in the /v2/login response
body so the frontend can set a JS-accessible cookie directly.
Fixes#19663

* fix: address Greptile review feedback
- Add window guard to setTokenCookie for SSR consistency with clearTokenCookies
- Add SSR test for window undefined case
- Add code comment explaining why JWT is included in response body

* fix: address second round of Greptile review feedback
- Add loginCall integration tests verifying setTokenCookie is called with
token and skipped when absent (backward-compatibility path)
- Use encodeURIComponent/decodeURIComponent in setTokenCookie/getCookie
for defense-in-depth against non-standard token formats

* fix(ui): use sessionStorage instead of cookie for login token storage
Replace setTokenCookie (which is a no-op when reverse proxy adds HttpOnly)
with storeLoginToken using sessionStorage. Add sessionStorage fallback to
getCookie so the token is found even when the cookie is HttpOnly. Also handle
'=' in cookie values with .slice(1).join("=") and clear sessionStorage on
logout.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(ui): use shared getCookie in page.tsx and user_dashboard.tsx
Replace local getCookie functions in page.tsx and user_dashboard.tsx
with the shared one from cookieUtils that has the sessionStorage
fallback. Without this, the HttpOnly cookie fix was incomplete —
page.tsx (the dashboard entry point) could not read the token,
causing the redirect loop to persist.
Also scope the sessionStorage fallback to the "token" key only,
and clear sessionStorage in page.tsx deleteCookie.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(ui): scope deleteCookie sessionStorage cleanup to token key only
Also document the sessionStorage cross-tab trade-off: per-tab scope
means users behind an HttpOnly proxy must log in once per tab, but
this is intentional to avoid localStorage XSS exposure.

* fix(ui): guard storeLoginToken against empty/whitespace-only tokens
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(ui): preserve sessionStorage token across beforeunload clear
The existing beforeunload handler calls sessionStorage.clear() to
flush cached UI data on page refresh. This also wiped the token
stored by storeLoginToken, re-introducing the redirect loop after
any page refresh in the HttpOnly proxy scenario. Now the token is
saved and restored across the clear.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(ui): set JS-accessible cookie at /ui path as HttpOnly workaround
sessionStorage alone is unreliable. Also set the token via
document.cookie at path=/ui — nginx only adds HttpOnly to server-set
Set-Cookie headers, so a JS-set cookie is always readable.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(ui): use dynamic cookie path based on server_root_path
Hardcoded path=/ui breaks when LiteLLM is deployed with a custom
server_root_path. Now derives the cookie path from serverRootPath
so it works at /ui, /myapp/ui, etc.
Also reuse clearTokenCookies() in deleteCookie() to avoid duplication.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* refactor(ui): remove circular dependency in cookieUtils.ts
Derive the UI cookie path from window.location.pathname instead of
importing serverRootPath from networking.tsx. This breaks the
cookieUtils → networking → cookieUtils cycle that could cause
serverRootPath to be undefined under certain bundler configurations.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(ui): harden getUiCookiePath regex and add missing tests
- Use regex /\/ui(?=\/|$)/ to match "/ui" only as a full path segment,
preventing false matches on paths like "/my-ui-tool/login".
- Add unit tests for storeLoginToken empty/whitespace guard and
cookie-at-/ui-path behavior.

