Record supports_tool_search on the Bedrock Claude entries in both cost
map files and have _supports_tool_search_on_bedrock read it first via
the provider-resolved capability lookup, keeping the name patterns as a
fallback for ARNs and ids the map cannot resolve. Threads the flag
through ModelInfoBase and drops a dated remark from the pattern list
Claude Code drives Opus 4.7 with thinking {"type": "adaptive"} plus
output_config {"effort": "max"}. The anthropic-to-openai adapter
forwarded thinking verbatim for Claude models but dropped output_config,
and Bedrock Converse streams zero reasoningContent blocks for adaptive
thinking without an effort tier. Forward the effort subset of
output_config for Bedrock targets, accept it in the converse supported
params, and map it with the model's effort ceiling applied. Re-enable
the skipped e2e compat cell that catches this
Bedrock InvokeModel rejects tool_search_tool_* tool types unless the
request body carries the tool-search-tool-2025-10-19 beta. The model
allowlist gating that beta omitted Haiku 4.5 (and Opus 4.7, supported
since launch per live verification), so every tool-search request on
those models got a Bedrock 400. Add both to the allowlist and re-enable
the e2e compat cell that caught it.
* fix(bedrock): reject Anthropic server-side web_search tool with actionable error
Bedrock's Anthropic Messages endpoints cannot execute Anthropic's
server-side web_search tool, so forwarding it returns an opaque
"The provided request is not valid" 400 from Bedrock. Fail fast in the
invoke transform with an error that names the unsupported tool, the
model, and links the web search interception docs as the fix.
* refactor(bedrock): address review nits on web_search guard typing
* fix(websearch): restore snippet text in native web_search_tool_result blocks (LIT-5315)
The build_web_search_tool_result_block method copied url/title/page_age but
hardcoded encrypted_content to empty string, never reading SearchResult.snippet.
This left every native block content-free, forcing clients to web_fetch each
result to recover evidence—the reported symptom.
The Anthropic spec carries page text only in encrypted_content (an opaque
server-issued blob we cannot mint), so snippet is emitted as an additive key
alongside the spec fields. encrypted_content stays empty rather than holding
plaintext, which would assert encryption semantics that don't hold.
The anthropic SDK's BaseModel sets extra='allow', so the additive snippet key
survives SDK parsing. litellm has no typed model for web_search_result at all,
so nothing drops it internally. Turn-2 replay behavior is unaffected: the
empty encrypted_content already exists today.
Tests:
- Updated test_shape_with_results to assert snippet present
- Added test_snippet_carried_for_every_result to cover multi-result ordering
- Added test_missing_snippet_degrades_to_empty_string for edge case
- Mutation check: reverting source-only yields 3 test failures, restored to 117 passed

* fix(websearch): make synthesized web_search blocks replayable by native clients
Co-Authored-By: Devin AI <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com>
* fix(websearch): flatten a resultless replayed search block so Bedrock accepts the next turn
The flatten added for LIT-5315 bails when the replayed web_search_tool_result
carries an empty content list, but that is exactly what the interceptor emits
when a search legitimately returns nothing and when a search raises. The block
survived into the outbound body, Bedrock rejected the tag, and the conversation
died on the following turn just as it did before the flatten existed.
An empty content list has no encrypted_content to respect and no evidence to
preserve, so it flattens safely, and its paired server_tool_use goes with it.
The rendered text now says so explicitly rather than emitting a bare header.
Adds the multi-turn replay coverage that existed nowhere: the outbound Bedrock
invoke body is asserted free of both block types, parametrized over the
results-present and resultless cases, and built from the interceptor's own
builder so the fixture cannot drift from what it emits.
Resolves LIT-5320
* test(websearch): pin flatten idempotency for the agentic-loop re-entry
The agentic loop re-enters the same /v1/messages entry point for its follow-up
call and hands it the original client history, so the flatten runs again over
already-flattened messages once per iteration. Bedrock always takes that path,
since its config reports web search as natively handled and the short-circuit
is skipped.
A pass that appended the rendered text instead of replacing the block would
duplicate the evidence on every iteration and re-ship the unsupported tag, and
no existing single-pass test sees it. Mutation checked: keeping the original
block alongside the rendered text fails this test on its own.

