* fix(proxy): recognize *.cognitiveservices.azure.com as OpenAI-compatible in pass-through cost tracking (#29730)
* fix(proxy): recognize *.cognitiveservices.azure.com as OpenAI-compatible
Azure OpenAI resources created via the newer "Azure AI Foundry" /
Cognitive Services pathway live on `*.cognitiveservices.azure.com`
subdomains, not the older `openai.azure.com`. Both are valid Azure
OpenAI surfaces in production today.
The OpenAI pass-through cost-tracking handler hard-codes only the older
hostname in five places (four `is_openai_*_route` methods on
OpenAIPassthroughLoggingHandler, plus is_openai_route on
PassThroughEndpointLogging). As a result, calls from newer Azure
deployments are silently classified as "not an OpenAI route", the
dispatch into the cost-tracking handler is skipped, and tokens/cost
never get extracted into LiteLLM_SpendLogs — the row gets written with
prompt_tokens=0, completion_tokens=0, spend=0, model='unknown'.
Reproduced 2026-06-04 against a real Azure OpenAI deployment on
`*.cognitiveservices.azure.com` proxied through LiteLLM v1.88.0.
Fix: factor the hostname check into a single helper
`_is_openai_compatible_host` listing all three recognized surfaces
(api.openai.com, openai.azure.com, cognitiveservices.azure.com), and
have all five call sites delegate to it. Purely additive — never
weakens recognition for the originally-supported hostnames.
Adds a test
`test_is_openai_route_recognizes_cognitiveservices_azure_com` that
exercises all four `is_openai_*_route` static methods against
`*.cognitiveservices.azure.com` URLs (positive cases per route + a
small cross-route negative to confirm route-specific path matching
still works on the new hostname).
Out of scope for this PR (separate followup):
- `openai_passthrough_handler` calls chat/completions
`transform_response` on Responses API payloads (`output:` not
`choices:`), which throws inside the dispatch and drops the
SpendLogs row entirely. Recognized + tracked separately.
* ci: trigger fresh run
Empty commit to re-run checks. The previous auth-and-jwt failure was
a transient HuggingFace Hub 429 rate-limit hitting tokenizer downloads

this PR's scope (hostname recognition in pass-through cost tracking).
No code change.

* fix(responses): preserve forced-function tool_choice name in Responses to Chat transform (#29812)
The Responses API forces a specific function with a top-level name
({"type": "function", "name": "X"}), but _transform_tool_choice only handled the
nested Chat Completions shape and fell through to returning "required" for the flat
form, silently dropping the function name and degrading a forced function call to
force-any-tool. Map the flat Responses shape to the nested Chat shape, keeping the
"required" fallback when no name is present.
* Preserve x-anthropic-billing-header system blocks for first-party Anthropic (#29584)
* Preserve x-anthropic-billing-header system blocks for first-party Anthropic
PR #20951 strips system blocks beginning with "x-anthropic-billing-header:" for
every Anthropic target. That block is how the first-party Anthropic API recognizes
Claude Code subscription (OAuth) traffic, so dropping it makes requests that carry
only that block, such as the auto-mode tool-safety classifier, fail with a
misleading 429 rate_limit_error; normal turns still work because they also carry
the "You are Claude Code" identity block.
Gate the strip behind should_strip_billing_metadata(), defaulting to False on the
first-party AnthropicConfig and AnthropicMessagesConfig so the block is kept, and
overridden to True on the providers that reach these transforms and reject the
block (Bedrock platform, Vertex, Azure for the chat path; Minimax, Azure, DeepSeek
for the messages path). Behavior for those providers is unchanged.
* Strip billing header on Bedrock invoke and Vertex messages pass-through
Two more subclasses reach the gated strip but inherited keep-by-default.
AmazonAnthropicClaudeConfig (Bedrock invoke) calls AnthropicConfig.transform_request,
which calls translate_system_message, and VertexAIPartnerModelsAnthropicMessagesConfig
(Vertex messages pass-through) calls super().transform_anthropic_messages_request.
Override should_strip_billing_metadata() to True on both.
Add a parametrized test asserting the flag for every first-party base (False) and
provider subclass (True), covering all overrides, plus a translate_system_message
regression test for the Bedrock invoke path.