* fix(mcp): replace x-mcp-toolset-id header with ContextVar to prevent client forgery
* fix(mcp): use ContextVar + StreamingResponse for toolset MCP routes (fixes SSE streaming)
* fix(mcp): cache toolset permission lookups to avoid per-request DB calls
* test(mcp): add tests for toolset scope enforcement, ContextVar isolation, and access control
* fix(mcp): cache toolset name lookups in MCPServerManager to avoid per-request DB calls
* fix(mcp): prevent body_iter deadlock + use cached toolset lookup in responses API
- _stream_mcp_asgi_response: add done callback to handler_task that puts
the EOF sentinel on body_queue when the task exits, preventing body_iter
from hanging forever if the handler raises after headers are sent.
- litellm_proxy_mcp_handler: replace raw get_mcp_toolset_by_name() DB call
with global_mcp_server_manager.get_toolset_by_name_cached() so toolset
resolution uses the 60s TTL cache added for this purpose instead of
hitting the DB on every responses-API request.
* fix(mcp): toolset access control, asyncio fix, and real unit tests
- server.py: _apply_toolset_scope now enforces that non-admin keys must
have the requested toolset_id in their mcp_toolsets grant list;
admin keys always bypass the check.
- mcp_management_endpoints.py: three access-control fixes:
* fetch_mcp_toolsets: non-admin keys with mcp_toolsets=None now
return [] instead of all toolsets (only admins get 'all' when
the field is absent)
* fetch_mcp_toolset: non-admin keys that haven't been granted the
requested toolset_id now get 403 instead of the full result
* add_mcp_toolset: duplicate toolset_name now returns 409 Conflict
instead of an opaque 500
- proxy_server.py: use asyncio.get_running_loop() instead of
get_event_loop() inside an already-running coroutine (Python 3.10+).
- test_mcp_toolset_scope.py: replace four hollow tests that only
asserted local variable properties with real tests that call the
production fetch_mcp_toolsets() and handle_streamable_http_mcp()
functions with mocked dependencies.
* fix(mcp): add mcp_toolsets to ObjectPermissionBase, fix multi-toolset overwrite, fix delete 404, allow standalone key toolsets
* fix(mcp): add auth check on toolset resolution in responses API; union mcp_servers in _merge_toolset_permissions
* fix(mcp): handle RecordNotFoundError in update_mcp_toolset; union direct servers with toolset servers
* fix(mcp): use _user_has_admin_view; deny None mcp_toolsets for non-admin; use direct RecordNotFoundError import; fix docstring
* fix(mcp): add @default(now()) to MCPToolsetTable.updated_at; fix test for non-admin toolset access
* fix: use UniqueViolationError import; guard _ensure_eof for error/cancel only
* fix(mcp): preserve mcp_access_groups in toolset scope, use shared Redis cache for toolset perms
- Remove mcp_access_groups=[] from _apply_toolset_scope (server.py) and the
responses API toolset path (litellm_proxy_mcp_handler.py). A key's access-group
grants remain valid even when the request is scoped to a single toolset; clearing
them silently revoked legitimate entitlements.
- Switch resolve_toolset_tool_permissions and get_toolset_by_name_cached to use
user_api_key_cache (Redis-backed DualCache in production) instead of per-instance
in-memory dicts. Cache entries are now shared across workers, eliminating the
per-worker stale-toolset-permission window flagged as a P1 by Greptile.
- Use union merge (set union of tool names per server) when applying toolset
permissions in the responses API path so direct-server tool restrictions are not
overwritten by toolset permissions.
* fix(mcp): return 404 when edit_mcp_toolset target does not exist
* fix(mcp): align mcp_toolsets default to None in LiteLLM_ObjectPermissionTable
* fix(mcp): admin toolset visibility, in-place tool name mutation, test helper coercion
* fix(mcp): treat None/[] team mcp_toolsets as no restriction in key validation
* fix(mcp): allow_all_keys backward compat, blocked_tools API write-path, efficient startup query
* fix(mcp): use _mcp_active_toolset_id ContextVar to detect toolset scope, avoiding DB-default false-positive
* fix(mcp): remove dead toolset cache stubs, log invalidation failures, align schema updated_at defaults
* fix(mcp): deserialise MCPToolset from Redis cache hit, replace fastapi import in test
* fix(mcp): evict name-cache on toolset mutation, 409 on rename conflict, warning-level list errors
* fix(redis): regenerate GCP IAM token per connection for async cluster (#24426)
* fix(redis): regenerate GCP IAM token per connection for async cluster clients
Async RedisCluster was generating the IAM token once at startup and
storing it as a static password. After the 1-hour GCP token TTL, any
new connection (including to newly-discovered cluster nodes) would fail
to authenticate.
Fix: introduce GCPIAMCredentialProvider that implements redis-py's
CredentialProvider protocol. It calls _generate_gcp_iam_access_token()
on every new connection, matching what the sync redis_connect_func
already does. async_redis.RedisCluster accepts a credential_provider
kwarg which is invoked per-connection.
* refactor(redis): move GCPIAMCredentialProvider to its own file
Extract GCPIAMCredentialProvider and _generate_gcp_iam_access_token
into litellm/_redis_credential_provider.py. _redis.py imports them
from there, keeping the public API unchanged.
* fix: address Greptile review issues
- GCPIAMCredentialProvider now inherits from redis.credentials.CredentialProvider
so redis-py's async path calls get_credentials_async() properly
- move _redis_credential_provider import to top of _redis.py (PEP 8)
- remove dead else-branch that silently no-oped (gcp_service_account from
redis_kwargs.get() was always None since it's popped by _get_redis_client_logic)
- remove mid-function 'from litellm import get_secret_str' inline import
- remove unused 'call' import from test_redis.py
* chore: retrigger CI/review
* chore: sync schema.prisma copies from root
* chore: sync schema.prisma copies from root
* fix(proxy_server): use bounded asyncio.Queue with maxsize to prevent unbounded growth
* fix(a2a/pydantic_ai): make api_base Optional to match base class signature
* fix(a2a/pydantic_ai): make api_base Optional in handler and guard against None
* fix(mcp): remove unused get_all_mcp_servers import

