refactor(lint): apply every safe ruff autofix and zero 28 strict-rule budgets
About 35,000 fixes ruff marks safe across 32 rules (UP006/UP045/UP007 modern annotations, UP032 f-strings, SIM114/SIM118, RET501, and friends), removal of the 1,296 typing imports the rewrite orphaned, and hand fixes for what the fixers could not see: five star-import freeloaders of typing names, two F823 late-import annotations, the /get/config/list introspection crash on types.UnionType, redundant function-local RoleMappings imports in ui_sso.py that shadowed the module-level name once the annotation lost its quotes, and one FURB168 tautology. B009/B010/PIE804/RUF019 are excluded on purpose: their safe fixes rewrite getattr/setattr/**-splat/key-in-dict escape hatches into forms basedpyright then rejects (283 new errors measured), so their budgets stay at base values. ruff-strict-budget.json drops by 39,579 this commit (39,968 across the branch) with 28 rules at an actual 0 and 9 more sharply down. type-discipline-budget.json ratchets LIT002/LIT006/LIT009 down; LIT001 moves to the now-honest total: the checker matches the spelling `set` but not the alias `Set`, so the 160 typing.Set annotations rewritten to set[...] were always mutable-set annotations and only now count. |

_mask_value did partial reveal by showing the first visible_prefix and last
visible_suffix characters, but for a value whose length was at or below
visible_prefix + visible_suffix (8 by default) it returned the value verbatim.
A value of exactly 8 chars fell through the length guard and computed
masked_length == 0, reconstructing the original string with no mask characters;
anything shorter hit the early return. Either way short credentials were emitted
in plaintext.
mask_dict routes real secrets through this path, so an 8-char-or-shorter redis
password, api key, or token could be written to logs and the UI unmasked. The
sibling helper mask_sensitive_keys already guards this case; _mask_value now does
the same by fully masking any value at or below the threshold.
* fix(sensitive_data_masker): add mask_short_values opt-out for truncation callers
Fully masking short values is the right default for secret masking, but
CooldownCache reuses the masker purely to truncate exception messages to the
first 50 characters, and it relies on short messages being returned readable.
Masking those blanked out short exception text and broke its tests.
Add a mask_short_values flag (default True, secure) and have CooldownCache pass
False so it keeps the truncation behavior, while every secret-masking caller
still gets short values fully masked.
* fix(mcp_debug): opt out of short-value masking to keep diagnostic token preview
MCPDebug uses the masker to preview auth tokens in debug headers and documents
that values of 10 chars or fewer are shown unchanged so token types stay
distinguishable. Pass mask_short_values=False so that diagnostic behavior is
preserved while secret maskers keep masking short values.
* fix(mcp_debug): mask short auth values in debug headers instead of echoing them
Earlier this masker opted out of short-value masking to keep a token preview, but
that echoes short authorization and token values verbatim in debug response
headers, which is the same leak this change is meant to close. Auth material
should never be emitted in full, so mask short values here too; the first/last
character preview still applies to longer tokens. Only CooldownCache keeps the
opt-out, since it truncates exception text rather than masking secrets.

