fix(responses): bill every round of a streamed MCP auto-execute on one spend row (#47445)
* test(responses): cover billing every round of a streamed MCP auto-execute * fix(responses): bill every round of a streamed MCP auto-execute on one spend row * fix(responses): bill every round of a streamed MCP auto-execute on bridged providers A streamed /v1/responses MCP auto-execute on a provider bridged through chat completions (for example Anthropic) billed only round 1, because each round's chat stream dispatched on the shared logging object and the first dispatch won. Bridged rounds now go through the same one-row billing as native rounds. A round is billed as soon as its chat stream ends, before its closing events reach the client. The row carries the final response, usage and cost summed over every round, and the fixed margin once. A round served from the response cache is billed at zero. A follow-up chat stream that breaks bills the paid rounds on its failure row. A single-round stream logs exactly as before. * fix(responses): charge one fixed margin and keep bridged usage fields on streamed MCP rounds A follow-up round that fails after earlier rounds were billed now charges the per-request fixed margin once, and its failure row carries no cost breakdown that would disagree with the summed cost. A bridged multi-round stream logs a plain cache_hit flag like a single-round stream does, and its usage keeps the summed provider usage fields of every round. A new test covers a stream dropped after its event loop closed, which must release its parked log without an unawaited coroutine warning. * fix(responses): price each streamed MCP round on its own and bill every round when a guardrail blocks Each round of a streamed MCP auto-execute is now priced from its own uncached cost, so a provider that states its cost (xAI) charges the stated cost of every round plus the fixed margin once, and the cost breakdown always agrees with the billed cost. Summed usage goes through a JSON-safe dump, so a nested provider field such as xAI's context_details no longer breaks a failed stream's response.failed event. A post-call guardrail that blocks a multi-round bridged stream now drops the parked success log and bills every round on the failure row, and a failed follow-up round's failure row carries the summed breakdown of both rounds. * fix(responses): keep earlier MCP rounds on their success row when a later round fails When a later round of a streamed MCP auto-execute fails, the rounds before it are now logged on their success row, and the failure row bills only the failed round with no second fixed margin. That failure log runs on its own copy of the request's logging state, so its usage and cost never leak into the earlier rounds' row. A post-call guardrail that blocks a native multi-round stream keeps the summed success row beside the $0 failure row, as at the merge base, while a bridged stream still bills every round on its failure row. * fix(responses): keep a failed later MCP round on its own failure row A streamed MCP auto-execute whose later round failed wrote only the earlier rounds' success row. The failure was logged on a copy of the logging state, while the proxy builds its failure row from the request's own state, which by then held the success payload, so the failure row took the success row's id and was dropped. Now the failure is logged on the request's own state as at the merge base, and once a later round starts, the success row for the rounds before it is logged from a copy of the state taken at that moment, so the two rows never mix. * fix(proxy): let an MCP tool call reuse its request's max_parallel_requests slot * test(proxy): create the other-request task in a way Python 3.10 supports and mark its bindings Final * fix(proxy): keep a reused max_parallel slot until the request's last round An MCP tool call that reuses its request's max_parallel_requests slot no longer loses it to the first round's late success callback, so the key stays counted for the rounds still to run. The reused call also stops replacing the request's rate limit headers. * fix(responses): keep an unpriced streamed MCP round unpriced instead of billing it as free * fix(responses): log a bridged MCP stream as a chat completion with every round's usage |

fix(logging)!: redact Responses instructions and callback output (#43315)
* fix(logging): redact Responses instructions and callback output * fix(logging): avoid copying Responses output twice * fix(logging): return redacted Responses output without mutation * fix(logging): type Responses redaction payloads * fix(logging): redact streamed Responses instructions * fix(logging): redact request-side Responses instructions in logged params and spend log bodies * fix(redaction): keep per-callback opt-out off shared instructions and skip redacted replays A callback that sets message_logging=False no longer strips instructions from sibling callbacks, the spend log, or the client's response. Dict logging surfaces keep the reasoning config, and previous_response_id no longer sends the redacted placeholder upstream as the system prompt. * fix(redaction): redact instructions in an opted-out callback's own copy A callback with message_logging=False now gets instructions redacted in its kwargs copy and response object, while sibling callbacks and the spend log keep them * fix(redaction): give a message_logging false callback its redacted copy on sync calls The sync log_success_event and log_stream_event branch now hands an opted-out callback the same copy as the async path. * fix(redaction): redact a message_logging false callback's sync copy and keep failure estimates whole Give an opted-out callback a copy with messages, input, prompt, the sync stream's complete_response and its response object redacted, and stop the proxy's failed request estimate from counting the redaction marker in place of real instructions * test(redaction): wait on callback events instead of sleep polls The new redaction tests now wait for each callback to log through an event it sets, so they no longer poll on a timer * test(redaction): expect redacted follow-ups to replay no instructions This PR stops bridged previous_response_id follow-ups from reusing instructions the spend log stored redacted, so the integration test from #45923 that asserted the replay now asserts that neither the original instructions nor the redaction sentinel reach the provider * test(proxy): type the redacted-instructions failure estimate test --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(proxy): bill partial Responses API streams when the client disconnects (#47611)
* fix(proxy): bill partial Responses API streams when the client disconnects Streamed /v1/responses requests and the default-route OpenAI and Azure /v1/messages requests behind them logged a 499 with zero spend when the client went away mid-stream, while /v1/chat/completions already billed the chunks it had sent. The Responses API iterator now keeps the response.created payload and can hand the disconnect cleanup a response.incomplete event with counted usage and the served service_tier, and the messages-route byte stream and router wrappers delegate to it. * fix(proxy): satisfy lint gates for partial Responses API disconnect billing Make the disconnect helper public so the proxy, router and messages adapter can import it without reportPrivateUsage, type the SSE byte stream as an AsyncGenerator so aclose is known, read litellm_call_id off the logging object, and keep the new tests on Final locals with the recorder injected through dynamic_async_success_callbacks instead of litellm.callbacks. * fix(router): bill the primary stream's tokens after a mid-stream hop and chat-bridge Responses streams on disconnect The router's fallback wrapper now folds the primary Responses stream's relayed tokens into the fallback's disconnect event the way _combine_responses_fallback_usage does for a natural end of stream, and LiteLLMCompletionStreamingIterator (chat-only providers served through /v1/responses) builds its disconnect event from the chat completion chunks it collected. stamp_responses_usage_cost is now public so the bridge module can price that event. * Potential fix for pull request finding 'CodeQL / Log Injection' Co-authored-by: Copilot Autofix powered by AI <62310815+github-advanced-security[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> --------- Co-authored-by: devin-ai-integration[bot] <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Copilot Autofix powered by AI <62310815+github-advanced-security[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(responses)!: count input tokens the way inference sends the request (#47363)
* fix(count-tokens): translate chat tool use before Claude token counts Responses and chat tool use (function tools, function_call items, tool messages) is now converted the way Claude chat inference converts it before the Anthropic, Azure AI and Vertex partner counters call count_tokens. Translation errors answer 400 before any provider call. Anthropic-shaped requests and /v1/messages/count_tokens keep their body as sent. * test(count-tokens): compare Claude count bodies with inference for Responses tool use * fix(responses): forward the caller's Responses body to OpenAI token counts OpenAI deployments now get the caller's /v1/responses/input_tokens body as sent, minus LiteLLM-only fields, so OpenAI's own count and errors come back. previous_response_id is checked for ownership like inference and routes to the deployment that served it * fix(responses)!: count Claude Responses bodies the way inference sends them Non-native Responses counts now run the body through the inference bridge, so text.format, tool_choice, reasoning, built-in tools, and file_search count the way inference sends them on Anthropic, Azure AI, Vertex, and Bedrock. The OpenAI native count body uses the drop_params-resolved tool fields. * fix(responses): honor drop_params and replay previous turns in Claude counts Claude input_tokens counts now read the same drop_params setting inference merges from the deployment, router defaults, and request, so a forced tool_choice downgrades to auto under drop_params. previous_response_id replays the stored turns through inference's session loader, and chat messages carrying fields beyond role and content go through the provider's chat translation * fix(responses): keep proxy-only request keys out of OpenAI counts and map chat tools in Bedrock counts * fix(count-tokens): import on Python 3.11 and keep stored prompts in OpenAI counts under drop_params * fix(responses): leave tool_choice out of counts when drop_params drops every tool * fix(count-tokens): count Mantle options, drop cache marks, and reject input inference cannot send The Bedrock Mantle fallback now counts thinking, tool_choice and output_config like the runtime count. Claude Responses counts leave out cache_control marks again, so more than four marks count instead of failing. Counts answer 400 before any provider call for user blocks chat inference refuses and for Responses tools with no Chat Completions equivalent, instead of dropping the block or counting a placeholder tool. Adds the wire tests for these paths * fix(count-tokens): count Responses tools the way the inference bridge sends them A Claude count now hoists additional_tools input items into tools, strips a malformed tool flag under drop_params and rejects it without, and leaves tools out when the deployment lists tools in additional_drop_params, so the count matches the body Claude inference sends for the same request * fix(count-tokens): keep Bedrock runtime counts option-free and send OpenAI the provider file id * test(count-tokens): capture the Anthropic count request at the HTTP layer instead of patching the handler * fix(count-tokens): ignore a caller-sent file id mapping and keep non-string file ids as sent |