- useKeyAliases, PaginatedKeyAliasSelect: add trailing `undefined` to
spy matchers for the new `team_id` param on `useInfiniteKeyAliases`
and `keyAliasesCall`.
- EntityUsage: mock new `TeamMultiSelect` child so QueryClientProvider
is not required for team-entity tests.
- ModelsCell: replace the overflow-accordion test with one that
verifies the new collapse-on-`all-proxy-models` behavior (no
accordion, single badge).
The Key Alias dropdown on the Virtual Keys page was showing aliases from
all teams regardless of which team was selected. The team_id was never
passed through the frontend chain to the backend /key/aliases endpoint.
- Backend: add optional team_id query param to /key/aliases endpoint
- networking.tsx: add team_id param to keyAliasesCall
- useKeyAliases: accept and forward team_id to API call and query key
- filter.tsx: pass allFilters context to custom filter components
- PaginatedKeyAliasSelect: read Team ID from allFilters and pass to hook
- Make team_id optional again, fall back to API key's team_id
(preserves backwards compatibility)
- Add PROXY_ADMIN bypass for team membership check
(admins can register guardrails for any team)
- Move get_team_membership import to module level
- Prevent extra_litellm_params spread from overwriting controlled
fields (guardrail, mode, api_base) by spreading extras first
Backend:
- Add required team_id to RegisterGuardrailRequest body
- Validate team membership before allowing submission
Frontend:
- Add useRegisterGuardrail React Query mutation hook
- Wire form onFinish to mutation, pass team_id from dropdown
- Show notification and refresh submissions on success
- Remove get_access_object from module-level import in team_endpoints.py
and use a lazy _get_access_object wrapper to avoid cyclic dependency
- Add _prisma_client is None early-exit guard in _resolve_access_group_resources
- Short-circuit UI to show "All Proxy Models" when team.models is empty
or contains "all-proxy-models", skipping access group model resolution
Add access_group_models, access_group_mcp_server_ids, and
access_group_agent_ids to /team/info and /v2/team/list responses.
These fields contain resources inherited from access groups, kept
separate from direct assignments so the UI can distinguish the source.
Backend: _resolve_access_group_resources() helper resolves access
group resources via existing _get_*_from_access_groups() functions.
UI: Teams table and detail view show direct models as blue badges
and access-group-sourced models as green badges.
Source fixes:
- page.tsx: add explicit isValidReturnUrl() check at redirect site
- public_model_hub.tsx: replace() → replaceAll() for all wildcard occurrences
- CodeSnippets.tsx: escape backslashes before quotes in generated Python
- TeamGuardrailsTab.tsx: escape backslashes before quotes in generated YAML
CodeQL suppressions for false positives:
- ChatUI.tsx: sessionStorage for apiKey/apiKeySource (sessionStorage is
correct per project policy — scoped to tab, cleared on close)
- ChatUI.tsx: setInputMessage(prompt) where prompt is a hardcoded literal
- mcp_server_edit.tsx, create_mcp_server.tsx: sessionStorage for OAuth state
- useMcpOAuthFlow.tsx, useUserMcpOAuthFlow.tsx: sessionStorage wrappers
- LoginPage.tsx: localStorage.getItem for worker URL in SSO flow

- Migrate budget CRUD from manual state to React Query hooks (useBudgets, useCreateBudget, useUpdateBudget, useDeleteBudget)
- Fix crash when budget list contains null entries by filtering in query hook
- Fix max_budget type from string to number to match DB schema (double precision)
- Disable budget_id field in edit modal to prevent accidental changes
- Use budget_id as React key instead of array index
- Update tests to mock hooks instead of networking functions
- OldTeams: refresh table via fetchTeamsV2 after team create instead of appending
- TeamDropdown: rewrite with useInfiniteTeams for paginated fetch, scroll-to-load, and debounced search
- Update all TeamDropdown consumers to use the new self-fetching API
- Dashboard layout: switch from Sidebar2 to SidebarProvider (leftnav)
- Leftnav: add MIGRATED_PAGES routing for path-based navigation (api-reference)
- Navbar: remove chat button

Adds a control plane capability that enables a central admin instance
to manage multiple regional worker proxies from a single UI.
Backend:
- Worker registry loaded from YAML config (worker_id, name, url)
- /.well-known/litellm-ui-config exposes is_control_plane and workers list
- /v3/login + /v3/login/exchange: opaque code exchange for cross-origin
username/password auth (JWT never in URL/logs, single-use 60s TTL)
- SSO cookie handoff with return_to → opaque code → exchange
- _validate_return_to: full origin validation (scheme+hostname+port)
- Startup warning when control_plane_url set without Redis
- Both /v3 endpoints gated behind control_plane_url config
Frontend:
- Worker selector dropdown on login page (gated behind is_control_plane)
- Cross-origin SSO code exchange handling on callback
- switchToWorkerUrl: localStorage-persisted worker URL for API calls
- useWorker hook: shared worker state management
- WorkerDropdown in navbar for switching workers
- Logout/switch clears worker state from localStorage
Tests:
- 7 tests for /v3/login + /v3/login/exchange
- 10 tests for _validate_return_to
- 2 tests for control plane discovery endpoint
Migrate the OldTeams table from Tremor to Ant Design components, matching the
Access Groups page pattern. Switch from /team/list to /v2/team/list for