* refactor(fireworks_ai): remove deprecated audio transcriptions endpoint (#30917)
Fireworks AI deprecated audio inference on 2026-06-10
(https://docs.fireworks.ai/updates/changelog#audio-inference-and-image-generation-deprecation).
Live API testing confirms the endpoint is already non-functional: a valid
Fireworks API key receives HTTP 401 "Unauthorized" from
api.fireworks.ai/inference/v1/audio/transcriptions for every request,
regardless of payload. The audio-prod.api.fireworks.ai host referenced in
the test suite returns 401 for every path; the entire host is decommissioned.
Remove the dead FireworksAIAudioTranscriptionConfig class and every
reference to it across the codebase:
- Delete litellm/llms/fireworks_ai/audio_transcription/ directory (17-line
config class that inherited from OpenAIWhisperAudioTranscriptionConfig)
- Remove the Fireworks branch from
ProviderConfigManager.get_provider_audio_transcription_config() in
litellm/utils.py; update the stale comment in
get_optional_params_transcription that referenced fireworks ai
- Remove the FireworksAIAudioTranscriptionConfig entries from
LLM_CONFIG_NAMES and _LLM_CONFIGS_IMPORT_MAP in
litellm/_lazy_imports_registry.py
- Remove the TYPE_CHECKING re-export in litellm/__init__.py
- Remove the transcription branch in the fireworks_ai case of
get_supported_openai_params() in
litellm/litellm_core_utils/get_supported_openai_params.py
- Remove the whisper-v3 and whisper-v3-turbo entries from
model_prices_and_context_window.json and
litellm/model_prices_and_context_window_backup.json (both had
mode: audio_transcription and zero-cost pricing)
- Remove the TestFireworksAIAudioTranscription test class and its
imports from tests/llm_translation/test_fireworks_ai_translation.py
No other provider is affected. The openai_compatible_providers list,
FireworksAIMixin, and the OpenAI Whisper transcription handler all stay
because they are shared with other Fireworks endpoints and other
providers. The provider_endpoints_support.json registry already had
audio_transcriptions set to false for fireworks_ai.

LiteLLM's Prisma datasource is pinned to provider = 'postgresql', so a sqlite:// or mysql:// DATABASE_URL can never connect.
Today that surfaces as an opaque startup stall where the port never binds, and a separate 'DB not connected' 500 on /key/generate when no DATABASE_URL is set at all leaves operators guessing what to configure.
Validate the DATABASE_URL / DIRECT_URL scheme in run_server before any Prisma call and exit with an actionable message naming the unsupported scheme.
Also reword CommonProxyErrors.db_not_connected_error to tell the operator to set DATABASE_URL to a postgresql:// connection string.
Add regression tests covering postgres acceptance and sqlite/mysql/mssql rejection.

When a streaming request triggers a fallback, there was previously no way to
know it happened. This commit addresses this in a few ways:
1. The response now correctly populates the fallback headers
(`x-litellm-attempted-fallbacks`) so callers know a fallback happened.
2. The correct model ID is passed in the streaming chunks.
3. A streaming chunk with the fallback error can be optionally sent back
to the client (opt-in) by passing `include_fallback_errors: true` in
the request.
The format of the fallback errors while streaming is intentionally OpenAI
compatible to not break existing libraries that parse these events. It was
tested with Vercel's AI SDK (ai-sdk.dev). It is also opt-in, so it is not
delieved unexpectedly to callers by default.
* fix(mistral): drop output-only reasoning fields from input messages (#30884)
LiteLLM attaches reasoning_content and thinking_blocks to assistant
responses. Replaying those assistant turns verbatim forwarded the fields
back to Mistral, whose input schema forbids unknown keys, so the whole
request failed with a 422 extra_forbidden and reasoning models became
unusable across multiple turns.
Strip both fields from assistant messages before the request is built, in
a spot that runs ahead of the image/file branch so it applies on every
path. Fixes #30835

The fallback cost calculator divided search_context_cost_per_query by
1000, but that field stores the per-request price in USD: sonar is
{low: 0.005, medium: 0.008, high: 0.012}, matching Perplexity's published
$5/$8/$12 per 1,000 requests expressed per request. The gemini cost
calculator reads the same field per request with no division (its
docstring calls it "the per-request cost").
The division understated search cost by 1000x on every Perplexity call
that falls back to manual calculation (i.e. when the API does not return
a pre-computed usage.cost). Use the value directly.
Update the tests that had encoded the /1000 factor in their expectations,
and drop an unused import flagged by ruff in the touched test file.
* test(perplexity): update integration test search-cost expectations to per-request
The integration tests still encoded the old /1000 search-cost factor, so
they failed once the fallback calculator was corrected to bill
search_context_cost_per_query per request. Update the four expected-cost
computations (and the high-volume dollar-value comments) to match.

