* fix(auth): route JWT default-team into memberships instead of the create payload

JWT auto-provisioning (get_user_object with user_id_upsert) merged
litellm.default_internal_user_params verbatim into the Prisma user create,
including a teams key. When a default team is configured through the Admin
UI it is stored as a list of NewUserRequestTeam objects, but the user
table's teams column is String[], so the create raised a Prisma type error
and every JWT-authenticated request 401'd with the user never created.

Mirror the /user/new path: strip teams (and available_teams) out of the
create payload, then route the configured default team through
check_if_default_team_set / add_new_user_to_default_team so provisioned
users get real membership rows. Reuse the synthetic PROXY_ADMIN
UserAPIKeyAuth pattern already used by the team-upsert path to satisfy the
membership permission gate, and import the helpers lazily to avoid the
auth_checks <-> internal_user_endpoints import cycle.

* fix(proxy): enforce global max_budget against the resettable proxy budget row

The global proxy budget check compared litellm.max_budget against
SUM(spend) from the MonthlyGlobalSpend view, whose window is hardcoded
to a trailing 30 days. litellm.budget_duration was stored and reset on
a user row that enforcement never read, and startup budgeted the admin
user's own row (default_user_id) instead of the litellm-proxy-budget
aggregate row the spend writer increments per request. Net effect: 1d,
7d and 30d all behaved as a trailing 30 day cap that never reset on the
configured duration.

Startup now upserts the budget onto the litellm-proxy-budget row (and
zeroes lifetime accrual when first putting a row on a reset schedule),
enforcement loads global spend from that row, and ResetBudgetJob drops
the cached global spend accumulator when it resets that row so the cap
unblocks immediately after each window.

* refactor(proxy): address review nits on global proxy budget fix

Drop the redundant litellm_proxy_budget_name parameter from
_upsert_proxy_budget_with_reset_at_backfill; its only caller always passed
LITELLM_PROXY_BUDGET_NAME, and any other value would write the budget to a
row enforcement never reads.

Introduce GLOBAL_PROXY_SPEND_CACHE_KEY in constants.py and use it at every
site that previously built the key from litellm_proxy_admin_name (auth
loads, spend-writer increments, startup warm, reset-job invalidation), so
the reader and invalidator can no longer drift apart. The literal key value
is unchanged. Also drop the now-pointless litellm_proxy_admin_name
parameter from _warm_global_spend_cache and the proxy_server import from
the reset-job helper.

fix(proxy): attribute org spend for team-linked credentials minted without org_id (#34577)
* fix(proxy): attribute spend to org for team-linked keys minted without org_id

Keys attached to an org-linked team but minted without an organization_id
produced spend that was never credited to the org: the spend writer reads
user_api_key_dict.org_id with no team fallback, while the org budget check
resolves the org from the team. The check therefore ran against a counter
fed by almost none of the org's traffic and never tripped.

Backfill org_id from the freshly fetched team object in
_run_centralized_common_checks, per request only, so the spend writer and
the budget check read the same org. A key with an explicitly pinned org_id
always wins, and the cached key row is never mutated, so moving a team to
a different org takes effect on the next auth once the team cache
refreshes.

* test(proxy): cover CLI session-token org backfill from team

CLI session tokens from /sso/cli/poll are minted with a real team_id but
no org_id, and their auth path decrypts the blob without the combined_view
team join that fills org for DB keys. Spend from these tokens reached the
team but never the org, so org budgets never tripped. The regression test
mints a real CLI token, runs it through the centralized checks, and
asserts the credential leaves auth with the team's org.

* fix(proxy): reject request when budget reservation write fails under fail_closed_budget_enforcement

With general_settings.fail_closed_budget_enforcement set to true, the read-time
spend check already returns 503 when spend cannot be verified, but the atomic
pre-call reservation still failed open: reserve_budget_for_request swallowed
_CounterReservationUnavailable per counter and degraded to read-time-only
enforcement, so concurrent requests could all pass the same under-budget read
during a Redis outage and overspend past the configured budget.

Now the strict flag is threaded into reserve_budget_for_request and a failed
reservation write raises 503, releasing any counters that already reserved.
Default behavior with the flag absent or false is unchanged.

Fixes #33923

* feat(proxy): add overwrite_user_with_key_hash to stamp outgoing user param with key hash

Adds a litellm_settings flag that forces the outgoing user param to the
authenticated key's hashed token before the request is forwarded to the
provider. The value overrides any caller-supplied user, so providers see
a stable, tamper-proof identifier they can rate-limit or ban on, and the
hash matches user_api_key_hash in spend logs for easy mapping back to
the key owner. Off by default

* fix(proxy): hash non-sk credentials before stamping user param

UserAPIKeyAuth only hashes sk-prefixed keys and JWTs; custom-auth
credentials stay raw on api_key, so stamping them directly would forward
auth material to the provider. Pass through the two known hashed forms
(sha256 hex, hashed-jwt-*) and hash anything else