S3 rebuilds the canonical request from the wire path with single
percent-encoding, which botocore models as S3SigV4Auth. Generic SigV4Auth
quotes the already encoded path a second time, so an object key holding any
character that percent-encodes was signed over %2520 while the request
carried %20, and S3 answered 403 SignatureDoesNotMatch.
The S3 logger was corrected in #35726; the Bedrock managed-files upload and
retrieval paths copied that same pre-fix pattern and were left behind, so a
configured bucket prefix with a space 403s every file upload and every file
content read.
Converse rejects a request that carries both toolConfig.toolChoice and an
additionalModelRequestFields.tool_choice.type, so any request that pairs
parallel_tool_calls with an explicit tool_choice 400s with "The additional field
tool_choice/type conflicts with the existing field toolConfig.toolChoice.auto".
That pairing is what agentic clients send by default; Codex CLI sends
tool_choice "auto" and parallel_tool_calls false on every turn, so tool calling
was broken outright on Bedrock models that advertise
supports_parallel_tool_use_config.
Drop the type from the Anthropic passthrough once toolChoice carries it, and keep
disable_parallel_tool_use, which has no toolConfig equivalent and is accepted
alongside toolChoice. Measured against Bedrock directly: toolChoice plus
{disable_parallel_tool_use} succeeds for auto, any and tool, while an empty
tool_choice with no toolChoice is rejected for a missing type, so the type still
has to be emitted when the caller sends no tool_choice.

Bedrock managed-batch file upload read `messages` unconditionally, so a
JSONL record shaped for /v1/completions (`prompt`) or /v1/responses
(`input`) reached the per-provider transform with an empty message list.
Anthropic and Nova rejected it at POST /v1/files, and the passthrough
providers shipped an empty conversation to AWS.
Classify each record by its OpenAI batch `url`, then normalize the
non-embedding shapes to chat completions before the Bedrock transforms:
`prompt` wraps into user messages the way litellm.text_completion does in
real time, and `input` goes through the existing Responses-to-Chat bridge.

The explicit AssumeRole branch of BaseAWSLLM.get_credentials returned without
touching the process-wide IAM cache, so every model request issued a fresh
sts:AssumeRole, and on ECS/EC2 an uncached sts:GetCallerIdentity ahead of it.
Route the whole role branch through _get_or_set_cached_credentials with the TTL
_auth_with_aws_role already computed and discarded. The cache key is the same
aws_* argument snapshot the other flows use, taken before the session-name
default is filled in, so each aws_session_name keeps its own STS session and no
attributed identity can be served another's credentials.
Credential fetches now single-flight behind striped locks. Without that, a burst
of concurrent misses on one key each issued their own STS call, which is the
same thundering herd the cache exists to prevent, moved to the miss window.
Cache web identity STS credentials in the shared IAM cache (restores the
pre-v1.85.0 behavior removed by #27125) and cap the Google OIDC token cache
TTL at the token's own exp claim minus a 60s margin, never caching an
already-expired token
The huggingface embedding test fixture reloaded
litellm.llms.custom_httpx.http_handler, creating a new HTTPHandler class
object. llm_http_handler keeps the class captured at import time, so any
test running later in the same process that injects a client built from
the reloaded class fails the isinstance check and the mock is silently
discarded, causing a real network call. Under pytest-xdist loadscope this
surfaced as a deterministic failure of
test_accept_header_in_completion_request_jwt whenever an unrelated PR
shifted worker distribution.
Also removes the same reload pattern from the vertex rerank integration
test (both were previously removed in a6df01caec and resurrected by a
merge conflict resolution) and hardens the agentcore victim test by
dropping the bare except that swallowed the real error
Caller-supplied bedrock_tags land as AWS resource tags under the proxy's
AWS identity, letting an authenticated caller forge ownership or
cost-allocation labels. Add bedrock_tags to _BANNED_REQUEST_BODY_PARAMS
so per-request tags need general_settings.allow_client_side_credentials
or configurable_clientside_auth_params on the deployment, matching the
aws_bedrock_project_id precedent. Deployment-level bedrock_tags in
litellm_params are unaffected.
Also stop an explicit empty bedrock_tags list in litellm_params from
falling through to optional_params
Adds the regression test for the warning-drop branch in the Converse
adaptive-thinking translation, mirroring the chat completions path's
test_raw_adaptive_thinking_dropped_when_max_tokens_too_small.
Follow-up to #32867 (native /v1/messages) and the /chat/completions
commit earlier on this branch, extending the same adaptive-thinking
translation to the Bedrock Converse path.
Clients like Claude Code send thinking={type: "adaptive"} on every
request. When routed via Bedrock Converse to pre-4.6 models
(claude-haiku-4-5, claude-sonnet-4-5), this was forwarded as-is and
rejected by the model. Mirrors the translation already applied on the
/chat/completions and /v1/messages paths: map to legacy
thinking={type: enabled, budget_tokens}, capped below max_tokens.
Also fixes the missing custom_llm_provider arg in the chat completions
path's call to AnthropicConfig._map_reasoning_effort.
Exact cost-map hits resolve before fallback-generalization rules, so the
mapped Sonnet 5, Fable 5 and jp Opus 4.8 Bedrock entries bypassed the
bedrock-anthropic-claude-mid-conversation-system rule and hoisted
mid-conversation system messages, invalidating the prompt cache.
* fix(bedrock): gate in-place system role messages on model support for Claude Invoke
* feat(bedrock): default unmapped Claude 4.8+ to in-place system role handling via fallback rule
Hoisting every role system entry into the top-level system field mutates
the cache prefix whenever a client such as Claude Code appends a new
mid-conversation system message, invalidating the prompt cache for the
entire message history on Bedrock Invoke. Bedrock only rejects a system
entry at messages.0, so hoist just the leading run and forward the rest
in place
* fix(bedrock-invoke): retain clear_tool_uses_20250919 context_management edits and emit context-management-2025-06-27 beta (LIT-3393)
Copy of #29206 by oss-agent-shin, rebased onto litellm_internal_staging so CircleCI can run.
Bedrock InvokeModel supports automatic tool-call clearing (clear_tool_uses_20250919) under the context-management-2025-06-27 beta, but LiteLLM stripped the edit and dropped the beta header, causing a Bedrock 400. This maps bedrock.context-management-2025-06-27 to itself in anthropic_beta_headers_config.json (bedrock_converse stays null) and rewrites _filter_context_management_for_bedrock_invoke around an allowlist of supported edit types that keeps each supported edit and adds its matching beta.
* test(bedrock-invoke): restore beta-headers config cache with a shared fixture in LIT-3393 tests
Greptile flagged that three of the four new tests reloaded the module-level
beta-headers config into local mode without restoring it on teardown, leaking
state into later tests in the same process. Move setup/teardown into a
local_beta_headers_config fixture used by all four tests.