The redirect useEffect fires before getUiConfig() completes, so
proxyBaseUrl is always "" on first render. Gate on !authLoading so
the redirect only fires after config is fetched, matching the pattern
used by the login redirect.

router.replace was called directly during render, which is unsafe in
React 18 concurrent mode. Move it into a useEffect and use a computed

The leftnav was updated to emit page="api-reference" but only "api_ref"
was in LEGACY_REDIRECTS, causing clicks to fall through to the default
Usage page. Add "api-reference" entry to the redirect map. Also include
LITELLM_UI_API_DOC_BASE_URL in the hook's initial state to avoid a
brief flash of incorrect base URL.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Move the API Reference page from query-param routing (?page=api_ref) to
Next.js path-based routing (/ui/api-reference). Add a LEGACY_REDIRECTS
map in the root page.tsx so users with old bookmarks are seamlessly
redirected. Future page migrations only need one new map entry.

Closes LIT-2171
* docs: add Quick Install section for litellm --setup wizard (#23905)
* docs: add Quick Install section for litellm --setup wizard
* docs: clarify setup wizard is for local/beginner use
* feat(setup): interactive setup wizard + install.sh (#23644)
* feat(setup): add interactive setup wizard + install.sh
Adds `litellm --setup` — a Claude Code-style TUI onboarding wizard that
guides users through provider selection, API key entry, and proxy config
generation, then optionally starts the proxy immediately.
- litellm/setup_wizard.py: wizard with ASCII art, numbered provider menu
(OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure, Gemini, Bedrock, Ollama), API key prompts,
port/master-key config, and litellm_config.yaml generation
- litellm/proxy/proxy_cli.py: adds --setup flag that invokes the wizard
- scripts/install.sh: curl-installable script (detect OS/Python, pip
install litellm[proxy], launch wizard)
Usage:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BerriAI/litellm/main/scripts/install.sh | sh
litellm --setup
* fix(install.sh): remove orange color, add LITELLM_BRANCH env var for branch installs
* fix(install.sh): install from git branch so --setup is available for QA
* fix(install.sh): remove stale LITELLM_BRANCH reference that caused unbound variable error
* fix(install.sh): force-reinstall from git to bypass cached PyPI version
* fix(install.sh): show pip progress bar during install
* fix(install.sh): always launch wizard via $PYTHON_BIN -m litellm, not PATH binary
* fix(install.sh): use litellm.proxy.proxy_cli module (no __main__.py exists)
* fix(install.sh): suppress RuntimeWarning from module invocation
* fix(install.sh): use Python bin-dir litellm binary to avoid CWD sys.path shadowing
* fix(install.sh): use sysconfig.get_path('scripts') to find pip-installed litellm binary
* fix(install.sh): redirect stdin from /dev/tty on exec so wizard gets terminal, not exhausted pipe
* fix(install.sh): warn about git clone duration, drop --no-cache-dir so re-runs are faster
* feat(setup_wizard): arrow-key selector, updated model names
* fix(setup_wizard): use sysconfig binary to start proxy, not python -m litellm
* feat(setup_wizard): credential validation after key entry + clear next-steps after proxy start
* style(install.sh): show git clone warning in blue
* refactor(setup_wizard): class with static methods, use check_valid_key from litellm.utils