Fireworks AI deprecated audio inference on 2026-06-10; the endpoint is
decommissioned. Without an explicit transcription branch, requests with
request_type='transcription' fell through to the else and returned
FireworksAIConfig chat-completion params. Return None instead to signal
the provider does not support transcription.
* fix(proxy): gate include_fallback_errors behind expose_fallback_errors_to_caller setting
Without an operator gate, any authenticated caller could set include_fallback_errors=True,
trigger a fallback, and read raw upstream exception messages from the
x-litellm-fallback-errors header and the litellm-fallback-metadata SSE event.
Strip include_fallback_errors from request data in common_processing_pre_call_logic
when expose_fallback_errors_to_caller is not set, so the router never builds the
error list. Also gate _should_include_fallback_errors on the same setting as a
secondary check for the streaming SSE injection path.

A2A agents backed by a custom_llm_provider (e.g. langgraph,
bedrock_agentcore) silently dropped any per-request headers rewritten
from the inbound `x-a2a-{agent}-*` convention or admin-configured
`extra_headers`. The headers were correctly extracted in
`a2a_endpoints.py` but never passed into
`_send_message_via_completion_bridge` or the bridge handler, so the
upstream HTTP request reached the agent backend without them.
Thread `agent_extra_headers` through:
- asend_message / asend_message_streaming -> bridge call sites
- _send_message_via_completion_bridge
- A2ACompletionBridgeHandler.handle_non_streaming / handle_streaming
- Inject as `extra_headers` into the underlying litellm.acompletion()
call, and forward to provider configs via kwargs (their **kwargs
signature absorbs it harmlessly today).
* fix(a2a): forward agent_extra_headers through bridge convenience wrappers
Address greptile review on PR #28277:
- handle_a2a_completion / handle_a2a_completion_streaming (the public,
exported convenience wrappers) now accept agent_extra_headers and
forward it to the underlying class methods. Without this, callers
going through the public API would still silently drop per-request
headers — the exact regression this PR fixes for the class-method
path.
- Add the missing agent_extra_headers entry to the handle_streaming
docstring for parity with handle_non_streaming.

Address greptile follow-up on PR #28277:
BedrockAgentCoreA2AConfig was absorbing agent_extra_headers via **kwargs
but never propagating to the underlying HTTP POST, so x-a2a-{agent}-*
rewrites and admin extra_headers were silently dropped on the
bedrock_agentcore path that bypasses the completion bridge.
Thread the parameter through the full Bedrock AgentCore stack:
- config.handle_non_streaming / handle_streaming pull
agent_extra_headers from kwargs and pass to the handler.
- handler.handle_non_streaming / handle_streaming accept it and forward
to the transformation layer.
- transformation.get_url_and_signed_request merges agent_extra_headers
into the headers dict BEFORE signing, so SigV4 covers them in the
signature. JWT/Bearer path: AgentCore signer always overwrites
Authorization with api_key, so use api_key (not agent_extra_headers)
to override the bearer token.
Also fix a pre-existing test assertion that was already broken by the
parent commit ab70ff6 (test_provider_config_receives_litellm_params
didn't include agent_extra_headers in the expected call).
Tests:

Per veria-ai security review on PR #28277:
agent_extra_headers carries values rewritten from the client-controlled
x-a2a-{agent}-* convention, so the unconditional 'headers.update(agent_extra_headers)'
in BedrockAgentCoreA2ATransformation.get_url_and_signed_request let any
caller with access to an agent overwrite headers the proxy sets from
trusted server-side config -- most notably
X-Amzn-Bedrock-AgentCore-Runtime-User-Id, which AWS treats as the runtime
identity. Because the merge happened before SigV4 signing, the spoofed
value would also be bound into a valid signature.
Strip reserved AWS/AgentCore headers (authorization, host,
x-amzn-bedrock-agentcore-runtime-*, x-amz-*) from agent_extra_headers
before merging and log a warning when any are dropped. Legitimate
per-request headers (e.g. x-mcp-token, x-tenant) still pass through.
Adds two tests covering both the JWT path (verifies the spoof does not
land on the outbound headers) and the SigV4 path (verifies the signer
never sees the spoofed values).