fix(responses): keep strong refs to stream and websocket logging tasks (GC race) (#31074)
* fix(responses): keep strong refs to stream and websocket logging tasks * test(responses): patch _spawn_logging_task instead of asyncio.create_task The success-logging dispatch in _log_completed_response now goes through _spawn_logging_task, so tests that patched asyncio.create_task no longer observed it (and the sync ones hit get_running_loop with no loop). * test(responses): assert stream and websocket logging tasks survive garbage collection Adds regression tests that force a collection while the logging task waits on an otherwise unreferenced future, and types the new test parameters * test(responses): drive drain and GC tests through a real logging object with gated callbacks * test(responses): use asyncio.wait_for so the logging tests run on Python 3.10 * test(guardrails): type the spawn_logging_task tracking wrapper --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(dashscope): add separate explicit and implicit cache pricing (#45567)
* feat(dashscope): price Qwen implicit context-cache reads separately * fix(dashscope): normalize implicit cache price strings * fix(dashscope): price explicit cache hits through an explicit_ override key Keep cache_read_input_token_cost as the default (implicit) Qwen cache-read rate, which the cost map already holds, and add explicit_cache_read_input_token_cost for hits DashScope tags with cache_type "ephemeral". Untyped and unknown cache types keep the base rate, so older releases reading the remote cost map keep billing unchanged. Add explicit cache-read and cache-creation rates to the qwen3.7-max rows. * fix(types): accept explicit_cache_read_input_token_cost as a constructor keyword * fix(dashscope): inherit the explicit cache price on custom deployments and keep tier rates all-or-nothing Deployments that set only input and output prices now inherit explicit_cache_read_input_token_cost from the cost map, so explicit hits bill at the explicit rate. A pricing tier without its own explicit rate bills its own cache_read rate instead of the model-level explicit one, matching how an off-peak block falls back. The DashScope calculator now delegates the explicit rate to the shared resolver, and the register_model warning is back to main's wording. * fix(dashscope): keep a deployment's own cache-read price for explicit hits and ignore a non-string cache_type * fix(dashscope): keep cache_type through Responses usage and let a registered cache-read price cover explicit hits --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(mcp)!: bill both model calls of a chat completions MCP auto-execute on one spend row (#47422)
* test(mcp): cover one spend row billing both rounds of a chat completions MCP auto-execute * fix(mcp): bill both model calls of a chat completions MCP auto-execute on one spend row * fix(mcp): keep provider usage fields when summing both chat rounds of an MCP auto-execute * fix(mcp): log each auto-executed MCP tool call under its own spend-log id A chat MCP auto-execute logged its tool calls under the request's call id, which is also the id of the request's failure row. When the follow-up call failed, the database kept the tool row and dropped the failure row that bills the paid first call * test(mcp): cover the margin, cache, failure row and parallel tool rows of MCP auto-execute billing |

feat(router)!: apply each deployment's reasoning_effort_levels on every provider and route (#46601)
* feat(router): apply each deployment's reasoning_effort_levels on every provider and route A deployment's declared reasoning_effort_levels now decide the effort sent upstream on /v1/chat/completions, /v1/messages and /v1/responses for every provider. Requests round up by default, litellm.reasoning_effort_rounding and model_info.reasoning_effort_rounding switch to down, a declaration lets providers like azure_ai accept reasoning_effort, and each remap logs one INFO line with structured fields. * fix(router): round reasoning effort only on a deployment's own declared levels Cost map levels no longer round requests or force-allow reasoning_effort, so undeclared sibling deployments and catalog-only models behave as on main. A declaring deployment lets azure_ai accept any level the resolver sends, and a hosted_vllm chat thinking budget is rounded too. * fix(router): drop undeclared reasoning effort under drop_params and round native /v1/messages effort Under drop_params a level outside the deployment's reasoning_effort_levels is dropped instead of sent. Providers that take /v1/messages natively now round output_config.effort onto the deployment's declaration. The rounding setting ignores case and surrounding spaces. * fix(router): strip line breaks from every field in the reasoning effort remap log * fix(router): round thinking-budget efforts onto a declaring deployment on every provider * fix(router): keep the caller's thinking display when rounding a thinking budget on adaptive Claude Warn on a reasoning_effort_rounding value other than up or down instead of silently rounding up * test(integration): cover deployment reasoning_effort_levels rounding on chat, messages and responses Wire cells assert the exact body each provider receives when a deployment declares reasoning_effort_levels, plus undeclared controls, malformed input, drop_params, rounding settings, fallbacks, model groups, live updates and the response cache. Chaos cells cover a killed worker, a proxy restart, an upstream outage, a slow stream and the INFO remap log. * test(integration): cut held streams when the upstream stops in the reasoning effort chaos cell The upstream-stop cell waited for the held streams before stopping the upstream, so they only ended on a client or proxy timeout and the result depended on which fired first. The upstream now stops while the streams are held, and each cut stream must carry an error and no answer * fix(router): round thinking budgets only on declaring deployments and round Converse output_config An undeclared hosted_vllm deployment serving a Claude model name now maps a thinking budget the same as any other undeclared hosted_vllm deployment. A model_info that echoes a cost map key no longer borrows that entry's levels. A non-numeric thinking.budget_tokens answers 400, or is dropped under drop_params, where main answered 500. A declaring Bedrock Converse Claude deployment now rounds output_config.effort, which /v1/messages sends for Claude Code * test(integration): cover output_config rounding and non-numeric thinking budgets in the reasoning effort cells * test(integration): keep an explicit reasoning_effort winning over a malformed thinking budget on hosted_vllm * test(integration): cover output_config rounding on openai, azure and azure_ai chat * fix(hosted_vllm): let an explicit effort win over a malformed budget and reject one on /v1/messages An explicit reasoning_effort beside a non-numeric thinking.budget_tokens keeps main's behavior again. A declared hosted_vllm deployment with a Claude model name maps a budget through the generic table instead of the adaptive Claude one. /v1/messages to a non-Claude target hands a malformed budget to completion(), which answers 400 or drops it under drop_params, where it answered 500 * fix(router): drop thinking beside an explicit effort when a declaring deployment's provider cannot read it * test(integration): cover malformed thinking budgets on /v1/messages to non-Claude targets * fix(anthropic): answer 400 for a malformed thinking budget on /v1/messages to any non-Claude model, or drop it under drop_params * test(integration): cover an explicit effort beside thinking on azure_ai and drop_params on the /v1/messages bridges * fix(anthropic): answer 400 for a malformed thinking budget through adapter_completion without drop_params * fix(anthropic): type the adapter_completion request so the drop_params read adds no unknown argument * fix(router): a default effort beside a thinking budget sends no effort on chat Chat now leaves the budget-derived effort out when the caller's effort resolves to none or asks output_config for one, matching /v1/messages. The chat thinking decision moves into resolve_chat_reasoning so completion() stays under basedpyright's complexity limit. * test: type respx_mock and mark the adapter result Final in the reasoning effort tests * fix(router): keep the caller's thinking beside a kept effort and the budget effort beside a dropped one A non-default output_config.effort beside a thinking budget now leaves the thinking as sent, so Bedrock Invoke keeps display updates. A level drop_params drops counts as never sent, so the budget still sets the effort. output_config.effort replaces a thinking budget the provider cannot read, and a non-numeric string budget on adaptive Claude answers 400 in place of 500, or drops under drop_params. * fix(router): send a kept output_config effort as reasoning_effort where the provider cannot read thinking On a declaring hosted_vllm or azure_ai deployment, a thinking budget goes out as reasoning_effort. An output_config.effort beside it now takes that slot, rounded onto the declared levels, instead of leaving only output_config, which those backends ignore. * fix(reasoning-effort): honor global drop_params for a non-numeric budget and keep the budget effort beside a dropped /v1/messages level * fix(reasoning-effort): send a level a gpt-5 deployment declares even where the cost map does not list it * fix(reasoning): apply declared levels on azure_ai gpt-5 and reject a bool thinking budget on adaptive Claude * fix(router): drop a thinking budget's effort that a deployment declaring no ranked levels excludes A deployment declaring [] or ["none"] skipped the budget check, so adaptive Claude still sent the budget-derived output_config.effort under drop_params on chat, Bedrock Converse, and native /v1/messages. The adaptive thinking now goes out without that effort * fix(anthropic): reject a false, null or empty thinking budget on adaptive Claude |

fix(sdk): decide MCP gateway routing without importing the proxy handler (#45961)