* feat(guardrails): MCPJWTSigner - built-in guardrail for zero trust MCP auth (#23897)
* Allow pre_mcp_call guardrail hooks to mutate outbound MCP headers
* Enhance MCPServerManager to support hook-modified arguments and extra headers. Update tests to validate argument mutation and header injection behavior, including warnings for OpenAPI-backed servers when headers are present.
* Refactor MCPServerManager to raise HTTPException for extra headers in OpenAPI-backed servers. Update tests to reflect this change, ensuring proper exception handling instead of logging warnings.
* feat(guardrails): add MCPJWTSigner built-in guardrail for zero trust MCP auth
Signs outbound MCP tool calls with a LiteLLM-issued RS256 JWT so MCP servers
can trust a single signing authority instead of every upstream IdP.
Enable in config.yaml:
guardrails:
- guardrail_name: mcp-jwt-signer
litellm_params:
guardrail: mcp_jwt_signer
mode: pre_mcp_call
default_on: true
JWT carries sub (user_id), act.sub (team_id, RFC 8693), tool-level scope, iss,
aud, iat/exp/nbf. RSA-2048 keypair auto-generated at startup unless
MCP_JWT_SIGNING_KEY env var is set.
Adds /.well-known/jwks.json endpoint and jwks_uri to /.well-known/openid-configuration
so MCP servers can verify LiteLLM-issued tokens via OIDC discovery.
* Update MCPServerManager to raise HTTPException with status code 400 for extra headers in OpenAPI-backed servers. Adjust tests to verify the correct status code and exception message.
* fix: address P1 issues in MCPJWTSigner
- OpenAPI servers: warn + skip header injection instead of 500
- JWKS Cache-Control: 5min for auto-generated keys, 1h for persistent
- sub claim: fallback to apikey:{token_hash} for anonymous callers
- ttl_seconds: validate > 0 at init time
* docs: add MCP zero trust auth guide with architecture diagram
* docs: add FastMCP JWT verification guide to zero trust doc
* fix: address remaining Greptile review issues (round 2)
- mcp_server_manager: warn when hook Authorization overwrites existing header
- __init__: remove _mcp_jwt_signer_instance from __all__ (private internal)
- discoverable_endpoints: copy dict instead of mutating in-place on OIDC augmentation
- test docstring: reflect warn-and-continue behavior for OpenAPI servers
- test: update scope assertions for least-privilege (no mcp:tools/list on tool-call JWTs)
* fix: address Greptile round 3 feedback
- initialize_guardrail: validate mode='pre_mcp_call' at init time — misconfigured
mode silently bypasses JWT injection, which is a zero-trust bypass
- _build_claims: remove duplicate inline 'import re' (module-level import already present)
- _types.py: add TODO comment explaining jwt_claims is forward-compat plumbing
for a follow-up PR that will forward upstream IdP claims into outbound MCP JWTs
* feat(mcp_jwt_signer): add verify+re-sign, claim ops, two-token model, configurable scopes
Addresses all missing pieces from the scoping doc review:
FR-5 (Verify + re-sign): MCPJWTSigner now accepts access_token_discovery_uri
and token_introspection_endpoint. When set, the incoming Bearer token is
extracted from raw_headers (threaded through pre_call_tool_check), verified
against the IdP's JWKS (JWT) or introspected (opaque), and only re-signed if
valid. Falls back to user_api_key_dict.jwt_claims for LiteLLM JWT-auth mode.
FR-12 (Configurable end-user identity mapping): end_user_claim_sources
ordered list drives sub resolution — sources: token:<claim>, litellm:user_id,
litellm:email, litellm:end_user_id, litellm:team_id.
FR-13 (Claim operations): add_claims (insert-if-absent), set_claims (always
override), remove_claims (delete) applied in that order.
FR-14 (Two-token model): channel_token_audience + channel_token_ttl issue a
second JWT injected as x-mcp-channel-token: Bearer <token>.
FR-15 (Incoming claim validation): required_claims raises HTTP 403 when any
listed claim is absent; optional_claims passes listed claims from verified
token into the outbound JWT.
FR-9 (Debug headers): debug_headers: true emits x-litellm-mcp-debug with kid,
sub, iss, exp, scope.
FR-10 (Configurable scopes): allowed_scopes replaces auto-generation. Also
fixed: tool-call JWTs no longer grant mcp:tools/list (overpermission).
P1 fixes:
- proxy/utils.py: _convert_mcp_hook_response_to_kwargs merges rather than
replaces extra_headers, preserving headers from prior guardrails.
- mcp_server_manager.py: warns when hook injects Authorization alongside a
server-configured authentication_token (previously silent).
- mcp_server_manager.py: pre_call_tool_check now accepts raw_headers and
extracts incoming_bearer_token so FR-5 verification has the raw token.
- proxy/utils.py: remove stray inline import inspect inside loop (pre-existing
lint error, now cleaned up).
Tests: 43 passing (28 new tests covering all FR flags + P1 fixes).
* feat(mcp_jwt_signer): add verify+re-sign, claim ops, two-token model, configurable scopes (core)
Remaining files from the FR implementation:
mcp_jwt_signer.py — full rewrite with all new params:
FR-5: access_token_discovery_uri, token_introspection_endpoint,
verify_issuer, verify_audience + _verify_incoming_jwt(),
_introspect_opaque_token()
FR-12: end_user_claim_sources ordered resolution chain
FR-13: add_claims, set_claims, remove_claims
FR-14: channel_token_audience, channel_token_ttl → x-mcp-channel-token
FR-15: required_claims (raises 403), optional_claims (passthrough)
FR-9: debug_headers → x-litellm-mcp-debug
FR-10: allowed_scopes; tool-call JWTs no longer over-grant tools/list
mcp_server_manager.py:
- pre_call_tool_check gains raw_headers param to extract incoming_bearer_token
- Silent Authorization override warning fixed: now fires when server has
authentication_token AND hook injects Authorization
tests/test_mcp_jwt_signer.py:
28 new tests covering all FR flags + P1 fixes (43 total, all passing)
* fix(mcp_jwt_signer): address pre-landing review issues
- Remove stale TODO comment on UserAPIKeyAuth.jwt_claims — the field is
already populated and consumed by MCPJWTSigner in the same PR
- Fix _get_oidc_discovery to only cache the OIDC discovery doc when
jwks_uri is present; a malformed/empty doc now retries on the next
request instead of being permanently cached until proxy restart
- Add FR-5 test coverage for _fetch_jwks (cache hit/miss),
_get_oidc_discovery (cache/no-cache on bad doc), _verify_incoming_jwt
(valid token, expired token), _introspect_opaque_token (active,
inactive, no endpoint), and the end-to-end 401 hook path — 53 tests
total, all passing
* docs(mcp_zero_trust): rewrite as use-case guide covering all new JWT signer features
Add scenario-driven sections for each new config area:
- Verify+re-sign with Okta/Azure AD (access_token_discovery_uri,
end_user_claim_sources, token_introspection_endpoint)
- Enforcing caller attributes with required_claims / optional_claims
- Adding metadata via add_claims / set_claims / remove_claims
- Two-token model for AWS Bedrock AgentCore Gateway
(channel_token_audience / channel_token_ttl)
- Controlling scopes with allowed_scopes
- Debugging JWT rejections with debug_headers
Update JWT claims table to reflect configurable sub (end_user_claim_sources)
* fix(mcp_jwt_signer): wire all config.yaml params through initialize_guardrail
The factory was only passing issuer/audience/ttl_seconds to MCPJWTSigner.
All FR-5/9/10/12/13/14/15 params (access_token_discovery_uri,
end_user_claim_sources, add/set/remove_claims, channel_token_audience,
required/optional_claims, debug_headers, allowed_scopes, etc.) were
silently dropped, making every advertised advanced feature non-functional
when loaded from config.yaml.
Add regression test that asserts every param is wired through correctly.
* docs(mcp_zero_trust): add hero image
* docs(mcp_zero_trust): apply Linear-style edits
- Lead with the problem (unsigned direct calls bypass access controls)
- Shorter statement section headers instead of question-form headers
- Move diagram/OIDC discovery block after the reader is bought in
- Add 'read further only if you need to' callout after basic setup
- Two-token section now opens from the user problem not product jargon
- Add concrete 403 error response example in required_claims section
- Debug section opens from the symptom (MCP server returning 401)
- Lowercase claims reference header for consistency
* fix(mcp_jwt_signer): fix algorithm confusion attack + add OIDC discovery 24h TTL
- Remove alg from unverified JWT header; use signing_jwk.algorithm_name from JWKS key instead.
Reading alg from attacker-controlled headers enables alg:none / HS256 confusion attacks.
- Add _oidc_discovery_fetched_at timestamp and _OIDC_DISCOVERY_TTL = 86400 (24h).
Without a TTL the cached discovery doc never refreshes, so IdP key rotation is invisible.

