test(e2e): add Other suite and Guardrails coverage incl. an MCP tool-call guardrail (#34149)
* test(e2e): add other suite covering master-key auth and health lifecycle Covers the other.* holding-pen cells that were uncovered: master-key valid_allows/invalid_denied on the admin /user/list gate, and the lifecycle probes liveness.ping, readiness.public_probe, readiness.reports_db_status, and readiness_details.authenticated_diagnostics. New tests/e2e/other/ suite on the shared ProxyClient; the health probes send no auth header to prove the public routes need no credential, and the details route is asserted to reject an anonymous caller while exposing version/db diagnostics to the master key. * test(e2e): cover block_code_execution and openai_moderation guardrails Extends the guardrails suite with two built-in guardrails registered per request (default_on=False, opted in via the chat body's guardrails selector) so neither intercepts unrelated traffic on the shared proxy. block_code_execution.pre_call.blocks: a python code block plus a run-this request is intercepted with the canned content-blocked message and the model never runs, while the same code block asked about with don't-run-it reaches the model. Verified live. openai_moderations.pre_call.blocks: a flagged prompt is rejected 400 naming the moderation policy while a benign prompt passes. The guardrail calls OpenAI's moderation API; verifying it needs an OpenAI key with moderation quota (this account currently 429s the moderation endpoint). Adds a shared create_backend_model helper and a generic register() plus per-request guardrails/max_tokens on the client so more built-ins can reuse the same path. * test(e2e): cover presidio PII masking (pre_call + post_call) Registers a presidio guardrail per request (default_on=False) with the analyzer/anonymizer bases supplied in the registration params, so the test controls its own dependency and needs no proxy restart. presidio.pre_call.masks: a repeat-verbatim request comes back with the <EMAIL_ADDRESS> placeholder and never the raw email, proving the prompt was anonymized before the model saw it. presidio.post_call.masks: with apply_to_output the model's own emitted email is masked on the way out, so the caller never receives the raw value. Both verified live against real presidio analyzer + anonymizer containers. logging_only is intentionally not covered: /spend/logs exposes no prompt messages to read back the masked log, and a logging_only run also masked the response, contradicting its contract; noted in the module docstring for a follow-up. * test(e2e): cover presidio logging_only masking via OTEL read-back Adds the third presidio cell, guardrail.presidio.logging_only.masks. The logging_only contract (mask what is logged, do not block) is verified by reading the request's gen-AI span back from the real OTEL destination: the span's gen_ai.input.messages attribute carries the <EMAIL_ADDRESS> placeholder, never the raw email, and the call itself is not blocked. Reads the trace via the shared OtelReader, promoted from logging/ to the suite root so both suites use it. The masked prompt is polled to a deadline because logging_only masks the payload asynchronously and the span can briefly export before the mask lands. Drops the throwaway chat_send in favor of the existing transport.send for the call-id capture. * fix(e2e): tolerate cross-pod guardrail sync delay in team-opt-out test Stage runs multiple gateway pods behind the shared key. POST /guardrails registers a new default-on guardrail in-process immediately only on the pod that served the create call; every other pod picks it up on its next periodic DB sync (proxy_server.py, every 30s), so the very next chat call can race a pod that has not synced yet. Poll to a 40s deadline instead of asserting on the first response, matching the existing pattern in test_budget_reset_advances_e2e.py. * test(e2e): cover a guardrail on the MCP tool-call path (content_filter pre_mcp_call) Adds guardrail.litellm_content_filter.pre_mcp_call.blocks: against the real Datadog MCP server, a content_filter guardrail configured mode=pre_mcp_call blocks a banned keyword in an MCP tool call's arguments with HTTP 400 attributed to the pre_mcp_call hook, and lets a clean argument reach the upstream server. The guardrail attaches with default_on because per-key/request guardrail selection is dropped from the synthetic MCP request the hook sees; the banned keyword is unique per run so default_on only intercepts this test's own call. mode must be pre_mcp_call - a pre_call config silently no-ops on tools/call because the event type is rewritten for call_mcp_tool. Drives the tool directly via /mcp-rest/tools/call for a deterministic check of the same pre_mcp_call enforcement the OpenAI-SDK chat path hits when a model invokes an MCP tool. * fix(e2e): mid-conversation messages test uses client.proxy not client.gateway EndpointsClient exposes .proxy after the Gateway->ProxyClient rename; the mid-conversation system test still referenced .gateway, which fails the e2e basedpyright gate. Aligns it with the rest of the harness. * test(e2e): address review on the guardrail coverage MCP tool-call guardrail: poll the banned call until the guardrail is enforced instead of asserting on the first call, so the control-plane -> data-plane guardrail sync cannot race the check into a false pass-through; add a repeat banned call after enforcement to guard against a partial-propagation state. OpenAI moderation: distinguish a moderation-endpoint 429 (rate limit / no moderation quota) from a guardrail failure, so an account-capability gap reads as such rather than as "did not block". Runs green with a moderation-capable key. * test(e2e): close partial-propagation false-pass in MCP guardrail block test The single post-block repeat call could be load-balanced back to the same already-synced data-plane pod, so the test could pass while another pod still lacked the guardrail and let the banned MCP call reach Datadog. Anchor a wait to the guardrail create time (every pod is guaranteed to have DB-synced only after a full ~30s sync interval), then require the banned call to stay blocked across several attempts; a pass-through after that window is a real leak, not a race. * test(e2e): drop xfail-style rate-limit branch from openai_moderation test OpenAI's /v1/moderations is free and returns 200 with the env key (verified directly), so the RateLimitedError branch mislabeled the failure: a 429 there is insufficient_quota (no account billing), not throttling. The branch also only printed a softer message before failing anyway, an xfail-in-disguise the e2e rules forbid. A 429 now falls through and fails loudly with the full result. |

* test(e2e): assert the long budget window keeps blocking after the short window resets
The multi-window budget tests proved the tight window blocks and self-heals
but never asserted the other direction: a long (1d) window whose cap the
accumulated spend already crossed must keep refusing calls even inside a
fresh short window. Adds one test per file (key and team) that drives spend
to a block, waits for the short window's reset_at to strictly advance (the
reset job zeroes that window's counter in the same pass), then polls until
the refusal is attributed to the 1d window ("over 1d budget"), failing
immediately if any call succeeds or a non-budget error leaks. Harness gains
per-window reset_at readback: BudgetWindowState in models.py and
key_window_reset_at / team_window_reset_at on BudgetClient.
* refactor(e2e): hoist shared budget-suite helpers into budget_client
drive_to_block and as_datetime existed as five and four per-file copies in
the budgets suite; both move to budget_client with each file keeping a thin
delegating wrapper so call sites and per-file pacing stay unchanged. The
three /team/info readers in budget_client now share a private _team_info.
Also guard the long-window reset_at snapshots with explicit non-None asserts
so the midnight-roll diagnostic cannot misreport when the window is missing
from the info response (greptile P2s).
* docs(e2e): tighten the multi-window module docstrings
* refactor(e2e): type window reset_at as datetime and expose plain window readers
BudgetWindowState.reset_at becomes a pydantic-parsed datetime, so the
multi-window tests compare real datetimes instead of hand-parsing strings.
The duration-keyed accessors are replaced by two plain readers,
key_budget_windows and team_budget_windows, with the pure window_reset_at
lookup exported; the client no longer encodes one test's access pattern.
* test(e2e): name the tiny short-window cap and comment the wait loops
* test(e2e): surface the 429 budget-block assert in the multi-window tests
drive_to_block now returns the blocking response so a test body can assert
on its shape; the two long-window tests assert status 429 explicitly, which
also pins the multi-window enforcement path's HTTP mapping (the enforcement
suite only covers the single-budget path). Other callers ignore the return
and are unchanged.
* refactor(e2e): scope this PR to the multi-window test, drop the cross-suite hoist
The helper hoist rewrote four unrelated budget test files (reset, reset_advances,
team_member_reset, user_across_keys) to pull drive_to_block and as_datetime out
of budget_client, which is refactor churn beyond this PR's multi-window scope.