* fix(mcp): keep the gateway handler off the SDK path when no tool is an MCP tool completion(), responses() and anthropic messages imported the MCP gateway handler whenever tools were passed, and responses() did so on every call. Since the handler began importing the MCP catalog at module level in #42568, that import needs the optional mcp package, so a base SDK install failed with ModuleNotFoundError on any function-tool call and on every responses() call A new import-safe pre-check skips the handler unless some tool is a dict of type mcp, which is the only shape the handler's gateway decision can accept. MCP gateway tools still reach the handler as before Adds in-process regression tests for the three entry points and a function-tool completion to the base SDK install check * fix(mcp): leave one-shot tool iterables unread in the gateway pre-check responses() declares tools as an Iterable and the handler scans the same object a second time, so a pre-check that read a generator would hand the handler one tool fewer. The pre-check now scans only collections and reports anything else as possibly naming the gateway, which keeps the previous path The Anthropic messages regression test now mocks the httpx layer with respx and turns off the aiohttp transport, instead of replacing AsyncHTTPHandler * fix(mcp): scan only lists and tuples in the gateway pre-check The pre-check read any Collection, but a Collection that yields its items only once would still be exhausted by the handler's second scan. Only the list and tuple builtins are guaranteed to iterate the same way twice, so they are the only inputs read now. Everything else keeps the previous path and is reported as possibly naming the gateway The unread-input test now covers a generator, an iterator, a one-shot collection and a deque * fix(mcp): scan only exact list and tuple types in the gateway pre-check isinstance accepted list subclasses, and a subclass that iterates only once would still be consumed by the handler's second scan. The fast path now reads only objects whose type is exactly list or tuple. Every other input, subclasses included, keeps the previous path and is reported as possibly naming the gateway The unread-input test gains a one-shot list subclass and a tuple subclass * fix(sdk): decide MCP gateway routing without importing the proxy handler The pre-check now holds the handler's exact gateway test, so remote MCP tools, mcp 1.x installs and any tools iterable stay off the handler, and the base SDK check calls responses() with a remote MCP tool. * fix(sdk): send /mcp/<name> remote MCP URLs to the provider when the gateway registry cannot load A path-only /mcp/<name> match now counts as a gateway tool only when the MCP server registry imports, so SDK installs without the proxy extras pass remote MCP servers like Zapier to the provider. Also drops a dead test patch. * test(sdk): send a /mcp/<name> remote MCP tool in the base SDK install check * style(sdk): drop docstrings from the MCP gateway pre-check and its tests * test(mcp): cover /mcp/<name> gateway routing on the proxy and Messages tools on a base SDK install --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(router)!: count native Responses WebSocket turns toward deployment limits and budgets (#45727)
* fix(responses): write one spend-log row per native WebSocket turn Each response.create turn on a native Responses WebSocket connection now logs its own call as it finishes, with its own usage and the resp_ id the client saw as request_id. A failed turn is booked alone and no longer flips the other turns. * fix(responses): bill the usage a failed native WebSocket turn reports * fix(proxy): pin the limiter slot owner to the proxy call id and refund unsettled reservations on disconnect The v3 limiter stashed whichever litellm_call_id the request body carried as the slot owner, so a client-supplied id on a pass-through body left the proxy's own success and failure events unable to release the slot. The owner is now the proxy's logging call id. A WebSocket connection whose turns log under their own ids never settles the TPM, ITPM, or OTPM estimate the connection reserved, so the disconnect release now refunds any reservation no callback settled, once. * fix(proxy): bill failed WebSocket turns and refund only the reserved window on disconnect A failed turn's reported usage now counts toward the key's TPM and the project ITPM/OTPM scopes the same way a success does, and closing the socket hands back only the estimate still unused in the window that holds it, so a window that already rolled is left alone. An id-less error event is booked against the newest pending turn, the one the backend rejected at parse time, and a turn that nests its input under response logs its user message. A connection's one budget reservation goes to the first turn that settles it, every later turn charging its cost directly. * test(proxy): expect the settling call id on a pass-through budget reservation * fix(proxy): charge successful Responses WebSocket turns to TPM and ITPM/OTPM A native Responses WebSocket turn reaches the rate limiter's success callback with its raw event list as the response and no combined_usage_object, so the turn's tokens never reached the key's TPM window or the project's input and output token limits. Read the usage from the turn's events when the call type is a Responses WebSocket turn. * fix(proxy): release a rejected pass-through's slot and count each websocket turn once toward project quotas The limiter's failure hook looked up the parallel slot by the request body's litellm_call_id, while the slot belongs to the proxy's logging call id, so a pass-through request a pre-call hook rejected held its slot for an hour when its body carried an id. Both now resolve the id the same way. Each response.create frame already charges its estimate to project ITPM/OTPM, so the turn's own usage no longer adds a second count. The cost callback's failure hook read the body's litellm_call_id through a strict model and raised on a non-string value, which dropped the failure row. It now reads a string id or none. * fix(proxy): keep per-turn WebSocket limits, request bodies and collector reservations right Free a rejected request's parallel slot through the request it runs in, and skip native Responses WebSocket connections, whose disconnect frees the slot. Count WebSocket turns toward the connection's tag TPM. In collector mode, claim the shared budget reservation before the spend event is built, so only the first turn settles it. Store each turn's own frame as its request body, and send an id-less error to the oldest waiting turn unless an earlier turn is streaming. * fix(proxy): store a failed WebSocket turn's own request and count tag TPM only for calls that carry the tag * fix(responses): log the client's turn frame, keep the payload id and reservation shape for non-WebSocket calls * fix(proxy): keep the legacy limiter's WebSocket slot until the socket closes * fix(router): count native Responses WebSocket turns toward deployment limits and budgets * fix(router): re-check deployment budget and RPM on each Responses WebSocket turn * test(router): list the WebSocket turn admission method as covered through its partial * fix(responses): give a refused WebSocket turn's error frame a 429 status so Codex ends the turn * fix(router): leave ITPM/OTPM to socket open and record a refused WebSocket turn as the socket's failure * fix(proxy): log the routed model group on a WebSocket turn's failure row * fix(router): count WebSocket turn tokens toward TPM and re-run routing strategy checks on each turn * test(integration): cover per-turn admission on Responses WebSockets Adds integration cells for budget, RPM, TPM, a mid-socket TPM edit, usage-based-routing-v2, the project quota frame, and the open-time failure frame on the native and managed relays, plus HTTP controls for TPM counting and the failure row model_group * fix(responses): count WebSocket turn tokens once and end a socket whose turn check fails A native Responses WebSocket turn is now logged as an async call, so a proxy with a sync success callback such as the response cache no longer runs each CustomLogger's sync success hook on top of the async one. That second run counted every turn's tokens twice toward deployment TPM. A turn whose admission check raises an unexpected error now gets a 500 error frame, the socket closes with 1011, and the error becomes the socket's failure, on both the native and the managed relay, instead of the socket dropping with no frame and no failure row. A refused turn's failure row now carries the request's tags from the router's metadata, the same way it already carries the model group. * test(integration): cover a crashed WebSocket turn check and failure-row tags A turn whose admission check raises gets a 500 server_error frame, the socket closes with 1011 and its one failure row carries the error, on both relays. The refused turn's failure row keeps the caller's tags, and HTTP failure rows on chat, responses and messages keep them too. * fix(responses): keep a WebSocket open after a crashed turn check and keep only string tags on failure rows A turn whose admission check raises an unexpected error still gets a 500 error frame, but the socket now stays open, like a refused turn. Closing it cut any turn still streaming on the same socket, which a client that sends its next response.create early would lose. A refused turn's failure row now takes the router's tags only when every tag is a string, so the fallback never copies a caller's unvalidated tags onto the row. * test(integration): cover a turn still streaming when the next WebSocket turn's check crashes A native turn still streaming when the next turn's admission check raises now has its own cell. It must complete and be billed at the turn's price. The crashed-check cell also keeps the fault set for one more turn, so a relay that stopped checking turns after a crash goes red. * fix(responses): run per-turn guardrails before the deployment's turn check on WebSockets A turn after the first now runs the project quota check, then the proxy's pre_call guardrails, then the deployment's turn admission, on both the native and the managed relay, the order HTTP calls use. A turn a guardrail blocks gets the guardrail's error even past the budget and no longer counts toward the deployment's rpm or runs its pre-call checks. * fix(responses): bill a WebSocket turn's guardrail cost when the deployment refuses it A turn the per-turn guardrail passes and the deployment then refuses now writes its own failed spend row with that turn's guardrail information, on both relays, the way a guardrail-blocked frame and an HTTP refusal already do * fix(responses): bill a refused WebSocket turn on one row only A refused turn whose guardrails recorded a cost is already billed on its own row, so it no longer also becomes the connection's close-time failure row * fix(responses): bill a refused WebSocket turn's guardrail cost on the socket's failure row The turns a deployment refuses after their guardrails passed now add their guardrail records to the socket's close-time failure row instead of a row of their own, so that row's failure hooks, model group and call type cover them * fix(responses): bill a WebSocket's refused turns when the session limit closes it * fix(responses): bill refused WebSocket turns when the session limit cancels the relay * fix(responses): free the WebSocket slot at the session limit without waiting on the failure row * fix(responses): keep the session limit's second cancel so a relay that swallows the first frees the slot * fix(responses): free the WebSocket slot before the close-time failure row and drain pending rows at shutdown * fix(proxy): commit spend before waiting on pending logging tasks at shutdown and again after * fix(responses): start the close-time failure row before the slot release so a late cancel cannot drop it * fix(responses): build the close-time failure row inside its task so a bad guardrail record cannot skip the crash close * fix(proxy): always commit spend again after the shutdown wait for pending logging tasks --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(streaming)!: map stream read timeouts to litellm.Timeout on chat, messages, and responses (#47198)
* fix(streaming): map stream read timeouts to litellm.Timeout * revert(streaming): move the timeout mapping to a later commit * fix(streaming): map stream read timeouts to litellm.Timeout on chat, messages, and responses * fix(streaming): keep stream fallback and cooldown unchanged for transport timeouts A chat stream served through the Responses bridge now keeps mid-stream fallback on a stall, because the fallback exemption also covers a litellm.Timeout whose cause is an httpx transport timeout. The Responses stream hands the raw transport error to failure callbacks again, so router cooldown sees a stall as it did before. The 408 deployment info now lists stream_timeout. * test(integration): cover a stalled hosted_vllm stream on chat, Responses, and Messages with its spend log row * fix(router): keep a fallback deployment whose stream stalled out of cooldown * test(integration): cover bridged chat, fallback and cooldown for stalled hosted_vllm streams |