* fix(ci): stabilize CI - formatting, type errors, test polling, security CVEs, router bug, batch resolution
Fix 1: Run Black formatter on 35 files
Fix 2: Fix MyPy type errors:
- setup_wizard.py: add type annotation for 'selected' set variable
- user_api_key_auth.py: remove redundant type annotation on jwt_claims reassignment
Fix 3: Fix spend accuracy test burst 2 polling to wait for expected total
spend instead of just 'any increase' from burst 2
Fix 4: Bump Next.js 16.1.6 -> 16.1.7 to fix CVE-2026-27978, CVE-2026-27979,
CVE-2026-27980, CVE-2026-29057
Fix 5: Fix router _pre_call_checks model variable being overwritten inside
loop, causing wrong model lookups on subsequent deployments. Use local
_deployment_model variable instead.
Fix 6: Add missing resolve_output_file_ids_to_unified call in batch retrieve
non-terminal-to-terminal path (matching the terminal path behavior)

* ci: retry flaky logging_testing (async event loop race condition)
Co-authored-by: Ishaan Jaff <ishaan-jaff@users.noreply.github.com>
* fix(ci): aggregate all mock calls in langfuse e2e test to fix race condition
The _verify_langfuse_call helper only inspected the last mock call
(mock_post.call_args), but the Langfuse SDK may split trace-create and
generation-create events across separate HTTP flush cycles. This caused
an IndexError when the last call's batch contained only one event type.
Fix: iterate over mock_post.call_args_list to collect batch items from
ALL calls. Also add a safety assertion after filtering by trace_id and
mark all langfuse e2e tests with @pytest.mark.flaky(retries=3) as an
extra safety net for any residual timing issues.

* fix(ci): black formatting + update OpenAPI compliance tests for spec changes
- Apply Black 26.x formatting to litellm_logging.py (parenthesized style)
- Update test_input_types_match_spec to follow $ref to InteractionsInput schema
(Google updated their OpenAPI spec to use $ref instead of inline oneOf)
- Update test_content_schema_uses_discriminator to handle discriminator without
explicit mapping (Google removed the mapping key from Content discriminator)
Co-authored-by: Ishaan Jaff <ishaan-jaff@users.noreply.github.com>
* revert: undo incorrect Black 26.x formatting on litellm_logging.py
The file was correctly formatted for Black 23.12.1 (the version pinned
in pyproject.toml). The previous commit applied Black 26.x formatting
which was incompatible with the CI's Black version.