This restores those four to their pre-PR state and gives the two multi-window
tests their own inline drive-to-block loop again, so the PR touches only the
multi-window feature: its two tests plus the budget_client window readers and the
reset_at datetime typing they actually use. The suite-wide helper dedup can land
on its own PR

The probes now take an injected Gateway and issue their request through the shared count_tokens/messages methods, reusing the split control/data-plane routing, timeout, and typed Result handling the rest of tests/e2e uses. test(e2e): add Locust throughput load test that runs last (#33748)
CodSpeed benchmarks the SDK with no IO, so it can't catch regressions that only appear under real concurrent load through the full proxy stack (auth, routing, logging, spend, Postgres, Redis). This adds a Locust load test under tests/e2e/load that drives concurrent POST /chat/completions traffic against a mock deployment (litellm_params.mock_response), so the measured throughput reflects proxy overhead rather than a provider's latency, and asserts an aggregate RPS SLO with a failure-ratio guard. The test is marked load and the parent conftest sorts load-marked items last so it never perturbs latency-sensitive suites. Covers reliability.perf.throughput.under_slo. |

test(e2e): rename Gateway to ProxyClient and expose it as a session-scoped fixture (#33750)
The shared proxy wrapper in tests/e2e/e2e_gateway.py was misnamed: Gateway is not a gateway server, it is the client every suite uses to talk to the proxy (keys, models, chat/embed/ocr, spend read-backs, poll helpers). Rename the module to proxy_client.py and the class to ProxyClient, with build_gateway becoming build_proxy_client and the GatewayProvider protocol becoming ProxyClientProvider. The .gateway attribute suites held is now .proxy. Only identifiers changed; prose and string literals that use the word gateway for the proxy-server concept were left alone. Each suite previously built its own instance through a per-suite build_client() that called build_gateway() inside, duplicating the proxy wiring across suites. There is now one session-scoped proxy fixture in tests/e2e/conftest.py; every suite's client fixture depends on it and injects it, so the wiring lives in one place. claude_code keeps building its own client directly since it has its own harness and does not use the shared fixtures. Behavior is unchanged: shared transport, data-plane/control-plane split routing, poll budget, typed request/response models, and resource cleanup all go through the same object. |

test(e2e): mcp suite for key-without-access denial (#33752)
Add an e2e suite at tests/e2e/mcp/ that proves MCP authorization over the api_key auth family. An admin registers an upstream MCP server through the management API (POST /v1/mcp/server, persisted in the DB and picked up without a restart) and queues its deletion. Two keys are created against that one server: one granted access through object_permission.mcp_servers and one with no MCP grant. The permitted key is a live control proving the upstream is reachable and the tool is callable, so a denial on the ungranted key is an authorization decision rather than a dead server. The denied key then sees none of the server's tools on tools/list and is refused a tools/call with a 403 access_denied. A deterministic self-hosted FastMCP upstream (add/multiply over streamable-http) is added to the e2e compose stack so the suite runs offline with a known tool set. KeyGenerateBody gains an optional typed object_permission so the shared gateway can create a key with an MCP grant. |

Every claude_code compat cell used to read its own `LITELLM_PROXY_BASE_URL` and `LITELLM_PROXY_API_KEY` and duplicate the same 12-line "missing env, hard fail" block. The rest of `tests/e2e/` reads `LITELLM_PROXY_URL` and `LITELLM_MASTER_KEY` from `e2e_config.py`, so anyone standing up a live proxy for one suite had to export a second spelling for claude_code, and every cell repeated the same boilerplate.
Centralize the resolution in `claude_code/_env.py`. `resolve_proxy()` prefers the suite-wide `LITELLM_PROXY_URL` / `LITELLM_MASTER_KEY` names and falls back to the legacy pair so existing CI wiring on stage keeps working during the roll-out. `require_proxy(compat_result)` is the one-liner cells call to bind `(base_url, api_key)` or hard-fail with a message that names both spellings.
55 cell files, `_basic_messaging.py`, and the driver's own unit-test fixture now go through the helper. `run_compat.sh` accepts either spelling and normalizes to the primary names before invoking pytest. `cron_vm/run_daily.sh` exports the primary names when launching pytest.
`_pr_gate_unit_tests/test_env_resolution.py` pins the resolution rules so a future edit cannot silently reintroduce the drift: primary names win on tie, legacy names still resolve when primary is unset, mixed URL-primary key-legacy still resolves, empty-string exports are treated as unset, `require_proxy` names both spellings in its error message.