fix(router)!: bound fake-streamed calls by the request timeout, not stream_timeout (#47162)
* fix(router): bound fake-streamed calls by the request timeout, not stream_timeout A stream=True call that the provider serves as one non-streaming request (Bedrock Converse for json_schema on models without native structured output, tools on some Llama models, ai21) gets no byte until generation ends, so stream_timeout acted as a total-duration cap. The Router now passes timeout and stream_timeout separately to chat completion calls, and completion() applies stream_timeout only when it reads a live stream. * test(timeout): cover stream_timeout on live streams only and the router's timeout split * fix(router): cover every fake-stream site and keep the target group's stream_timeout under prompt management * fix(router): never shorten a fake stream below stream_timeout, and split timeouts on every surface A faked stream now takes the longer of timeout and stream_timeout, so a caller who raised stream_timeout to cover a slow fake stream keeps that headroom. Azure o-series dispatch is mirrored when deciding whether a stream is faked. text_completion, /v1/messages and /v1/responses through the Router now get timeout and stream_timeout separately, like chat calls. * fix(router): report the effective stream timeout, split adapter streams, and cover M365 and Rust messages * fix(router): report and log the timeout each stream was bounded by Native /v1/messages and /v1/responses now record the timeout they applied, so x-litellm-timeout and the cooldown guard read the real limit instead of the raw request value. A prompt-managed model also passes on only the caller's or its own timeout, so the target deployment's timeout still wins. * fix(router): keep the caller's request_timeout on a prompt-managed handoff and report the applied stream limit * fix(router): give streams answered in one piece the longer limit and accept text timeouts on responses * fix(router): give /v1/messages and /v1/responses streams answered in one piece the longer limit * test(integration): cover faked, live and converted stream timeout limits per endpoint * test(router): regression tests for faked-stream timeouts |

fix(router)!: stop a chat-mode Mantle deployment from rewriting the shared Responses routing row (#46263)
* fix(router): stop a chat-mode Mantle deployment from rewriting the shared Responses routing row A deployment with an explicit custom_llm_provider and model_info.mode: chat used to overwrite the shared litellm.model_cost row, moving every other deployment and plain SDK calls onto Chat Completions until restart, because the downgrade guard read a double-prefixed key and never fired. The guard now reads the real key, and a deployment's own mode decides its routing in responses_api_bridge_check, except on chatgpt and github_copilot where Chat Completions is dead for responses-mode models. Co-Authored-By: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> * test(responses): keep the bridge-check mode tests in the sharded bridge flag file Co-Authored-By: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(responses): let a deployment mode pin replace only the shared-row mode so the bridge capability rules still run Co-Authored-By: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(responses): keep Responses-only backends bridged under a deployment chat pin and satisfy the type gate Co-Authored-By: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(responses): give the bridge casts a reason and drop the bare noqa so the type discipline gate passes Co-Authored-By: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(responses): keep a responses row with no supported_endpoints bridged under a deployment chat pin Co-Authored-By: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(router): read the downgrade guard's mode from the row registration writes A chat-mode openai/<name> deployment merged into the bare <name> row while the guard read openai/<name>, so the guard never fired and the shared responses row turned to chat. An explicit responses/ prefix now also outranks a deployment's chat pin. * fix(router): let an explicit responses/ prefix outrank a registered chat row The router now registers a chat-pinned openai/responses/<model> deployment under its own name, so the lookup found mode chat and the request went to Chat Completions as responses/<model>. * fix(router): keep the shared row's mode for every deployment pin and honor the pin on /v1/messages A deployment's mode pin now never rewrites the shared cost-map row in either direction, including the responses/-stripped twin key, so siblings and SDK calls keep routing by the registered mode. The backend key formula goes back to main's, which keeps capability fields off rows that registration never wrote at base. The /v1/messages adapter and handler read the deployment's model_info, so a chat-pinned deployment gets a plain reasoning effort on chat completions. * fix(router): keep copilot responses opt-in, make unmapped pins order-free, send Mantle auto summary as auto A responses pin on a github_copilot model or a model missing from the cost map still marks the shared row, since that is how those models opt into the Responses API. A chat pin never marks a row, so registration order no longer matters. Mantle's OpenAI path gets summary auto in place of the auto summary detailed. The Azure o3-pro and o3-deep-research rows drop Chat Completions, which Azure does not serve for them. * fix(router): skip a non-string model_info.mode when keeping the registered mode * fix(router): keep chat-pinned Mantle tool calls and summaries on the Responses API A Mantle row that also serves the Responses API now follows the GPT-5 tool and reasoning summary bridge rules, since Mantle Chat Completions rejects function tools on gpt-5.4+ unless reasoning is off and rejects the summary aliases. Mantle chat gets a dict reasoning_effort as its effort level. The opt-in auto summary asks each Responses config for its level, auto on Mantle's OpenAI path, so a client's own detailed summary follows drop_params as at base. No mode replaces a registered responses mode, and chatgpt and github_copilot rows take any pin until they are responses, which restores the Copilot chat opt-out. * fix(responses): ask the target for its auto summary level on the chat bridge and reasoning_effort * test(integration): run the Mantle region-prefixed v1 base case again This PR routes that deployment by its own chat pin, so the case passes and no longer needs the skip * fix(bedrock_mantle): keep web search and reasoning summaries on the Responses API under a chat pin A chat-pinned Mantle GPT-5 deployment now sends web_search_options and a dict reasoning_effort carrying a summary to the Responses API, which serves them. Mantle Chat Completions drops n above 1 and a reasoning summary under drop_params and answers 400 without it. The /v1/messages adapter probes the bridge with only the client's own summary, so an auto-injected one never moves the request * fix(bedrock_mantle): check n and reasoning summaries only on the Chat Completions request * fix(router): keep a non-string deployment mode off the shared routing row A deployment whose model_info.mode was an int, a list, or an object still reached the shared cost-map row, so an unpinned sibling on the same backend stopped routing to the Responses API. The shared registration now drops a mode that is not a string, and the deployment keeps its own raw value. Adds integration cells for per-deployment routing across the OpenAI and Anthropic SDKs, raw httpx, wildcard routes, malformed modes, an upstream outage, config changes under traffic, and a worker kill plus restart. * test(integration): find each routing cell's spend row by the response it logged A bridged call logs its row under the wrapped Responses id, which the caller never sees on a streamed Messages answer, so look the row up by the answer's own ids and the upstream ids for its marker. Int and list modes 500 their own model group on main too, so those cells check only the sibling, and the summary cell sends the auto level Mantle's Responses path accepts * fix(bedrock_mantle): run extra_body fields through the chat checks A chat-pinned Mantle request that nests n or reasoning_effort in extra_body now gets the same 400, drop, and effort-level handling as the top-level fields. The bridge test injects a MockTransport client instead of patching HTTPHandler.post. * test(router): cover nested reasoning_effort routing, messages thinking summaries and per-target auto summary levels * fix(router): probe a pinned deployment's own API on /health and keep a requested summary beside an extra_body effort * fix(router): keep a custom-priced deployment's mode pin off the shared backend row on each request * fix(router): run per-request custom pricing through the shared mode guard so a health probe keeps the row's mode * fix(router): drop the debug log that wrote a request's model name from keep_registered_mode * test(router): cover custom-priced chat pins, their health probes and summary aliases beside an extra_body effort * fix(proxy): pass only the mode pin to a /health probe so a failing probe never cools its deployment down * test(router): cover failing health probes leaving their deployment out of cooldown, with and without background checks * test(router): kill the worker that holds burst calls, so the worker kill cell never depends on how the kernel spread them * fix(router): route a fine-tune the same whichever deployment registers first Main's register_model now seeds an unmapped fine-tune's row from its base model's built-in row, mode included, on the first registration. The mode guard read only the live row, so a responses pin marked the shared row only when it registered before its siblings. The guard now reads the row the registration merges onto, the live row or else the row it would seed. --------- Co-authored-by: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(streaming): report the deployment's api_base when a stream fails mid-way (#47045)
* fix(streaming): report the deployment's api_base when a stream fails mid-way * fix(responses): report the deployment's api_base when a native responses stream fails mid-way * fix(streaming): name the deployment's configured api_base in mid-stream errors and keep prompt text out Mid-stream errors on chat and native /v1/responses streams now prefer the router's configured api_base over the logged request URL, websocket turns keep the connection's api_base, and the mid-stream mapping no longer adds the prompt to the debug info. * fix(streaming): keep api_base credentials out of error debug info and leave websocket turn logging unchanged * fix(streaming): name the websocket connection's api_base on turn failures and strip scheme-less userinfo * fix(streaming): strip api_base userinfo before cutting the query so a raw ? or # in a password stays out Adds the audit's integration tests for the mid-stream alert API Base line and the SDK debug info. * fix(streaming): leave the API Base line out when an @ follows the host A raw / ? or # in a password and an @ in a query or path read the same in a malformed api_base, so either guess could show a secret or a wrong host. * fix(streaming): keep the API Base line when an @ sits in a provider path Vertex partner model ids like claude-opus-5-5@default put an @ in the URL path, so the fail-closed rule left out the line main printed. The line is now left out only when the text before the first / ? or # is not a host, and a :// counts as the scheme only after a valid scheme name. * test(streaming): cover a numeric password with a slash in the API Base line The audit found that a password like 1234/function-secret, which looks like a port, had no case. The line is left out on this branch and printed the raw secret on main |