* fix(ci): deduplicate and sort langfuse batch events after aggregation
The Langfuse SDK may send the same event (e.g., trace-create) in
multiple flush cycles, causing duplicates when we aggregate from all
mock calls. After filtering by trace_id, deduplicate by keeping only
the first event of each type, then sort to ensure trace-create is at
index 0 and generation-create at index 1.

* fix(mcp): fix OpenAPI OAuth flow — transport mapping, error messages, and discovery bypass
Three bugs fixed to make the end-to-end OAuth flow work for OpenAPI MCP servers:
1. **Transport mapping in getTemporaryPayload**: `TRANSPORT.OPENAPI` is a UI-only concept;
the backend only accepts `"http"`, `"sse"`, or `"stdio"`. The pre-OAuth temp-session
call was sending `transport: "openapi"` and getting a 422. Fixed by mapping to `"http"`.
2. **deriveErrorMessage handles FastAPI 422 arrays**: FastAPI validation errors return
`detail` as an array of `{loc, msg, type}` objects. The shared error extractor was
returning the array directly, causing `Error: [object Object]`. Fixed to map each
item to its `.msg` field.
3. **Skip OAuth discovery when authorization_url already provided**: `build_mcp_server_from_table`
was unconditionally calling `_descovery_metadata(server_url)` for OAuth servers. For
OpenAPI servers the url is the spec JSON file, not the API base — this caused a timeout
fetching e.g. the GitHub spec (2 MB). Fixed by skipping discovery when `authorization_url`
is already set.
Also: collapsible auth section in MCP server form, "Create OAuth App →" link next to
Client ID when a docs URL is available (e.g. GitHub OAuth App creation page), and
`extractErrorMessage` helper in `useMcpOAuthFlow` for cleaner error display.
* refactor(mcp): extract needs_discovery flag and reduceStaticHeaders helper
* feat(mcp): user OAuth connect flow — OAuthConnectModal, MCPCredentialsTab, useUserMcpOAuthFlow
Adds the user-facing MCP OAuth2 PKCE connect flow:
- OAuthConnectModal: modal that launches the PKCE flow for a user to connect to an MCP server
- MCPCredentialsTab: credentials management tab in the MCP apps panel
- useUserMcpOAuthFlow: hook that handles the full PKCE auth code exchange for user-level connections
- MCPAppsPanel: wires up the new credentials tab and connect modal
- ChatPage: further cleanup after responses-API revert
- db.py / mcp_management_endpoints.py / _types.py: backend support for storing user MCP credentials
* fix(mcp): make client_id optional in /authorize — use server's stored client_id when not provided
* address greptile review feedback
* fix(mcp): narrow bare except to RecordNotFoundError in BYOK credential delete
* refactor(mcp): move inline imports to module level in db.py
* docs(claude): add MCP OAuth, transport mapping, and browser storage patterns
* fix(security): remove accessToken from sessionStorage in OAuth flow state
The LiteLLM API key was being serialised into sessionStorage as part of
StoredFlowState. After the OAuth redirect the component re-mounts with the
same accessToken prop, so it never needed to be stored. Read it from props
in resumeOAuthFlow instead.
* fix(ui): remove duplicate extractErrorMessage, sessionStorage-only in admin OAuth hook, call delete API on disconnect
* fix(ui): guard resumeOAuthFlow against wrong hook instance consuming OAuth result
* fix(ui): separate OAuth result keys per flow, sessionStorage-only, surface revoke errors
* fix(ui): remove dead OAuthConnectModal, revert tsconfig jsx mode to preserve
* fix(mcp): guard BYOK overwrite in oauth credential store, raise clear error when client_id absent
* fix: forward OAuth error params in callback, fix BYOK guard exception handling in db.py
Allow users to recheck health for individual MCP servers by clicking
the health status badge. On hover the badge text changes to "Recheck"
with a refresh icon, and the check runs only for that server.