Net diff: 71 files, +370/-1240.
* fix(e2e): anchor claude_code Bash pin at parents[1] so container run collects
`test_bash_tool_restrictions.py` derived `REPO_ROOT = Path(__file__).resolve().parents[4]` and then joined `tests/e2e/claude_code/<feature>`. That works locally, but the stage container mounts tests/e2e/ at /app/e2e/, so parents[4] resolves to filesystem root and the `_bash_cells()` assertion looks for `/tests/e2e/claude_code/tool_use` — a path that doesn't exist. Collection interrupts before any test runs, so the entire e2e suite appears broken.
Fix: `CLAUDE_CODE_DIR = Path(__file__).resolve().parents[1]` resolves to the sibling `claude_code/` dir in either layout, and the `relative_to(REPO_ROOT)` calls become `relative_to(CLAUDE_CODE_DIR)` so test IDs and error messages read the same.
Adds `test_claude_code_dir_anchor_is_layout_independent` as a regression pin: it checks the anchor lands on a directory named `claude_code` that contains this test file, which would fail under the old parents[4] anchor when run from /app/e2e/.
* feat(e2e/claude_code): register compat deployments via /model/new from a session fixture
Every compat cell hardcodes a virtual model name like `claude-sonnet-4-6` or `claude-sonnet-4-6-bedrock-invoke` and hits the proxy expecting it to be routable. On stage those live in the deployed model_list; locally the `docker-config.yaml` under tests/e2e/ only declares one of them, so anything past haiku 400s with `Invalid model name`.
`claude_code/test_config.yaml` is the ground-truth compat matrix config the deployment already uses. `_compat_models.py` loads it, normalizes the yaml keys pydantic would silently drop (vertex_ai_* → vertex_*), and selects the subset whose provider credentials are present in the environment. An autouse session fixture in `conftest.py` POSTs each selected deployment to `/model/new`, blocks until it is servable on the data plane, and tears them all down on session exit. Skips silently when the proxy env is unset so pure-unit runs stay hermetic.
`test_compat_models.py` pins the invariants that keep this safe. Every cell-referenced name must have a yaml entry (drift check catches a cell probing a name the fixture never registered); the yaml has no unused declarations; the fixture registers exactly 15 deployments (3 tiers × 5 provider surfaces); vertex_ai_* yaml keys populate the pydantic body's vertex_* fields (they got silently dropped historically); Azure needs both AZURE_FOUNDRY_* env vars; Bedrock lifts creds from the ambient AWS chain; Vertex needs both the yaml refs AND ambient GCP credentials.
* refactor(e2e/claude_code): inject env + runner instead of monkeypatching
`require_proxy` and `_basic_messaging.run_basic_messaging_cell` now take the env mapping (and the CLI runner) as constructor-style arguments with `os.environ` and `run_claude_models_parallel` as defaults. Tests exercise the branching by passing dicts and callables directly, so `monkeypatch.setenv` and `monkeypatch.setattr(_basic_messaging, "run_claude_models_parallel", ...)` are gone from every unit test in this refactor's blast radius.
`test_env_resolution.py` drops the `monkeypatch.setenv`/`delenv` fixtures and passes `env={...}` dicts to `require_proxy`. Added a new pinned check that a successful resolution leaves `compat_result` untouched, and split the "unset env" test into three explicit shapes (empty, primary-only, legacy-only) so a regression that swaps the precedence rule can no longer hide behind a single monkeypatched fixture.
`test_basic_messaging.py` (driver) replaces the `_install_fake_runner(monkeypatch, ...)` helper with `_make_fake_runner(...)` that returns a `(callable, captured_dict)` pair the test passes in via the helper's new `runner=` kwarg. Also drops the autouse `_proxy_env` fixture in favor of a module-level `_PROXY_ENV` dict each test wires through the helper's new `env=` kwarg. Added a regression pin that a missing-env call hard-fails without ever invoking the runner (so the guard order stays correct).
`test_run_daily_pytest_scrubs_env.py` updates its pin to assert the new suite-wide env spellings (`LITELLM_PROXY_URL` / `LITELLM_MASTER_KEY`) instead of the legacy `LITELLM_PROXY_BASE_URL` / `LITELLM_PROXY_API_KEY` that `run_daily.sh` used to export.