fix(responses): log and bill every round of non-stream MCP auto-execute (#43667)
* fix(responses): log and bill every round of non-stream MCP auto-execute Both model rounds run as internal sub-calls on the request's logging object, and the outer call logs the response the client received with usage, cost, and cost breakdown summed across the rounds. The internal-call gate now also covers the sync success callbacks, so an inner round no longer takes their first-wins slot * fix(caching): let the parent call log and bill an internal sub-call's cache hit A round of non-stream MCP auto-execute that the response cache served fired the cache-hit callbacks on the shared logging object, so the spend log kept round 1's function_call row and dropped the billed row for the answer. Internal sub-call cache hits now fire no callbacks and carry a zero cost, and the summed cost breakdown leaves out rounds served from the cache * fix(logging): keep a parent row unique when its response came from the response cache A RAG query or an MCP turn whose final round is served from the cache hands back the cached response's id, which already belongs to the row that cached it, so SpendLogs dropped the new row as a duplicate. Such a row now gets the cache-hit id suffix, and it is logged as a cache hit when it cost nothing. * fix(logging): skip the zero-cost warning for a response served from the cache at no charge A non-stream MCP auto-execute request whose rounds the response cache served is priced at $0 before the parent marks it a cache hit, so it logged a false 'priced at $0' warning and counted in litellm_zero_cost_requests_total. The diagnostic now treats a response the cache served at no charge the same as a marked cache hit * fix(responses): bill the paid first MCP round when a later step of the request fails * fix(responses): log each MCP tool call under its own id so a failed follow-up keeps its spend row The non-stream auto-execute path passed the request's call id to the tool call, so the tool's spend row and the request's failure row shared one request_id and the failure row was dropped on insert, leaving the paid first round unbilled. * fix(responses): bill round 1 on a client disconnect, keep MCP tool rows in the request's session, and charge a fixed margin once per request * fix(responses): keep bridged MCP auto-execute in one session and trace and continue its conversation The bridged follow-up no longer chains on round 1, so a thinking model keeps its reasoning and the request stays in one session. The tool call log continues the request trace without renaming it, the tools are fetched once, and a later turn finds the MCP turn under the id the client got, skipping the tool rows. * fix(responses): log the non-stream MCP tool listing in the request's session and trace * fix(responses): find a bridged MCP turn by the id the client holds and log its listing in the bridged trace * fix(responses): derive the MCP tool row id from the request's call id The tool call's spend row now uses <call id>_<tool call id>, so it stays linked to the request without colliding with the request's failure row. Also tighten the internal cache-hit test to a fixed clock and typed params. * fix(responses): bill a retried MCP attempt for its own rounds A router retry or fallback reuses the request's logging object, so a failed attempt's stashed round 1 usage made the next attempt's success row log stale tokens. Each non-stream MCP attempt now starts without that stash. * fix(responses): bill every failed MCP attempt's paid first round on the request failure A retry or fallback now sets a failed attempt's stashed round 1 aside instead of dropping it, and the proxy's failure row adds it to the last attempt's own, so a request whose later attempt fails on its first call still bills the round the provider charged. A cached final round also keeps the paid first round's cost breakdown. * fix(responses): keep MCP tool catalog and results out of the bridged next-turn replay * fix(responses): keep MCP tool spend, client body keys, and Langfuse traces working on auto-execute Count the MCP tools an auto-executed Responses API call ran in the tool spend rollup, accept a client body key named previous_response_client_ids without a 500, and point MCP listing and tool spans at the trace Langfuse gives the parent request, including x-litellm-session-id requests * fix(responses): join MCP spans to the Langfuse trace when the request sends body metadata * test(integration): cover non-stream MCP auto-execute billing, failure rows, and bridged follow-ups --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(bedrock)!: keep reasoning, thinking blocks and the json_mode finish_reason on fake streams (#46863)
* fix(bedrock): keep reasoning, thinking blocks and the json_mode finish_reason on fake streams A Bedrock Converse model without native structured output fakes the stream when response_format carries a json_schema. The fake stream transformed the response without json_mode and rebuilt a chunk from text, tool_use and token counts only, so it dropped reasoning_content, the signed thinking_blocks and the reasoning token count, and ended on finish_reason tool_calls. The three fake-stream sites now pass json_mode to _transform_response and stream the resulting ModelResponse through the shared convert_model_response_to_streaming converter, which now numbers each streamed thinking block with its index the way real streams do * fix(bedrock): parse text tool calls on Converse fake streams like the non-stream answer * fix(responses): stream the answer text when one chat chunk carries reasoning and the answer * fix(streaming): keep every field on the OpenAI and openai_like fake streams and split multi-block thinking Azure o-series and openai_like fake streams now use the shared MockResponseIterator, so extra tool calls, reasoning and cached and reasoning tokens survive; the Bedrock-local iterator is deleted. The /v1/responses bridge also splits a chunk whose thinking block is signed or redacted with no reasoning text, and the sync iterator closes the reasoning item before the answer opens, like the async one. The /v1/messages bridge gives each thinking block in a chunk its own content block, starts a new block when the thinking block index changes, and streams redacted thinking as redacted_thinking. Snowflake replays drop the stream index from thinking blocks. * fix(anthropic): stream each thinking block's text once on /v1/messages An unsigned thinking chunk now opens its content block with empty text, since its thinking_delta carries the text. A multi-block chunk keeps each piece's thinking block, so an unsigned block followed by a signed one keeps its own text and index. * docs(anthropic): describe which thinking block start carries its text * fix(streaming): close merged reasoning before the answer when one chunk carries both * test(streaming): cover fake-stream reasoning across the proxy bridges and type the Snowflake replay test |

fix(proxy)!: honor caller litellm_session_id in spend log session_id (#44199)
* fix(responses): scope session history lookup to the referenced key * Implement SQLite-backed DB for session tests Added a SQLite-backed database class for testing and a new test to ensure session isolation between different API keys. * fix(proxy): honor caller litellm_session_id in spend log session_id Updated docstring to clarify session ID resolution logic for spend log rows. * test(proxy): caller litellm_session_id wins over the trace id * style(proxy): fix blank lines around new tests * fix(proxy): read the caller session from the logging payload for spend logs * fix(responses): match user and team too when replaying session history * fix(proxy): keep bridged Responses chains whole and scope session history by owner * fix(proxy): keep a metadata session next to a trace header and let session headers win * fix(proxy): send the trace-header session only to spend logs and let session headers win beside a trace header * fix(proxy): drop a client-sent caller session and keep it out of requester metadata * fix(proxy): keep the trace id as the spend log session when the caller session contains a NUL byte * fix(responses): keep a continued bridged chain's session under request_correlation_in_logs With the flag on, the caller session outranked the chain session the bridge sets for a continued Responses chain, so a chain whose session changed or first appeared on a later turn split. The continuation now logs under the chain's session and drops the turn's caller session key, as on main. Adds the /audit integration cells for the spend log caller session. * fix(responses): log a continued bridged chain under its session through the spend-log key only The previous commit set the chain session as the turn's litellm_session_id, which also moved the OTel conversation id of a continued turn away from its trace header. The bridge now writes the chain session into the internal spend-log session key of the metadata the spend log reads, so only the spend log session changes, as on main. Adds an OTel cell for a continued chain. * test(spend): cover bridged chains that share one caller session * test(spend): cover the caller session on configured pass-through routes * test(spend): type the SQLite fake and split stacked comprehensions in the caller session tests --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(gemini): allow disabling thought summaries while keeping thinking on (#36460)
* feat(gemini): allow disabling thought summaries while keeping thinking on Both reasoning-effort mappers hardcoded includeThoughts to True whenever thinking was on, so thinking ON with summaries OFF was unreachable even though that is the google SDK's own default. Summaries are the narration rather than the reasoning, and for callers that discard them they are pure added latency. Adds litellm.gemini_include_thoughts_default, defaulting to True so nothing changes for anyone who does not set it. It gates the includeThoughts=True branches in the thinkingBudget mapper, the thinkingLevel mapper, and the anthropic-style thinking param mapper. The disable and none paths still force includeThoughts=False: with thinking off there is nothing to summarise. * test(gemini): assert thought-summary flag through the outbound Gemini request * feat(gemini): let a request's thought summary ask override the gateway default thinking.display (summarized, updates, omitted) and a reasoning_effort object carrying summary now decide includeThoughts for that request; gemini_include_thoughts_default applies only when the request says nothing * feat(gemini): let a thought summary ask on /v1/messages and /v1/responses override the gateway default * fix(gemini): read a text gateway default as a boolean and leave display omitted to the flag Normalize gemini_include_thoughts_default through normalize_drop_params so a YAML or env value written as "false" or "0" turns thought text off and a null or unknown value keeps the default on. thinking.display "omitted" no longer counts as a per-request ask, so the gateway flag decides, matching /v1/messages. Adds proxy integration cells for chat, /v1/messages and /v1/responses that prove the flag, every per-request ask, streaming, and a burst across workers. * test(gemini): match the streamed Responses usage, which omits null token details * feat(gemini): read the AI SDK reasoning summary alias and thinking.summary as chat asks * fix(gemini): keep the logged reasoning_effort unchanged and key the response cache on the summary alias A dict reasoning_effort next to the AI SDK reasoning_summary alias now counts as a summary ask, and the alias is part of the cache key so a plain request and an alias ask never share a reply * fix(caching): key the response cache on the summary alias wherever the request carries it The cache key now reads reasoning_summary and reasoningSummary through the same reader as the summary fold, so an alias inside extra_body gets its own key too * test: type the new summary-ask unit tests and mark their locals Final * test: annotate the remaining summary-ask unit tests the PR touches --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(responses): preserve provider request IDs in streaming failure logs (#45453)