Bedrock Converse supports cachePoint ttl (1h GA for Claude 4.5+), and
_get_cache_point_block maps cache_control.ttl -> cachePoint.ttl, but the
model parameter its allow-list gate requires was only threaded through
the system-message path. Every message-level path either called
_get_cache_point_block without model= (8 call sites in
_bedrock_converse_messages_pt / _pt_async) or hardcoded
CachePointBlock(type="default") (tool-result blocks and
_convert_to_bedrock_tool_call_invoke), so a requested 1h ttl silently
degraded to the 5-minute default - exactly on the conversation-tail
breakpoint that long-running agents need to survive tool calls longer
than 5 minutes.
- pass model= at the 8 _get_cache_point_block call sites
- tool-result blocks: capture the cache_control dict (was a boolean)
and route through _get_cache_point_block so ttl survives
- _convert_to_bedrock_tool_call_invoke: accept optional model and route
per-tool-call cache_control through _get_cache_point_block
Completes the ttl support added for system messages (#19848, #20326):
message-level cache_control now behaves identically.
Note: message-level cache_control on a content-less assistant message
emits no cachePoint at all today; that pre-existing gap is orthogonal
to ttl and left out of scope (per-tool-call placement covers it).

* fix(bedrock): stop stale SigV4 headers clobbering fresh signature on re-sign
When the Anthropic /v1/messages strip-thinking-and-retry path re-signs a
Bedrock request, _sign_request received attempt 1's already-signed headers
and copied the old Authorization and X-Amz-Date back over the freshly
computed SigV4 signature, so the retry POSTed the stripped body with a
signature for the original body and AWS returned 403 SignatureDoesNotMatch.
Skip SigV4-computed headers (authorization, x-amz-date,
x-amz-security-token, date) when restoring caller headers after signing,
and only preserve a caller-supplied Authorization that is not itself a
SigV4 header so bearer-token setups keep working.
* fix(bedrock): apply the same stale-header guard to get_request_headers
* fix(bedrock): emit SSE error event when invoke Messages stream ends without message_stop
* fix(bedrock): tighten stream-terminal detection to avoid false positives and double errors
The bytes branch of _is_message_stop_chunk used a plain substring match,
so a content_block_delta whose partial_json contained the literal text
message_stop would look like a real terminal event and suppress the
synthetic incomplete-stream error. Match the SSE event header line
instead.
Also treat a provider-emitted error event as terminal so a stream that
ends with an upstream error is not followed by a second, contradictory
synthetic incomplete-stream error.
* test(bedrock): lock in that the synthetic truncation error event is excluded from logged chunks