types (str, list, bool), so mypy inferred the value type as a narrow
union that did not accept dict[str, str] when assigning extra_headers.

and streaming bridge handlers so the agent_extra_headers merge
type-checks cleanly.

agent_extra_headers contains both admin static_headers and caller-derived
dynamic headers (from the x-a2a-{agent}-* rewrite). Merging it last would
let a caller replace headers that the proxy was configured to send upstream
via litellm_params.extra_headers. Flip the merge order so admin-configured
headers take precedence on conflict.
* fix(a2a/headers): merge_agent_headers compares case-insensitively
HTTP header names are case-insensitive, but the previous merge was a
case-sensitive dict update. That meant an admin-configured
static_headers['Authorization'] (capital A) did not strip a
caller-rewritten x-a2a-{agent}-authorization (lowercase, from the
inbound header normalization in a2a_endpoints) - both ended up on the
outbound request to pydantic_ai / langgraph / etc.
Restore the documented 'static wins on conflict' invariant by comparing
case-insensitively when overlaying static_headers. Static side's casing
is preserved on the output.
* fix(a2a/bridge): merge configured extra_headers case-insensitively over caller headers
A caller-rewritten lowercase header (e.g. authorization from the
x-a2a-{agent}-* convention) could ride alongside an admin-configured
case-variant key in litellm_params.extra_headers, sending duplicate
Authorization headers upstream. The bridge now reuses
merge_agent_headers so configured headers win case-insensitively, in
both the non-streaming and streaming paths. merge_agent_headers moved
to litellm.interactions.agents.utils (re-exported from the proxy utils)
so the SDK-level bridge does not import from litellm.proxy.

* fix(interactions): never drop streamed text deltas; always emit terminal completion The interactions streaming bridge had two bugs flagged by Greptile on PR #28153: 1. The first OutputTextDeltaEvent (and the second, when no ResponseCreatedEvent precedes the deltas) was consumed to emit a synthetic interaction.created / step.start event, but the chunk's text payload was never forwarded as a step.delta. The text only reappeared in the terminal step.stop, which defeats the purpose of incremental streaming. 2. When the upstream Responses API stream ended via StopIteration without a ResponseCompletedEvent, the iterator emitted step.stop but never the terminal interaction.completed event carrying the full collected text. This refactors the iterator to translate each upstream chunk into a list of events (instead of a single event) and buffers them in a deque. A text delta now expands into [interaction.created, step.start, step.delta] on the first chunk so no token is dropped, and the StopIteration / StopAsyncIteration fallback always flushes a terminal interaction.completed event when one hasn't already been sent. The two ids can differ, leaving consumers that correlate events by id unable to match the start and completion events. "false" or "False" silently activated the legacy Interactions API
schema. Match the env-var parsing pattern in litellm/__init__.py by

* fix(interactions): stabilize streaming bridge schema, dict aliasing, and lost first delta
- Capture use_legacy_interactions_schema once at iterator construction so
all events emitted by a single stream use a consistent schema, even if
the global flag is mutated mid-stream.
- Check for the buffered interaction.complete/completed event before the
finished check in __next__/__anext__ so the final completion event
(which carries the full collected text in steps) is not dropped after
self.finished is set.
- Copy text content entries before appending to both outputs and the
steps content list to avoid shared mutable dict aliasing between the
two response fields.

against dict literals it had just constructed, so it always passed and
did not exercise the create_interaction endpoint. The endpoint

was also factually incorrect. Drop the misleading test.