* fix(responses): preserve provider request IDs in streaming failure logs * fix(bedrock): log the provider request id for in-stream errors on bridged Bedrock streams Bedrock models that run through the chat-completions bridge (Claude, converse, invoke) raise in-stream failures from the event-stream decoder as a BedrockError without headers, so their failure logs kept error_provider_request_id null. The decoder now passes the stream's request-id headers to those errors. Both the native Responses iterator and the decoder pass only the PROVIDER_REQUEST_ID_HEADERS subset, so error responses and failure logs pick up the request id and none of the 200 response's other headers. MidStreamFallbackError gets its response at construction instead of mutating it afterwards. --------- Co-authored-by: moyai-devin-berriai[bot] <336287033+moyai-devin-berriai[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: yucheng-berri <293926326+yucheng-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(responses): write one spend-log row per native WebSocket turn (#46768)
* fix(responses): write one spend-log row per native WebSocket turn Each response.create turn on a native Responses WebSocket connection logs and bills as its own call when its terminal event arrives, keyed by the resp_ id the client saw, instead of one row at socket close that sums every turn * test(responses): mock the websocket slot release and mark the per-turn start time naive * style(responses): keep the per-turn start time line within ruff format * refactor(responses): type websocket turn events as read-only mappings * fix(responses): settle the websocket budget reservation on the first turn only Every per-turn logging copy carried the connection's admission reservation, so two turns whose cost callbacks overlapped could both reconcile it. The first turn keeps the reservation and later turns charge their cost directly * fix(proxy): keep the legacy limiter's websocket slot until disconnect A websocket turn callback no longer decrements current_requests in the legacy limiter. The socket's slot is released once from arelease_max_parallel_requests_on_disconnect, which now dispatches to the legacy handler as well --------- Co-authored-by: devin-ai-integration[bot] <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(responses): preserve explicit websocket API keys (internal copy of #40853) (#46724)
* fix(responses): preserve explicit websocket API keys Refresh the one-line fix from BerriAI/litellm#34253 against the current default branch Co-authored-by: puffer <389053104@qq.com> * test(responses): verify websocket authorization Cover explicit deployment keys, precedence over global keys, and the existing global fallback at the upstream WebSocket transport boundary * test(responses): type the authorization capture Replace the mutable header list with a typed, final Future carrying the upstream authorization value, addressing the review on #40853 * Refactor test_openai_websocket_authorization method * fix(responses): resolve websocket keys with the deployment's provider Pass the deployment custom_llm_provider to get_llm_provider so an api_base host never swaps in another provider's env key, and drop the OpenAI-only global key fallbacks so non-OpenAI websocket deployments resolve their own env keys the way the HTTP route does * fix(responses): let a deployment's own websocket key beat env keys A deployment with an api_base on a host litellm recognizes, and no declared provider, got that host's env key ahead of its own api_key. The explicit key now always wins, matching the HTTP Responses route. Drop the litellm_params api_key fallback, which could never be set because api_key is a named argument * fix(responses): keep openai deployments on other providers' known hosts on the HTTP stream An openai deployment whose api_base is a known OpenAI-compatible provider host (DeepSeek, Groq, ...) opened a native Responses WebSocket there and got a 405, because those hosts serve /responses over HTTP only. Route it through the managed HTTP stream with the deployment's own key instead. * fix(responses): resolve openai deployments on known provider hosts as that provider An openai deployment whose api_base is a known provider host (DeepSeek, Mistral, ...) now resolves to that host's provider on the Responses WebSocket again, as before this branch, so it keeps that provider's chat completions bridge, pricing and env key fallback. Its own api_key still wins over the env key. The known-host test now mocks the upstream HTTP route and checks the route, the bearer and response.completed. * test(responses): prove websocket deployment keys and declared providers reach the provider socket * test(responses): use the reported bare model shape for the websocket deployment key cell --------- Co-authored-by: Ysh <734645956@qq.com> Co-authored-by: puffer <389053104@qq.com> |

fix(responses): open faked stream items empty so tool arguments and text arrive once (#46533)
* fix(responses): open faked stream items empty so tool arguments and text arrive once * fix(responses): open faked stream items in progress with a fresh empty list, and open mid-stream guardrail blocks empty * fix(responses): open faked refusals, reasoning summaries, custom tool calls and MCP calls empty so each value arrives once * test(integration): cover the empty-open Responses stream items on every fake, replay and block path Integration cells for the faked /v1/responses stream, the chat and messages bridges, cache replay, guardrail block events and the MCP gateway call. Each opened item starts empty and each value arrives once, checked with raw httpx, the OpenAI SDK and the Anthropic SDK, plus upstream errors, 5 KB values, a client drop, a dropped upstream connection and a worker SIGKILL |

fix(responses): translate OpenAI tool_search to Anthropic tool search for Claude models (#45882)
* fix(responses): translate OpenAI tool_search to Anthropic tool search for Claude models * fix(responses): define the tool_search_call output item locally for older openai SDKs * fix(responses): gate tool search on the Anthropic request builder and validate deferred tool fields Bedrock Converse builds its own request and has no tool search, so the bridge now drops the tool_search tool there with a warning instead of sending a tool the transport loses, while Bedrock invoke, Anthropic, and Vertex keep it. A replayed tool_search_call with no stored result is dropped from the Anthropic request so a previous_response_id follow-up no longer answers 400. Only srvtoolu_ ids whose name is one of Anthropic's search tools count as search calls, so a caller function named like one stays a function call. A non-boolean defer_loading or a non-list allowed_callers now answers 400 instead of 500 * fix(responses): keep an answered search call on replay and send tools undeferred when no search tool goes out A replayed Claude tool search call that the caller answered with a tool message kept its tool_result in the user turn while its tool_use was dropped from the assistant turn, so Anthropic answered 400 on the OpenAI-SDK tool loop. The search call is now dropped only when no tool message answers it. The Responses bridge now strips defer_loading from every tool whenever no tool search tool is sent, whether the caller sent none or the route cannot run it, since a deferred tool with no search tool can never be loaded. Namespace members had started carrying the flag to every bridge provider, which providers that reject unknown tool keys answered 422. The audit round-1 integration cells for the bridge wire and chaos paths ride in this commit. * fix(responses): gate only the OpenAI tool_search shape and keep native Anthropic search tools intact A native tool_search_tool_regex_20251119 or tool_search_tool_bm25_20251119 tool the caller sends through /v1/responses passes through the bridge on every route as before, and the other tools keep defer_loading whenever any Anthropic search tool goes out. The route gate now drops the OpenAI tool_search item before translation instead of filtering the translated regex tool, so bm25 counts as a search tool. answered_tool_call_ids walks the history with islice instead of a slice copy. The tool_search_call output item drops its created_by field, which OpenAI rejects on a replayed input item and the streaming item never carried * fix(responses): drop malformed tool flags under drop_params and keep stored search calls off non-Anthropic follow-ups With drop_params on, a non-boolean defer_loading or a non-list allowed_callers on a Responses API tool (or a namespace member) is dropped before the bridge instead of answering 400, so only a request without drop_params gets the 400. A custom tool now carries defer_loading to the chat tool like a function tool does A previous_response_id follow-up routed to a provider that does not build an Anthropic request no longer replays the stored Claude search call (srvtoolu_ id) as a client tool call. Mistral answered that history 400 "Unexpected tool call id". An assistant turn that held only the search call is dropped there. The Anthropic route keeps the call, since its factory pairs it with the stored result The tool_search_call output model is renamed OutputToolSearchCall so the proxy's OpenAPI schema keeps the OpenAI SDK's ResponseToolSearchCall name. answered_tool_call_ids reads the history by index, so the lookup is linear in the history length. The streaming done event reads the response it is given, which is the same object it used to read from the iterator * fix(responses): validate function allowed_callers, send one search tool, and keep replays clean off Anthropic A function tool whose allowed_callers is not a list of strings now answers 400 instead of 500. The guardrail scan reads tools without malformed flags, so the route decides between a 400 and a drop under drop_params. When the caller sends a native Anthropic search tool beside tool_search, only the native one goes out. Databricks Claude no longer counts as an Anthropic request route. A previous_response_id follow-up off Anthropic also drops a search call the client replayed as a function_call with a srvtoolu_ id, and its output. The answered tool id scan in the Anthropic message factory runs once per assistant run instead of once per message. A null created_by on tool_search_call and tool_search_output output items is left out of the serialized response, so a cache hit returns the same keys as the first call. * fix(guardrails): keep OpenAI tool_search out of the Responses guardrail tool scan The scan translated tool_search into Anthropic's regex search tool on every route, so a guardrail returning only function tools removed tool_search from native OpenAI requests and OpenAI answered 400 for the deferred tools * fix(anthropic): drop answered tool search replays beside client calls, place system before dropped search turns, flag tool search on azure_ai * fix(anthropic): keep answered tool search replays paired with their answers * fix(anthropic): place mid-conversation system messages in one pass and scan tool_search_call in output guardrails * fix(guardrails): send empty incomplete tool_search_call arguments when a rewrite is not a JSON object * fix(responses): keep the caller's defer_loading on Claude routes when no server tool_search is sent * fix(guardrails): deliver streamed rewrites when OpenAI's tool_search_call has no call_id * fix(responses): answer 400 to a tool_search execution that is not server or client OpenAI's own Responses API answers 400 invalid_value to it. With drop_params the malformed execution is dropped like the other malformed tool flags, which leaves a server search * test(responses): cover the 400 and drop_params paths for a malformed tool_search execution * test(responses): cover a Claude search call replayed to Bedrock Converse with cache marks --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: mateo <mateo@berri.ai> Co-authored-by: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(responses): keep the provider code and message on top-level stream error events (#46438)