test(e2e): probe the full spend read surface including schema-hidden routes (#32267)
* fix(e2e): route model management to the control plane and restore Gateway.create_model
The split-transport routing table listed only /model/info as a control-plane
prefix, so /model/new and /model/delete were sent to the data-plane gateway,
which does not serve management routes and 404s them. Every suite that
registers deployments at runtime (llm_translation, batches, access_control)
failed on the split stage deployment because of this. Widen the prefix to
/model/ so all model-management routes reach the control plane while /models
stays on the data plane.
Separately, batch_client.py and several llm_translation tests call
gateway.create_model, but Gateway never had that method, so all 17 batch tests
errored at fixture setup with AttributeError. Add create_model/delete_model to
Gateway (with the optional mode that batches needs) and make EndpointsClient
delegate to it instead of carrying its own copy.
Regression tests cover both: the routing predicate for management vs LLM paths
and the Gateway model-management surface via a typed fake Transport. Both fail
on the previous code

The rust OCR smoke lived under tests/e2e/gateway and spoke raw httpx with ad-hoc dataclasses, diverging from the rest of tests/e2e. Move it to tests/e2e/llm_translation and rebuild it on the shared harness: typed pydantic bodies in models.py (OcrDocument/OcrBody/OcrPage/OcrResponse), a Gateway.ocr() route through the shared transport, Result/unwrap for outcomes, the e2e marker, and the client/scoped_key fixtures. No test touches httpx or requests directly now. Behavior preserved: the config-presence check still reads gateway/litellm-config.yml without a proxy, /model/info confirms the proxy loaded every rust-ocr deployment, and each provider case asserts a well-formed OCR document over /v1/ocr. Also add tests/e2e/CONTRIBUTING.md documenting the end-to-end testing flow so new features land with coverage that walks the feature like production does. |

The team multi-window budget test documents a real /team/new write bug (budget_limits go straight to the Json? column and Prisma 500s, unlike the json.dumps'd key and /team/update paths) and was left as an unconditional hard failure, which would turn any live-proxy CI run red; mark it xfail(strict=True) like the custom-pricing isolation test so the suite stays green while the bug persists and flips to a failure the moment the write is fixed and the marker should go. The class-scoped member fixture in test_team_member_budget_e2e.py tore down its key, user, and team sequentially with no exception isolation, so a failed delete_key would strand the user and team on the long-lived shared proxy. Route cleanup through a ResourceManager: register each delete progressively and run them LIFO best-effort in a finally, so a partial-setup failure still releases what came before and one failed delete never blocks the rest. * test: add realtime proxy e2e suite across providers Add tests/realtime_e2e covering the proxy realtime websocket endpoint end to end against live providers (openai, azure, gemini, vertex_ai, bedrock, xai). Two layers: a raw-websocket suite asserting the normalized OpenAI GA event sequence, delta/transcript consistency, usage, and a full tool-call round-trip; and a pipecat smoke driving the proxy through the GA OpenAIRealtimeLLMService. Remove the duplicate cache/cache_params block in the gateway config so the two
can't silently diverge under future edits. Reorder the soft-budget test to assert
the call isn't a budget block before require_successful_call, since that helper
hard-fails any non-2xx and left the budget-block check unreachable; the misleading
"skip" comment is corrected. Add a deferred delete in test_budget_delete_removes_it
so a failed delete doesn't leak a budget on the shared proxy. Scope the
spend_tracking sys.path insertion in pytest_sessionfinish to just the cleanup
import so a broader "pytest tests/" run isn't left with a mutated path.
* test(e2e): drop misleading skip comment on require_successful_call
require_successful_call fails hard, it does not skip; the trailing
comment was factually wrong. The function name already states intent,
so the comment is removed in both per-model and tag budget helpers.
* test(e2e): assert budget-isolation invariant before success check
On the should-still-succeed path of the per-model and tag isolation
tests, check is_budget_block before require_successful_call. If the
isolation bug fires the unaffected model/tag is blocked, so asserting
the specific 'blocked by X' invariant first yields the diagnostic
message instead of a generic upstream-failure. Matches the ordering in
test_soft_budget_e2e.py.