VCR redis persister was raising UnicodeDecodeError on cached payloads that
fail to UTF-8 decode (e.g. legacy entries written by another version of
the persister), failing tests at fixture setup instead of degrading to a
cache miss. Wrap decode+deserialize in a try/except so corrupt cache
entries are treated as CassetteNotFoundError, surfacing the failure via
the existing _record_cache_failure / VCRCassetteCacheWarning path.
OpenAI shut down gpt-4o-realtime-preview-2024-12-17 (and the entire
gpt-4o-realtime-preview family) on 2026-05-07. The live realtime
guardrails integration test now fails with model_not_found instead of
receiving session.created. Point OPENAI_REALTIME_URL at the current GA
model gpt-realtime, and relax the assertion in
test_text_message_blocked_by_guardrail_no_ai_response to also accept the
model's refusal-to-repeat the block message (gpt-realtime declines
verbatim-repeat instructions, which is still a safe outcome since the
original user message was blocked before reaching OpenAI). The
BLOCKED_PHRASE leak check is preserved as a hard invariant.
* fix(tests): migrate realtime + nvidia_nim rerank tests off shut-down upstream models
OpenAI shut down the entire gpt-4o-realtime-preview family (including the
undated alias) on 2026-05-07. The live realtime tests still connected
with that dead alias and failed with messages_received=1 (an error event
'The model gpt-4o-realtime-preview does not exist' instead of
session.created). Point the live OpenAI realtime tests at gpt-realtime,
the current GA realtime model:
- test_openai_realtime_simple.py: get_model() -> gpt-realtime
- test_openai_realtime.py: test_openai_realtime_direct_call_no_intent and
test_openai_realtime_direct_call_with_intent -> openai/gpt-realtime
Mocked unit tests (test_realtime_query_params_construction,
test_realtime_query_params_use_normalized_model_name) are left as-is:
they never hit the network and assert string plumbing only.
NVIDIA reached end-of-life for the hosted
nvidia/llama-3.2-nv-rerankqa-1b-v2 rerank API on 2026-05-18 with no
published replacement, so the live BaseLLMRerankTest.test_basic_rerank
for nvidia_nim now returns HTTP 410 ('Gone'). NVIDIA's hosted catalog
rotates on a schedule, so swapping in another live model would only
defer the failure. Override test_basic_rerank in TestNvidiaNim to mock
the sync/async HTTP transport (same pattern as
test_nvidia_nim_rerank_ranking_endpoint in this file) and inject a fake
NVIDIA_NIM_API_KEY via monkeypatch. The request/response transformation
and cost calculation stay covered offline.
* test(callbacks): harden flaky proxy callback-leak detector
The proxy callback-leak detector (test_check_num_callbacks_on_lowest_latency)
was failing on this PR with 'abs(85 - 95) <= 4' — a bounded one-time
registration jump caused by switching to latency-based-routing
(+LowestLatencyLoggingHandler, +SlackAlerting). The count then plateaus
under load, so this is pollution from the test's own config update, not a
leak.
Replace the brittle two-sample diff threshold with a sampler that settles
past the deliberate config switch and only flags sustained monotonic
per-type growth, with a terminal-burst confirmation pass for leaks that
would otherwise escape the >=2-interval guard. Normalizes instance
addresses so identical callbacks at different memory locations collapse,
and names the leaking type on failure.
* fix(interactions): preserve first text token when both start events are missing
When OutputTextDeltaEvent arrived before any ResponseCreatedEvent or
ContentPartAddedEvent, the double-fallback path emitted interaction.start
and silently dropped the first delta's text — the second delta's
content.start carried only that chunk's delta, and the first token never
made it to any content.delta event consumed by the UI.
Queue a content.start that carries the first delta's text alongside the
interaction.start emission, and drain pending events before pulling the
next upstream chunk.