* fix(responses): keep the provider code and message on top-level stream error events Co-Authored-By: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(responses): log a mid-stream failure before the router falls back CustomStreamWrapper now waits for failure logging before it raises the error the router falls back on, so the cooldown lands on the deployment that failed instead of the fallback that replaced it. Also keeps numeric error codes and the top-level message on the WebSocket and ChatGPT paths. * fix(streaming): run sync failure callbacks before a failed stream falls back to another deployment The router cools a deployment down from a sync failure callback that reads the request's model_info. A failed stream submitted that callback to the logging executor without waiting, so it often ran after the router's fallback had overwritten model_info and cooled down the healthy fallback deployment instead, leaving the model group with no deployments * test(responses): cover top-level OpenAI stream error events end to end * test(streaming): read live worker pids so the second SIGKILL chaos variant sees two workers * fix(streaming): run waited sync failure logging off the shared logging pool * revert(streaming): keep failed-stream failure logging in the background Waiting for sync failure callbacks before a failed stream raises fixed the router cooldown race, but it slowed healthy calls under many failing streams with a slow callback, since the wait shares a thread pool with every call's start. The race is pre-existing on main and is tracked separately, so this PR goes back to main's logging timing and keeps only the top-level error event changes --------- Co-authored-by: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(responses): propagate cache_control through responses->chat completion bridge (#32511)
* fix(responses): propagate cache_control through responses->chat completion bridge User/assistant messages, tool call outputs, and function calls built from Responses API input items were dropping cache_control, breaking prompt caching for Bedrock/Anthropic when routed through the litellm_completion transform. Also propagate cache_control onto the last content element of user/assistant messages, since Anthropic/Bedrock read it from the content block rather than (or in addition to) the message level. Adds the missing cache_control field to ChatCompletionToolMessage and ChatCompletionResponseMessage TypedDicts to keep the assignments type-safe. * chore(ui): regenerate schema.d.ts for ChatCompletionToolMessage.cache_control Adding cache_control to the ChatCompletionToolMessage TypedDict changed the proxy's OpenAPI spec; regenerated via `npm run gen:api`. * fix(responses): don't overwrite existing content-block cache_control; add list-content test Per Greptile review on the PR: - The message-level cache_control was unconditionally overwriting the last content block's cache_control when that block already carried its own (preserved by _transform_responses_api_content_to_chat_completion_content). Now only propagates onto the last block when it doesn't already have one. - Added the missing test coverage for the content-block propagation path with list content, which no existing test exercised (all used plain string content, so the isinstance(content, list) branch was never hit). * style(responses): extract cache_control into a named variable, trim comment Per style review: the message-building branch read cache_control 3 different ways in 5 lines (.get() twice, then [] indexing once), unlike the sibling tool-call-output/function-call functions this PR touches, which each extract it into a named variable up front (output_cache_control, function_call_cache_control). Matched that convention here too. Also trimmed the 3-line inline comment to one line, matching the file's usual comment length for similarly subtle behavior. * chore: refresh lazy OpenAPI snapshot * fix: type cache control propagation * fix: place cache control type suppressions * style: format cache control type conversion * refactor(responses): build bridged cache_control messages in one shot * fix(responses): keep cache_control marks on bridged tool calls and within the provider cap A function_call item's mark now rides on the tool call the bridge builds, an assistant text item merged behind a function_call keeps its own mark, a developer item keeps its mark when it is mapped to a system message, and a previous_response_id replay yields its stale marks to the newest ones so the provider cap holds. The Responses layer counts the marks on function_call and function_call_output items before it places an ordinal injection point, and the chat pass replaces that count with its own instead of adding to it. * fix(responses): count each cache_control mark once and keep the bridge within the provider's limits List content carries an item-level cache_control on its last block only, so the provider sees one cache point and the breakpoint census counts one. Marked function tools and SDK-typed input items are handled by the Responses-layer reserve, assistant text merged into a function call turn keeps its mark on its own block, and the previous_response_id replay budget drops marks per turn, newest kept, instead of stripping every older turn once one overshoots. The request's own marks now fall under the same budget, newest kept, so five marked items no longer answer the provider's 400. A cache_control value that is not an ephemeral mark with an optional ttl is left off the bridged message instead of reaching the provider as sent, and a developer message maps to the system role with its content, name, and cache_control only, so unknown keys never reach a strict provider. * fix(responses): send item cache_control only to cache-point targets and follow drop_params Item marks reach the provider only when the target turns them into cache points, and every other target keeps main's behavior of stripping them. Without drop_params a mark the provider would refuse reaches it as sent, so the client gets the same 400 as on /v1/chat/completions. With drop_params a malformed mark is dropped and only the newest 4 are kept. The shared input-to-messages helper and the developer mapping in base_utils go back to main, and a marked developer item reaches a cache-point target as a system message in the bridge. * fix(responses): budget top-level marks, follow drop_params on Nova tool marks, and match chat-keeping providers * fix(responses): validate replayed marks and count input tokens without item marks * fix(responses): leave unknown Bedrock ARNs unmarked under drop_params, match OpenRouter's list, and reserve only forwarded marks * test(responses): cover item cache_control parity per chat route, drop_params trimming, and replay budgets * fix(responses): keep item marks off inspection paths and match each chat route's keep rule Only the request the bridge sends gets item marks now. Guardrails, token counting, rate limiting, and input_tokens read the input with no item marks, as on main, so an off-spec mark cannot fail a guardrail call. Tool message and tool call marks are typed inside the bridge, leaving the shared chat types and guardrail schemas as on main. Databricks keeps marks only for Claude, Snowflake uses its chat route's Claude check, and every Anthropic deployment keeps them whatever its model name. The injection census skips SDK-typed tools, and the owned-proxy test expects the marked messages on /v1/responses. * test(responses): cover guardrail reads without item marks, Snowflake name parity, and SDK-typed tools in the census * fix(responses): leave a non-list input untouched when stripping item marks * test(responses): cover string, list, object and tuple input with and without item marks kept Each input shape now answers the same whether the unmapped Bedrock ARN keeps item marks or strips them under drop_params, through the proxy and the SDK. Object input also runs through the OpenAI-compatible chat bridge, /v1/responses/input_tokens and the project input-token limiter * test(cache): derive owned-proxy cell timeouts from the harness boot budget The capped-burst cells and the uncapped response-cache cells boot their own two-worker proxy, and a fixed 240 or 360 second timeout cut them during boot on a slow runner before the harness readiness budget could decide. They now carry the same derived budget as the sibling chaos and guardrail files, with four boot and stop budgets for the restart cell that boots twice --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |

test(unit): wait on the work itself instead of fixed sleeps (#46261)
* test(unit): wait on the work itself instead of fixed sleeps in 21 flaky files Replace sleeps that raced background logging, cache writes, refreshes and thread work with either awaiting that work directly (logging worker flush, the batch logger's flush_queue, the tasks the call spawned, thread joins) or an Event the test's own fake sets when it runs. Each wait keeps a 5s hang guard that never decides pass or fail. Tests that need a fake clock, real sockets, or measure latency are left unchanged, and no production code moves * test(unit): await the tasks each completion spawns instead of yielding once The logging tests yielded once with asyncio.sleep(0) so the task that enqueues the success log could run before the worker flush. That relied on the enqueue happening before the task's first await. Snapshot the running tasks around each acompletion call and await the ones it spawned, so the guarantee holds however many steps sit before the enqueue |

refactor(python-bridge): ship a signature base and read the resolved call (#45450)
* refactor(python-bridge): ship a signature base and read the resolved call NativeCall carries base (positionals by name plus signature defaults) instead of the fully bound dict. resolved lays kwargs over base, which is what bound held, so every pre-hook read and every route host keeps seeing the same values. test: make 77 legacy live tests offline in litellm_utils, router_unit and responses dirs (#45298)