* fix(e2e): guard spend-log truncate on skip and stop returning unrelated priced rows
* fix(e2e): run case init() inside try so partial-init failures tear down
run_case called case.init() outside the try/finally that runs teardown(), so a
case that registers cleanups progressively (create team, then user, then key)
and then fails partway through init() would leak the already-created entities on
the long-lived shared proxy. Move init() inside the try so teardown always runs.
Add a regression test that registers a cleanup then raises mid-init and asserts
the resource is still released.
* test(e2e): mark known pricing-leak isolation test xfail(strict)
test_custom_pricing_is_isolated_from_sibling_deployment documents a real proxy
gap (a deployment's custom per-token pricing leaks into the shared cost map for
sibling deployments of the same underlying model) and was left unconditionally
failing, which pollutes the suite's pass/fail signal. Mark it xfail(strict=True)
so the suite stays green while the leak persists and turns into a failure the
moment isolation is fixed, prompting the marker's removal.
* refactor(e2e): make suite pass its shipped strict basedpyright config
The suite ships tests/pyrightconfig.json (strict, no Any), but basedpyright
--project tests reported four errors in it: three reportAny on the parametrize
ids=lambda c: c.__name__, and one reportUnusedFunction on the underscore-prefixed
autouse fixture _require_live_proxy. Replace the untyped lambda with a typed
_case_id(case_cls: Type[_BudgetCase]) -> str so the ids are no longer Any, and
rename the fixture to require_live_proxy so basedpyright no longer treats it as an
unused private function (it is referenced only by pytest's autouse machinery).
basedpyright --project tests now reports zero errors.
* fix(tests/e2e): gate spend-log truncate on e2e marker, not test directory
* test(e2e): run harness unit tests without a live proxy
The autouse session fixture skipped the whole tests/e2e session when no proxy
answered, which also skipped test_lifecycle.py, a pure unit test of run_case that
never touches the proxy. A regression test that silently skips gives no signal,
so the skip now lives in pytest_runtest_setup gated on the same e2e marker the
spend-log truncate guard already uses: live tests skip when no proxy is up while
harness unit coverage always runs. The liveness probe is cached with lru_cache so
it still runs once per session
* test(e2e): clean up gateway config comment debris
Fix the typo on the header comment and drop the orphaned namespace/ttl
comment remnants left indented under cache_params; the active values are
already set above. Flagged by greptile review.
* fix: add new tests, split gateway
* test(e2e): type the redis spend-counter probe for strict basedpyright
The new cold-counter reseed test drove its redis client untyped, so the strict
tests/pyrightconfig.json (reportUnknown*, reportAny) flagged ten errors once the
file landed: scan_iter/get came back unknown and the pool.map lambda had an
untyped parameter. Annotate the client as redis.Redis[str] via a TYPE_CHECKING
import (the runtime import stays lazy so the suite still skips, not errors, when
redis is absent), which resolves scan_iter to Iterator[str] and get to str | None,
and replace the lambda with a typed inner function mirroring _burst. basedpyright
--project tests is back to zero errors.

The spend-tracking e2e client swallowed every non-200 from /spend/tags into an
empty list, so a real server error or a response-shape mismatch showed up only as
the generic "tag never appeared in /spend/tags" with no diagnostics. That masking
is what made the original cluster failure undiagnosable.
spend_by_tags now raises SpendTagsError carrying the actual HTTP status and body
for any non-Success result, and poll_tag_spend fails fast on a hard server error
rather than polling it into a timeout; eventual consistency only manifests as a
200 whose payload does not yet carry the tag, so only that case waits. The tag
test now reports the last observed status and asserts the endpoint returned 200
at least once, with no weakened assertions.
Hardening surfaced the real defect in the test itself: /spend/tags returns a
top-level JSON array (List[LiteLLM_SpendLogs]), but the client validated against a
SpendTagsResponse dict wrapper that never matched, so every call fell through to
the empty-list mask. Wired spend_by_tags to the existing TagSpends RootModel and
removed the dead SpendTagsResponse model. Verified against the real Postgres that
request_tags is stored as proper JSONB arrays and /spend/tags aggregates them
correctly, so there is no encoding bug to fix here.