* feat(parasail): add Parasail as a JSON-configured OpenAI-compatible provider (#29842)
* feat(parasail): add Parasail as a JSON-configured OpenAI-compatible provider
Registers parasail in the openai_like JSON provider loader with both
/v1/chat/completions and /v1/responses support. Parasail's Responses API
rejects store:true and any request that omits store, so the loader gains a
force_store_false special_handling flag; the parasail entry sets it and
the generated Responses config overrides store=false on every call. This
keeps callers from hitting "State storage not supported" and matches what
Parasail's docs require.
Adds the PARASAIL enum value, listing under openai_compatible_providers,
provider documentation at docs/my-website/docs/providers/parasail.md, and
a focused unit test file under tests/test_litellm/llms/parasail/ that
covers JSON registration, chat URL construction, Responses URL
construction with PARASAIL_API_BASE override, and the force_store_false
regression in both the caller-sent-store=true and caller-omitted cases.
* fix(parasail): register in provider_endpoints_support, drop in-repo docs
Greptile review feedback. The provider doc belongs in the litellm-docs
repo, not this one's docs/my-website tree; removing it here. Adds the
parasail entry to provider_endpoints_support.json so the
check_provider_folders_documented.py CI check passes (chat_completions
and responses true; others false).

* feat(guardrails): capture user and model metadata in CrowdStrike AIDR (#29517)
* fix(proxy): require OpenAI path segment for shared Azure Cognitive Services domains
Address Greptile review: the `*.cognitiveservices.azure.com` /
`*.openai.azure.com` domains are shared by every Azure Cognitive Service
(Speech, Vision, Language, ...), so a hostname-only substring match
misclassified non-OpenAI Azure traffic as OpenAI routes.
- Replace the substring host test with suffix matching (rejects look-alike
domains like cognitiveservices.azure.com.attacker.example).
- Add `_is_openai_compatible_url` that requires an OpenAI-style path marker
(`/openai/` or `/v1/`) on the shared Azure domains, and use it in
PassThroughEndpointLogging.is_openai_route (previously hostname-only).
- Add negative tests for Azure Speech/Vision paths and look-alike domains.

* fix(caching): replay openai/responses bridge cache hits as chat streams
When chat completions route through openai/responses, cached ModelResponse
payloads under aresponses keys were deserialized as ResponsesAPIResponse

chat-shaped cache entries as acompletion and bypass the responses stream iterator
for cached CustomStreamWrapper replay.

* test(caching): cover responses bridge cache-hit paths in CI-tracked test suite
The new bridge cache replay logic in caching_handler.py and the
preformatted-stream guard in litellm_responses_transformation/handler.py
were exercised only by tests under tests/local_testing/, which the
responses-caching-types and misc shards do not run. Codecov flagged the
patch as 29.72% covered.
Add equivalent unit tests under tests/test_litellm/ so the responses,
caching, types, and misc shards execute them and ship their coverage
data to Codecov:
- _is_chat_completion_cached_dict happy/sad paths
- aresponses streaming bridge cache hit -> CustomStreamWrapper
- responses non-streaming bridge cache hit -> ModelResponse
- legacy ResponsesAPIResponse stream + non-stream replay
- _is_preformatted_cached_chat_stream true/false
- completion/acompletion early return on cached ModelResponse

* test: bump EOL'd NVIDIA rerank and OpenAI realtime models in CI
The NVIDIA hosted rerank endpoint for nvidia/llama-3_2-nv-rerankqa-1b-v2
reached end-of-life on 2026-05-18 and now returns HTTP 410 Gone, breaking
TestNvidiaNim::test_basic_rerank. Switch to nvidia/nv-rerankqa-mistral-4b-v3,
which is still hosted on the NVIDIA API catalog and is already listed in
model_prices_and_context_window.json.
OpenAI also retired the gpt-4o-realtime-preview-2024-12-17 model used by
test_realtime_guardrails_openai (now returns model_not_found). Switch the
realtime test URL to the GA gpt-realtime alias.
Unrelated to the responses-bridge cache fix in this PR, but committing
here to unblock CI per maintainer guidance.