* test: make 77 legacy live tests offline in litellm_utils, router_unit and responses dirs * test: restore lost coverage in litellm_utils offline replacements Bound live health-check tasks to the concurrency limit so eager task creation behind a semaphore fails, route the Langfuse trace-id check through completion -> Logging.get_trace_id with all four metadata combinations, run the callback dedup checks through acompletion, pass the dynamic key via litellm_params, cover the env-inferred default model list, and add the per-provider audio transcription config lookup * test: restore router coverage lost in the offline move Add the missing non-stream LIT-3058 header/count-once test, pin the UTC minute on every usage-counter test, assert router-level client reuse for transcription, and replace the private selector-attribute checks with routing outcomes per strategy. Assert outbound bodies for speech, rerank, image, assistants and moderation, add timeouts to event waits, and drop the router_unit_tests husk files that no longer hold tests * test: restore sync stream, router sync stream, error event and field-type coverage for migrated responses tests Add the sync streaming logging and sync Router.responses streaming cases the offline replacements dropped, port the legacy per-event and response field-type validation, assert raw headers, the float created_at conversion, MCP tool headers, the search_context_size input, and add an offline replacement for the in-stream context-window error event. Remove helpers left dead in the legacy file. * test: run numpydoc-backed unit tests in GHA and drop a test that pinned a crash * test: restore sequence number, item id and content part checks in the responses stream validator * test: match router logging events to the test's own deployment so late events from other tests are ignored * test: restore the s3 cold storage history test to its original assertions --------- Co-authored-by: yuneng <yuneng@berri.ai> |

fix(bedrock_mantle): send OpenAI explicit prompt cache breakpoints for GPT-5.6 and newer (#38729)
* fix(cache_control): let a hosted deployment opt into the OpenAI cache dialect _targets_openai_prompt_cache_breakpoint gated on custom_llm_provider == "openai" unconditionally, so an OpenAI-shaped model served by another provider could never qualify, even with supports_prompt_cache_breakpoint set explicitly on its own cost-map entry. bedrock_mantle honours prompt_cache_breakpoint end to end, and had no way to say so. model_cost is keyed per exact deployment string, so a flag on the deployment's own entry states the dialect more precisely than a provider name can. Consult it before the provider check, and require the entry's litellm_provider to match the serving provider so an openai entry cannot license another provider. Entries for the openai provider keep their api_base check, so an OpenAI-compatible third-party host is still not assumed to speak the dialect. Fixes #38666 * test: drop a laziness assertion the existing suite already makes test_provider_lookup_skipped_for_models_below_gpt_5_6 already pins that _resolve_provider is not called for an unflagged model, and it covers the new flag lookup unchanged. The duplicate patched a litellm internal for no added coverage, which the test-quality gate counts against TQ008. * fix(bedrock_mantle): flag GPT-5.6 and newer rows for OpenAI explicit prompt cache breakpoints * fix(responses): predict the chat-completions bridge with the model name the dispatch resolves * fix(cache_control): read a region-prefixed Mantle GPT deployment through its region-free price-map row * fix(cache_control): let a bare hosted deployment name read its own provider's price-map row * fix(responses): hand the hook the provider the router resolved for a Foundry GPT deployment * fix(cache_control): read the deployment breakpoint flag strictly and default a null prompt_cache_options A cost-map or deployment `supports_prompt_cache_breakpoint` that is not the boolean `true` (the string "true", the integer 1, "false", 0, a long string) no longer opts a deployment into the OpenAI prompt cache dialect; only `true` does, the same reading Bedrock Converse applies to its own flag. A client that sends `"prompt_cache_options": null` on `/v1/chat/completions` or `/v1/messages` now gets the implicit default the hook already applied on `/v1/responses` when it placed a breakpoint; before, the null suppressed the default and the request left with a breakpoint and no options. * test(integration): audit cells for the Mantle GPT prompt cache breakpoint dialect Deterministic cells for the configured-breakpoint path on Bedrock Mantle GPT and Azure AI Foundry GPT-6 deployments: every endpoint, streaming and not, sync and async SDKs and raw httpx, the hostile option shapes, flag precedence, the response cache twin, a two-worker burst, a worker kill and a graceful restart. * fix(cache_control): ignore a malformed cache_control_injection_points value instead of failing the request A deployment or client `cache_control_injection_points` that is not a list of points (a string, an integer, a bare point dict, a list of strings) raised inside the prompt hook (`'str' object has no attribute 'get'`, `'int' object is not iterable`) and turned every request to that deployment into a 500 on `/v1/chat/completions`, `/v1/messages` and `/v1/responses`. Every entry point now reads such a value as no configured points, the way a `null` already read, and the request leaves without a breakpoint; entries of a list that are not points are dropped and the point entries kept. * test(integration): cover int, dict and string-list injection point shapes in the Mantle audit cells The D9 cell now also sends an integer, a bare point dict and a list of strings as the deployment's `cache_control_injection_points`, which the merge base answered with a 500 on every request. * fix(cache_control): stamp the OpenAI dialect for a bare deployment name served by a flagged provider A deployment written as `model: openai.gpt-5.6-sol` with `custom_llm_provider: bedrock_mantle` has no cost-map row of its own and no openai row of the same name, so the dialect stamp's cheap gate (`supports_openai_prompt_cache_breakpoint`) returned early and the configured point was never stamped. On `/v1/responses` and on the chat seeding path the hook sees no provider, so it fell back to the Anthropic `cache_control` marker, which Bedrock Mantle strips. The gate now also passes a model whose serving provider is already known and whose provider-keyed row carries the flag, which is the same row the dialect resolution reads and costs no provider lookup. A bare name without a provider is still left alone, so models below GPT-5.6 keep their points untouched and resolve nothing. * test(integration): cover a bare Mantle deployment name with its provider in the audit cells A deployment configured as `model: openai.gpt-5.6-sol` plus `custom_llm_provider: bedrock_mantle` sends the breakpoint and the implicit options on all three endpoints; the merge base leaves it on the Anthropic dialect. * fix(cache_control): keep a configured point that sits beside junk entries on every chat seed path `configured_injection_points` kept the point dicts of a mixed `cache_control_injection_points` list as a tuple, but only read a `list` back. The chat seed and the `/v1/responses` dialect stamp write the normalized value back onto the request, and on a deployment the OpenAI dialect does not stamp (an Anthropic model, Claude on Bedrock Mantle) that value is the tuple itself, so the hook then read it as no configured points and the valid point was silently dropped. The stamped OpenAI dialect and the `/v1/messages` path kept it only because they build a new list. The normalizer now reads back the tuple it wrote, so the point reaches the wire on every path; an all-dict list still passes through as the same object. * test(integration): cover a configured point beside junk entries on a Claude Mantle deployment A deployment configured with `cache_control_injection_points: ["system", {system point}, 3]` marks the system block on the Anthropic dialect on all three endpoints; the merge base answers 500 on the junk entry. --------- Co-authored-by: mateo-berri <277851410+mateo-berri@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(ollama): one stream id, 400 on non-text tool content, separated tool results, no empty message item (#45177)
* fix(ollama): one stream id, 400 on non-text tool content, separated tool results, no empty message item The ollama/ text stream minted a fresh chatcmpl- id per chunk; every chunk now carries the one id of its response. A tool message with int content raised a TypeError inside ollama_pt and answered 500; it now answers 400 naming the message index and the type it carried. Merged user, tool, and function turns and the text parts of one message were joined with no separator; they are joined with a newline. A streamed tool call with no text rebuilds to content null instead of an empty string, and the Responses bridge no longer opens a message item on a leading empty delta, so a /v1/responses stream on a tool call completes with the function_call alone, as the non-stream call does * fix(ollama): defer the BadRequestError annotation so litellm imports on Python 3.10 to 3.13 * fix(ollama): read the user run lazily, type the prompt helpers, and 400 on a non-string text part * fix(ollama): 400 on a text or image_url part that carries no value * fix(responses): stream bridged output items at contiguous indexes and reject non-object ollama content parts The chat-completions bridge reserved output_index 0 for the message item, so a tool-only stream announced its function_call at index 1 with no item at 0 and the OpenAI SDK's responses.stream() accumulator raised IndexError. Items now take the next index in emission order, reasoning included, and response.completed lists the output in that streamed order. ollama_pt answers 400 for a content part that is not an object and for an image_url object without a url string, instead of a 500 or a silent drop. * fix(responses): list only announced items in the bridged completed snapshot The Responses bridge drops a message item from response.completed when the stream never announced one and its text is empty, so a tool-only stream and a reasoning-only stream end with the items the client saw. The chunk builder's rebuilt content goes back to what main does; aligning it with the non-stream shape is its own change for every provider's consumers * style(responses): sort the itertools import with the other stdlib imports * test(integration): add ollama prompt-tools and responses bridge audit cells |

test: move the unit half of 126 mixed legacy files into tests/unit (#45090)
* test: move the unit half of 126 mixed legacy files into tests/unit * test: restore litellm globals that moved tests set * test: finalize migration test cleanup * test: restore original bodies of moved legacy tests The move into tests/unit had rewritten 612 test bodies, and some of the rewrites dropped assertions. Each moved test now carries its original body from the legacy file, with only the imports, helpers, fake provider credentials and monkeypatched env it needs to run under tests/unit test_timeout_streaming goes back to tests/local_testing because it needs the fake OpenAI endpoint server. The image payload fixture moves with its only user, and two tests that leaked global state (a registered model cost entry and queued logging tasks) are now isolated * test: drop module imports shadowed by restored local imports * test: assert on LiteLLM output in no-assertion moved tests and isolate leaks Twenty no-assertion candidates get one assertion on the value LiteLLM returns, with the original lines unchanged. Four tests go back to their legacy files because they only check types or imports, write into the working directory, or cannot assert without a body change Two moved tests leaked globals into later tests in the same worker, so monkeypatch fixtures now restore the retry-after header parser and the end user cost tracking flags * test: drain queued logging tasks before the Phoenix span test The moved Phoenix test counted spans from logging tasks that earlier tests had queued, so the drain fixture moves to tests/unit/conftest.py and both it and the Datadog batch test use it. test_factory_function goes back to its legacy file because its returned wrapper calls the real Assistants API and cannot be asserted on without a body change --------- Co-authored-by: yuneng <yuneng@berri.ai> |