* test(e2e): drop flaky test_tag_spend_matches_sum_of_tagged_logs
The test wrote tagged requests and polled /spend/tags expecting read-after-write
consistency. /spend/tags itself is fine; verified live that request_tags is stored
as a JSON array and the endpoint reflects a fresh tag within seconds, so the
failures were a timing flake under full-suite load rather than a real defect.
Coverage is retained by test_request_tags_round_trip (tags persist onto the row)
and the /spend/tags route probe in test_spend_routes.py.
Also remove the now-dead tag-spend scaffolding this test was the only user of:
poll_tag_spend, spend_by_tags, TagSpendPoll, SpendTagsError, the TagSpend/TagSpends
models, and their imports.
* test(e2e): widen budget-reset wait windows to de-flake wall-clock-aligned resets
The short-window reset tests asserted the reset landed within WINDOW_SECONDS + 45
(~75s), but the 30s budget window is wall-clock-aligned, so the reset can land up
to a full window after start, then the rescheduler (~15-20s) zeroes the spend, plus
poll and DB lag. A real run measured 84s, just over the 75s bound, and which of the
short-window siblings tripped flipped run to run. Widen the wait loops to 150s and
the elapsed assertions to WINDOW_SECONDS + 90 (120s for the key test). A genuinely
stuck rescheduler is still caught by the wait-loop timeout, so this only removes the
timing flake, not the regression signal.
* test(e2e): let the spend-counter reseed test reach a cluster-mode TLS redis
The test's _redis() built a standalone, non-TLS client on the docker-compose
defaults (localhost:6380), so against the EKS serverless ElastiCache (cluster-mode
+ TLS) it could never connect and the test skipped. Honor E2E_REDIS_SSL and
E2E_REDIS_CLUSTER so it builds a TLS RedisCluster client when the deploy provides
them, and E2E_REDIS_NAMESPACE so the counter is read with a direct GET (cluster-safe)
rather than a keyspace scan that can't span shards. The local standalone path and the
graceful skip-on-unreachable behavior are unchanged.
* test(e2e): take the direct-GET spend-counter path on E2E_REDIS_CLUSTER
The gateway's cache sets no namespace, so the counter key is the bare
spend🔑<hash>. Trigger the cluster-safe direct GET on E2E_REDIS_CLUSTER (not
only on E2E_REDIS_NAMESPACE) so the cluster deploy need not set a namespace it
does not use; the namespaced key is still tried first when a namespace is given.
* test(e2e): use REDIS_HOST/REDIS_PORT and drop the unused redis knobs
The runner is a standalone test pod, so the proxy's own REDIS_HOST/REDIS_PORT
names are unambiguous - no E2E_ prefix needed. The only deployed redis it talks
to is the serverless ElastiCache (always TLS + cluster), so that is inferred from
REDIS_HOST being set rather than carried as ssl/cluster knobs. Stage sets no cache
namespace (bare counter key, read directly on the cluster) and is passwordless, so
the namespace and password env are gone; the local namespace is still handled by
the standalone SCAN.
* test(e2e): replace the vacuous failure-row test with per-model attribution
test_failure_call_writes_failure_status_row had two skip hatches (the call did
not fail, or no failure row landed) and never asserted anything on this proxy -
gemini accepts an empty message (HTTP 200), and live failure-row logging is
non-deterministic across providers. Replace it with a deterministic check: one
key calling gemini-2.5-flash and claude-haiku-4-5 gets one spend row per call,
each carrying its own model and a nonzero cost, under distinct request_ids that
match the call's response id. Verified live on stage (gemini/gemini-2.5-flash
$0.00053, anthropic/claude-haiku-4-5 $0.000038, distinct ids matching the
responses). Failure-status row construction stays covered by the unit suite.
* test(e2e): assert /spend/logs returns the key's spend without 5xx
Regression for the intermittent 500s on /spend/logs (DB query / serialization
errors under load). The existing spend_logs() helper swallows non-success
responses into an empty list, so a 500 looks identical to 'rows not flushed yet'.
This test queries the endpoint directly and asserts a Success response on every
poll, failing loudly on any 5xx, then requires the call's nonzero spend to surface.