* test(realtime): switch retired gpt-4o-realtime-preview to gpt-realtime
OpenAI removed gpt-4o-realtime-preview and all its date snapshots on
2026-05-18 (every variant now returns model_not_found), breaking the
live-WebSocket OpenAI realtime tests in CI:
- test_openai_realtime_direct_call_no_intent
- test_openai_realtime_direct_call_with_intent
- TestOpenAIRealtime.test_realtime_connection
- TestOpenAIRealtime.test_realtime_with_query_params
Point each of those to the current GA alias gpt-realtime (verified live).
Pure unit/mock tests that just assert the string value (e.g. in
test_realtime_query_params_construction and the
test_realtime_query_params_use_normalized_model_name mock) are left
alone since they do not depend on model availability.
Also relax the AI-response assertion in
test_text_message_blocked_by_guardrail_no_ai_response: gpt-realtime
occasionally produces a polite refusal ("I'm sorry, but I can't say
that") when the cancel arrives after the model has already started
generating, which is the expected outcome (no real AI content) but does
not contain the words 'blocked' or 'guardrail'. The primary guardrail
behaviour (guardrail_violation error event + transcript_delta block
message) is still asserted unchanged.

* test(nvidia_nim): mock rerank live API instead of hitting EOL'd endpoint
NVIDIA reached end-of-life for the hosted nvidia/llama-3.2-nv-rerankqa-1b-v2
rerank API on 2026-05-18 (returns HTTP 410 Gone), and the proposed
replacement nv-rerankqa-mistral-4b-v3 returns HTTP 404 for the CI account,
breaking TestNvidiaNim::test_basic_rerank.
Override test_basic_rerank to mock the HTTP transport (same pattern as
test_nvidia_nim_rerank_ranking_endpoint above) so the request/response
transformation and cost calculation stay covered without depending on
NVIDIA's hosted catalog rotation. The model identifier reverts to the
original llama-3.2-nv-rerankqa-1b-v2 since the request never leaves
the test process.

The flag was an opt-in escape hatch for the cross-tenant leak the rest
of the patch closes — flipping it on (env var or constructor param)
re-enables exactly the VERIA-54 primitive on either backend. There is
no operational need that the secure path doesn't already meet:
- Qdrant: legacy points without ``litellm_cache_key`` payload are
excluded by the must-clause filter and treated as misses; new sets
populate the cache key, so cold-start lasts only as long as the
natural cache rebuild.
- Redis: existing unscoped index can't carry the new schema; the init
path falls back to ``{name}_isolated`` (and recreates it on stale
schema), leaving the legacy index untouched.
Drop the constructor param, env-var fallback, ``_using_legacy_unscoped_index``
flag, the legacy-reuse branch in ``_init_semantic_cache``, and the
matching guards in set/get paths. Update tests to drop the legacy-mode
cases and assert the secure-only behaviour.
* fix(caching): preserve prompt_tokens_details through embedding cache round-trip
The embedding caching layer was dropping prompt_tokens_details (including
image_count) because CachedEmbedding had no field for usage metadata and
the cache retrieval code reconstructed Usage without it. This caused
inconsistent responses where the first call returned image_count but
cached responses did not, breaking cost tracking for multimodal embeddings.
Add prompt_tokens_details to CachedEmbedding, persist per-item details
during cache storage, aggregate them on retrieval, and merge them in
combine_usage() for partial cache hits.
* style: apply Black formatting to caching files
* fix(caching): address Greptile review — cyclic import, guarded construction, nested dict merge
Move PromptTokensDetailsWrapper to inline import to resolve CodeQL cyclic
import warning. Guard PromptTokensDetailsWrapper construction with
try/except to handle unexpected cached keys. Add recursive dict merging
in _merge_prompt_tokens_details for nested fields like
cache_creation_token_details.

* fix PEP 479 regression in __anext__ sync iterator exhaustion
asyncio.to_thread re-raises thread exceptions inside a coroutine, where
PEP 479 converts StopIteration to RuntimeError before any except clause
can catch it. Add _next_sync_or_exhausted() module-level helper that
catches StopIteration in the thread and returns a sentinel instead, then
raise StopAsyncIteration in the coroutine.
Also rewrites the non-blocking test to use asyncio.gather() instead of
asyncio.create_task() (which returned None on Python 3.9 / pytest-asyncio
in CI), and adds an exhaustion regression test that drains the wrapper
fully and asserts no RuntimeError leaks out.

When Redis Cluster is configured via the REDIS_CLUSTER_NODES environment
variable, Cache.__init__() and Router._create_redis_cache() ignored the
env var and always created RedisCache instead of RedisClusterCache. This
caused the v3 rate limiter's cluster detection (_is_redis_cluster()) to
return False, skipping hash-slot key grouping. The resulting CROSSLOT
errors were silently caught, falling back to per-instance in-memory
counting — breaking RPM/TPM enforcement across multiple proxy instances.
Add REDIS_CLUSTER_NODES env var detection to both Cache.__init__() and
Router._create_redis_cache(), matching the existing pattern in
_redis.py:215-220. When the env var is set and no explicit startup_nodes
parameter is provided, parse it and create RedisClusterCache.