* fix(bedrock): map guardrailConfig to InvokeModel guardrail headers
The InvokeModel API takes the guardrail identifier, version and trace as
X-Amzn-Bedrock-* request headers, unlike Converse which takes them in the
request body. The invoke transformer never set these headers, so
guardrailConfig was silently dropped (or leaked into the request body)
and Bedrock guardrails never ran on invoke-route models. Pop
guardrailConfig in AmazonInvokeConfig.validate_environment, validate it,
and set the headers before SigV4 signing; explicitly passed headers keep
winning over guardrailConfig so existing workarounds are unaffected
* fix(bedrock): reject guardrailConfig missing guardrailIdentifier
A guardrailConfig without guardrailIdentifier (e.g. an empty dict) would
validate, produce no guardrail headers, and let the request proceed with
guardrails silently not applied; that silent skip is the exact failure
mode this fix exists to remove, so fail fast with a 400 instead
* fix(bedrock): honor ttl for tool_config cache injection points
Pass cache_control_injection_points control.ttl through to Bedrock
toolConfig cachePoint blocks, matching message/system cache behavior.
Co-authored-by: Cursor <cursoragent@cursor.com>
* refactor(bedrock): drive Claude 4.5+ ttl support from pricing JSON, not regex
is_claude_4_5_on_bedrock hardcoded a model-name pattern list that needed a
manual update for every new Claude release (it already silently missed
Sonnet 5 and Fable 5). Replace it with a lookup against
cache_creation_input_token_cost_above_1hr in model_prices_and_context_window.json,
which AWS docs confirm tracks the same 1h-TTL-capable model set.
Also fixes two bedrock Claude 3.5 Sonnet entries that incorrectly carried
that pricing field (their own regional variants didn't have it), which
would have made the JSON-driven check wrongly grant them 1h TTL support.
Co-authored-by: Cursor <cursoragent@cursor.com>
* fix(tests): use real Claude Sonnet 4.5 release id in ttl cache-point tests
test_add_cache_point_tool_block_passes_ttl_for_claude_4_5 and
test_bedrock_tools_pt_passes_ttl_for_claude_4_5 used a fabricated model id
(...-20250514-v1:0) that never shipped. This passed under the old regex-based
is_claude_4_5_on_bedrock, which matched on substring alone, but fails now
that it looks up cache_creation_input_token_cost_above_1hr in
litellm.model_cost, since the fake id has no pricing entry.
Also force the bundled local cost map in both tests so ttl eligibility reads
this branch's pricing data instead of the network-fetched main copy, which
lacks the fix until merge.

* fix(bedrock): restore cache and tool config compatibility
* fix(bedrock): preserve Sonnet 5 parallel tool config
* fix(bedrock): decouple parallel tool support from cache ttl
* refactor(bedrock): drive parallel tool use config from JSON, not hardcoded patterns
Replace the hardcoded _CLAUDE_BEDROCK_PARALLEL_TOOL_USE_PATTERNS tuple and
bedrock_converse_supports_strict_tool_schemas (dead code) with a
supports_parallel_tool_use_config key in model_prices_and_context_window.json,
matching how is_claude_4_5_on_bedrock already reads
cache_creation_input_token_cost_above_1hr from the pricing JSON.
New models pick up parallel tool use support automatically when their
pricing entry ships with the key set, with no code change required

* fix(tests): use real model id in parallel-tool-use-without-ttl-pricing test
anthropic.claude-opus-4-7-unlisted-v1:0 has no entry in
model_prices_and_context_window.json, so
bedrock_converse_supports_parallel_tool_use_config returned False and the
test died with KeyError on additionalModelRequestFields. Use
jp.anthropic.claude-opus-4-7, a real entry that carries
supports_parallel_tool_use_config without 1h-TTL cache pricing, which is
exactly the decoupling this test exists to cover
* test(utils): allow supports_parallel_tool_use_config in pricing schema
The misc unit test job validates model_prices_and_context_window.json
against the INTENDED_SCHEMA allowlist in test_utils.py, which rejects
unknown keys. Add the supports_parallel_tool_use_config key this PR
introduced so test_aaamodel_prices_and_context_window_json_is_valid
passes again
* fix(bedrock): preserve ttl for regional claude models
* fix(bedrock): fall back to base model entry when regional pricing lacks capability fields
Regional model_cost entries like jp.anthropic.claude-opus-4-7 that omit
cache_creation_input_token_cost_above_1hr shadowed the base entry that has it,
so is_claude_4_5_on_bedrock returned False and requested cache ttl values were
dropped for those deployments. Both capability lookups now consult the full
model id and the region-stripped base entry, matching the coverage of the old
name-pattern list. Also restores ToolBlock keyword construction for the
tool_config cachePoint; PEP 589 TypedDict keyword instantiation works on every
supported Python version
