OpenAI shut down dall-e-2 and dall-e-3 on 2026-05-12. Drop their image
generation and edit configs, the Azure dall-e-2 create-and-poll flow, and
the silent dall-e-2 fallback when no model is passed.
image_generation without a model or provider now fails locally with
"model is required". image_edit and image_variation leave model out of
the provider request instead of sending dall-e-2, so providers that
ignore model (Topaz) keep working and OpenAI returns its own 400.
* feat(tencent): add Seedream image generation and editing through TokenHub
* feat(tencent): price Seedream image generation and edits from TokenHub usage
* test(tencent): cover Seedream image generation, edits, and pricing through TokenHub
* fix(tencent): keep non-Seedream image models on the OpenAI-compatible route
Only seedream- models use TokenHub's wand route, so Hy-Image and other
tencent image models keep working as on main. The response now carries
TokenHub's image size and format, Pro's flat fallback bills its default
2K size, and the new tests are typed.
* fix(tencent): bill other Tencent image models as before and forward user and TokenHub params on edits
* fix(tencent): keep dropped edit params out and parse form-string watermark and seed
* fix(tencent): send extra_body edit fields to TokenHub as given
* fix(tencent): keep the routed model on Seedream edits and bill a deployment's per-token price
* fix(tencent): accept string drop params on edits, rebuild nested form fields, and honor a per-image deployment price
An image edit with a non-list additional_drop_params answered 500 for every provider after this branch validated it as a list, so a non-list value now drops nothing again, as chat treats it.
Seedream edits sent through the OpenAI SDK arrive as multipart form fields, so TokenHub-only booleans and integers are parsed and bracketed keys like optimize_prompt_options[mode] are rebuilt into objects. A deployment that sets only output_cost_per_image is billed that price, and the TokenHub URL uses the shared api_base helpers.

* fix(images): forward max_retries to the OpenAI image generation client
Per-call, deployment and default_litellm_params max_retries were filtered
out before reaching the OpenAI-compatible image handler, which then always
used 2 SDK retries. Forward the caller's value, and pin it to 0 for routed
calls so the Router stays the only retry owner, matching completion()

* fix(images): preserve explicit provider for async generation
* test(images): prove a bare model name reaches its explicit provider on the async path
* fix(images): validate async provider hints instead of reading untyped kwargs
Read custom_llm_provider and api_base in aimage_generation through a TypeAdapter over a small TypedDict, so the provider lookup gets typed values and the basedpyright gate stays within its merge-base ceiling
* fix: answer bad provider hints with a 400 and keep the explicit provider for async speech and transcription
* fix: keep the explicit provider for realtime and cover the audio bad-hint 400
* fix: keep the explicit provider on the realtime HTTP routes and read base_url in async audio
* fix: stop async image generation from rejecting a base_url it never reads
* fix(audio): skip base_url validation when api_base is set on async speech and transcription
* test(integration): cover a declared provider with a bare model on image, audio, and realtime routes

* test: move the unit half of 126 mixed legacy files into tests/unit
* test: restore litellm globals that moved tests set
* test: finalize migration test cleanup
* test: restore original bodies of moved legacy tests
The move into tests/unit had rewritten 612 test bodies, and some of the rewrites dropped assertions. Each moved test now carries its original body from the legacy file, with only the imports, helpers, fake provider credentials and monkeypatched env it needs to run under tests/unit
test_timeout_streaming goes back to tests/local_testing because it needs the fake OpenAI endpoint server. The image payload fixture moves with its only user, and two tests that leaked global state (a registered model cost entry and queued logging tasks) are now isolated
* test: drop module imports shadowed by restored local imports
* test: assert on LiteLLM output in no-assertion moved tests and isolate leaks
Twenty no-assertion candidates get one assertion on the value LiteLLM returns, with the original lines unchanged. Four tests go back to their legacy files because they only check types or imports, write into the working directory, or cannot assert without a body change
Two moved tests leaked globals into later tests in the same worker, so monkeypatch fixtures now restore the retry-after header parser and the end user cost tracking flags
* test: drain queued logging tasks before the Phoenix span test
The moved Phoenix test counted spans from logging tasks that earlier tests had queued, so the drain fixture moves to tests/unit/conftest.py and both it and the Datadog batch test use it. test_factory_function goes back to its legacy file because its returned wrapper calls the real Assistants API and cannot be asserted on without a body change

* fix(vertex_ai): apply regional endpoint uplift on image generation cost path
completion_cost had vertex_location but never passed it to the image
generation cost router, so a regional_endpoint_uplift_multiplier on a
Vertex image row would be ignored. No image row carries the multiplier
yet, so nothing is misbilled today. Pass the location through to the
Vertex image calculator for both the token-based price and the
per-image fallback.

Kwargs LiteLLM code introduces for its own use were only kept out of provider
bodies if someone also listed them in all_litellm_params. Undeclared ones went
into extra_body or optional_params, reached the provider, and the provider
rejected the request. is_litellm_owned_kwarg in types/utils.py now defines
LiteLLM-owned once: a registered name, or any name starting with
INTERNAL_KWARG_PREFIX from litellm/constants.py. Every filter that builds
provider params from kwargs uses it: chat completion, transcription,
embedding, image generation and edit, search and video, ElevenLabs text to
speech, and the Bedrock batch mapper. The two untyped shared filters now take
Mapping[str, object]
The stream_chunk_size wire test becomes test_internal_params_wire.py. It also
sends an undeclared _litellm_ kwarg and asserts that no _litellm_ key reaches
any of the six provider bodies, while extra_body passthrough keeps working