* fix: don't close HTTP/SDK clients on LLMClientCache eviction
Removing the _remove_key override that eagerly called aclose()/close()
on evicted clients. Evicted clients may still be held by in-flight
streaming requests; closing them causes:
RuntimeError: Cannot send a request, as the client has been closed.
This is a regression from commit fb72979432. Clients that are no longer
referenced will be garbage-collected naturally. Explicit shutdown cleanup
happens via close_litellm_async_clients().
Fixes production crashes after the 1-hour cache TTL expires.
* test: update LLMClientCache unit tests for no-close-on-eviction behavior
Flip the assertions: evicted clients must NOT be closed. Replace
test_remove_key_closes_async_client → test_remove_key_does_not_close_async_client
and equivalents for sync/eviction paths.
Add test_remove_key_removes_plain_values for non-client cache entries.
Remove test_background_tasks_cleaned_up_after_completion (no more _background_tasks).
Remove test_remove_key_no_event_loop variant that depended on old behavior.
* test: add e2e tests for OpenAI SDK client surviving cache eviction
Add two new e2e tests using real AsyncOpenAI clients:
- test_evicted_openai_sdk_client_stays_usable: verifies size-based eviction
doesn't close the client
- test_ttl_expired_openai_sdk_client_stays_usable: verifies TTL expiry
eviction doesn't close the client
Both tests sleep after eviction so any create_task()-based close would
have time to run, making the regression detectable.
Also expand the module docstring to explain why the sleep is required.
* docs(AGENTS.md): add rule — never close HTTP/SDK clients on cache eviction
* docs(CLAUDE.md): add HTTP client cache safety guideline
DualCache.async_set_cache and async_set_cache_pipeline were missing the
default_in_memory_ttl injection that the sync set_cache method has. This
caused InMemoryCache to fall back to its own default_ttl (600s) instead
of using DualCache's configured default_in_memory_ttl (typically 60s).
This is particularly impactful for end-user budget enforcement in the
proxy, where cached spend values could remain stale for 10 minutes
instead of 1 minute, allowing users to exceed their budgets.
Tests go through the real get_async_httpx_client() code path to verify
clients remain usable after both capacity eviction and TTL expiry.

The mock was unreliable in CI (REDIS_URL is set to the real Redis Cloud server),
causing the pool to silently use the real config instead of the test config.
Using monkeypatch.setenv tests the full env-var→pool chain more robustly and
matches the actual production code path.
Add vector_size parameter to QdrantSemanticCache and expose it through
the Cache facade as qdrant_semantic_cache_vector_size. This allows users
to use embedding models with dimensions other than the default 1536,
enabling cheaper/stronger models like Stella (1024d), bge-en-icl (4096d),
voyage, cohere, etc.
The parameter defaults to QDRANT_VECTOR_SIZE (env var or 1536) for
backward compatibility. When creating new collections, the configured
vector_size is used instead of the hardcoded constant.
Closes#9377
- RC1: Override _remove_key() in LLMClientCache to schedule aclose() on
evicted async clients instead of relying on GC
- RC2: Use passed connection_pool for URL configs instead of creating an
orphaned pool via from_url()
- RC3: Pass max_connections through to BlockingConnectionPool.from_url()
for URL configs, with input validation for invalid values
- RC5: Close sync redis_client in disconnect() with try/except guard
* fix(redis): handle float redis_version from AWS ElastiCache Valkey
AWS ElastiCache Valkey returns redis_version as a float (7.0) instead
of a string ('7.0.0'), causing AttributeError: 'float' object has no
attribute 'split' in async_lpop when parsing version for LPOP count.
Changes:
- Extract version parsing into _parse_redis_major_version() helper
- Add DEFAULT_REDIS_MAJOR_VERSION constant (replaces magic number)
- Support multiple version formats: string, float, int, malformed
- Add comprehensive test coverage for all version format edge cases
Fixes: 'LiteLLM Redis Cache LPOP: - Got exception from REDIS' error
during db_spend_update_job cronjobs
* refactor: move DEFAULT_REDIS_MAJOR_VERSION to constants.py
* Improved performance by reducing complexity
* Improved logic to prevent memory from increasing too much, added test
* Restore indent
* Restore indent
* Added type annotation
* Updated test to correctly initialize the expiration_heap