* feat(ui): add Chat UI v0 — standalone LiteLLM-branded chat window
Adds a full chat UI accessible from the sidebar Chat link (opens in new tab).
- Standalone route at /chat (outside dashboard layout — no Navbar/Sidebar chrome)
- Claude.ai-style layout: model selector top-left, LiteLLM logo center, settings top-right
- Greeting with time-of-day, centered input card, suggestion chips (Write/Learn/Code/Brainstorm)
- Sliding conversation history sidebar with Cmd+K search, rename, delete, date grouping
- localStorage-backed conversation persistence (litellm_chat_history_v1)
- Streaming completions via makeOpenAIChatCompletionRequest with AbortController stop support
- MCP server picker (toggle servers on/off per conversation)
- LiteLLM aesthetic: white/light-gray background, Ant Design blue (#1677ff) primary, system font
- Sidebar2: Chat menu item opens in new tab via window.open
* feat(chat-ui): responses API + MCP tool execution display
- Switch /chat from chat completions to responses API (previous_response_id session chaining)
- Add MCP server picker with search filter in chat input bar
- Show MCP tool call events (list_tools + call_tool) inline in chat via MCPEventsDisplay
- Add tool chip strip showing available tools when MCP servers are selected
- Non-blocking MCP toggle: server added immediately, verification in background (works for no-auth MCPs like deepwiki)
- Add truncateAfterMessage to useChatHistory for edit/retry
- Sync activeConversationId on URL change (fixes stale conversation on new chat)
- Add "Open Chat" shortcut button to sidebar
* fix(chat-ui): switch to responses API, remove dead code, add tests
- Switch handleSend from makeOpenAIChatCompletionRequest to makeOpenAIResponsesRequest with previous_response_id session chaining
- Add responsesSessionId state; reset to null when starting a new conversation
- Remove unused ChatInputBar.tsx and ModelSelector.tsx (dead code)
- Add tests/test_litellm/test_chat_ui_responses_session.py covering previous_response_id forwarding and signature validation
* fix(chat-ui): address greptile review issues
- Reset responsesSessionId when activeConversationId changes (not just on new conversation)
- Wire onMCPEvent callback into makeOpenAIResponsesRequest; render MCPEventsDisplay below messages
- Clear mcpEvents on each new send
- Explicitly filter history to user/assistant roles only (no tool-role casting)
- Remove duplicate "Chat" menu item from sidebar (pinned button serves same purpose)
- Make Sider a flex column so "Open Chat" button actually pins to bottom
- Fix tests to intercept real HTTP requests and assert previous_response_id in body
* fix(chat-ui): address greptile review feedback (greploop iteration 1)
- Fix duplicate context: when responsesSessionId is set, only send the
new user message as input (prior context is already server-side via
session chaining). Full history is still sent on the first turn.
- Fix ephemeral MCP events: store events per-message in ChatMessage.mcpEvents
instead of ephemeral component state. Events now survive across turns
and render inline below each assistant response via MCPEventsDisplay.
- Remove stale mcpEvents useState and ephemeral panel at bottom of chat.
* fix(chat-ui): address greptile review feedback (greploop iteration 2)
- Fix stale session on edit/retry: derive previousResponseId as null when
historyOverride is set so edit/retry always starts a fresh Responses API
session rather than chaining off a now-invalid prior session
- Fix unsafe MCPEvent cast: import MCPEvent directly from MCPEventsDisplay
into types.ts and type ChatMessage.mcpEvents as MCPEvent[], eliminating
the bare 'as MCPEvent[]' cast in ChatMessages.tsx
* fix(chat-ui): fix MCPEvent layering, batch localStorage writes, module-level test imports
- Move MCPEvent interface definition into chat/types.ts (single source of truth)
- MCPEventsDisplay.tsx now imports MCPEvent from types.ts instead of defining it locally
- Batch MCP event localStorage writes: accumulate during stream, persist once in finally
- Move test imports to module level per PEP 8 convention
* fix(chat-ui): fix MCPEvent import path and rename truncateFromMessage
- responses_api.tsx now imports MCPEvent directly from chat/types (not via MCPEventsDisplay re-export)
- Remove the now-unnecessary MCPEvent re-export from MCPEventsDisplay.tsx
- Rename truncateAfterMessage → truncateFromMessage: the function removes the target message and all subsequent ones (not just what comes after), so the new name accurately describes the behavior
* fix(responses-api): fix whitespace token filter and MCP server URL construction
- Drop the delta.trim() whitespace filter that was silently swallowing spaces
and newlines during streaming, causing words to concatenate and paragraphs
to collapse. Only skip truly empty strings (delta.length > 0).
- Use proxyBaseUrl for MCP server_url construction instead of the hardcoded
relative path "litellm_proxy/mcp", so non-root deployments route correctly.
* fix(responses-api): use unique server_label per MCP server to prevent tool routing collisions
* fix(chat-ui): move MCPEvent to shared mcp_tools/types, skip partial events on abort
- Move MCPEvent interface to mcp_tools/types.tsx (shared with MCPServer/MCPTool),
eliminating the playground→chat cross-module dependency. chat/types.ts and
both playground components now import from mcp_tools/types.
- Only persist accumulated MCP events when the stream completes cleanly; aborted
or errored turns drop partial events to avoid showing incomplete tool calls.
* fix(responses-api): use server_name for MCP URL routing, fix test path
- Use server_name (not alias) as the URL path segment for MCP server_url;
alias is a display name that may differ from the registered proxy route.
URL-encode the path to handle names with spaces/special characters.
- Fix sys.path.insert in tests to use __file__-relative path so tests pass
regardless of which directory pytest is invoked from.
* fix(chat-ui): fix stale session after failed edit, clean MCP event persistence, unique server_label
- Eagerly call setResponsesSessionId(null) when historyOverride is set so a
failed/aborted edit does not leave a stale session contaminating the next turn
- Replace abort-signal check with streamCompletedCleanly flag to correctly skip
MCP event persistence on both abort and non-abort errors (network/API failures)
- Use server_name (unique) as server_label instead of alias to prevent silent
tool-routing failures when two MCP servers share the same display name