* refactor(proxy): stamp only standard virtual keys, skip jwt and custom auth

A hashed JWT rotates on every token re-issue so it is useless as a
stable ban id, and custom-auth credentials arrive raw on api_key.
Instead of hashing whatever we hold, the stamp now applies only when
api_key is the sha256 hex digest of a standard virtual key; other auth
methods are explicitly out of scope until the stamped identifier is
configurable

* fix(proxy): gate user stamping on server-set virtual key provenance

Shape alone cannot distinguish a key hash from a raw custom-auth
credential that happens to be 64 hex chars. Adds via_virtual_key, a
server-only marker on UserAPIKeyAuth following the
mcp_admitted_user_subject pattern: stripped from all validated input so
handlers and claims cannot forge it, set by post-construction assignment
only at the DB virtual-key auth return. Stamping now requires the marker
and the hash shape

* test(proxy): prove db auth path sets via_virtual_key marker

The stamping unit tests set the marker manually, so deleting the
assignment in _user_api_key_auth_builder would pass every existing test;
this exercises the real builder path with a mocked identity store and
fails if the marker is not set

* fix(proxy): stamp master-key requests with the master key alias

Master-key auth substitutes LITELLM_PROXY_MASTER_KEY_ALIAS for api_key
so the key and its hash never propagate; that made master-key traffic
bypass stamping and pass the caller-supplied user through. The master
path now sets via_virtual_key and the stamp gate accepts the alias
alongside the sha256 shape, so admin traffic gets the same tamper-proof
id that spend logs already record for it

* fix(proxy): restore via_virtual_key marker on key-cache hits

Cached PROXY_ADMIN auth objects early-return before the marked DB and
master-key returns, and cache serialization drops the exclude=True
marker, so cached admin traffic bypassed stamping. Key-cache entries are
written only after the proxy validated a virtual key or the master key,
so the cache-hit boundary restores the marker; the UI-login JWT fallback
constructs its token from a decrypted blob, not this cache, and stays
unmarked

a78130461f feat(mcp): gateway DCR session admission at the aggregate /mcp endpoint (LIT-3637)
Admits a keyless SSO user (no virtual key) at the aggregate /mcp endpoint from a gateway DCR
session bearer, resolving team/org/SCIM/budget authorization fresh on every call.

- Aggregate DCR front door: stateless /register (sealed llm_dcrc_ client ids), SSO-backed
  /authorize + /authorize/complete, and /token minting identity-only session tokens with PKCE,
  single-use codes/flows, and rotating refresh tokens.
- Admission: a session-shaped Authorization at the aggregate scope opens via _admit_gateway_session,
  reloads the live user, and runs the centralized policy gate; failures return the RFC 9728
  invalid_token challenge. Gated on the un-forgeable, server-only mcp_admitted_user_subject marker,
  so virtual-key and JWT auth are unchanged.
- Authorization model: an admitted subject is resolved as one plain UserAPIKeyAuth per grant source
  (its own grants, plus each team it is a live roster member of), each answered by the SAME resolver
  virtual keys use, then unioned. That branch is the FIRST statement of BOTH public resolvers, so no
  single-credential prelude runs for it and a fault in a lookup it never uses cannot deny its grants. A source team counts only while it is a live grantor: roster membership, not
  blocked, and neither the team nor its owning org over budget (enforced through the SAME
  _team_max_budget_check / _organization_max_budget_check owners common_checks uses for keys).
  Each team source carries that team's own org, so the existing org
  ceiling caps it; for a keyless source the org list only ever intersects (a ceiling must not become
  a grant) and an unresolvable ceiling denies rather than silently uncapping, on both the server and
  tool axes. _roster_team_object is the single owner of "which teams count": a team whose roster no
  longer lists the user neither grants servers nor throttles, in one place.
- Rate limits: the subject is bounded by its user rpm/tpm AND by the per-server mcp_rpm_limit of
  the team a call is ATTRIBUTED to — the same single source billing charges, from the same owner. A key charges its one pinned team's bucket; a keyless
  subject has no team_id, so admission stamps each granting team's limit map onto the auth
  (server-only field, stripped from validated input like the marker) and the limiter emits that
  team's mcp_per_team descriptor. Charging every granting team instead would let one cross-team user
  drain several teams' SHARED buckets on a single call and block their other members; and a server
  the user's OWN grant reaches charges no team bucket at all, because no team provided it. Per-KEY
  MCP limits do not apply because there is no key.
- Wrapper channels: the manager-level union treats the admitted subject by the same grant model.
  The admin-role short-circuit and the absolute no_mcp_servers early-return are key-credential
  rules and never apply to it (a session bearer is a third-party client credential, not the
  dashboard, and the subject's opt-out silences only its own source). Operator-open channels
  (allow_all_keys, the user's own BYOM submissions) are owned by one operator_open_server_ids
  helper that BOTH the server union and the admitted tool resolution consult (suppress-BYOM-when-
  explicitly-scoped is a key-credential rule and never applies to the subject, whose user row
  carries the DB-default empty mcp_servers), so an open-channel
  server is default-open for tools instead of listable but uninvokable.
- Redirect URIs: one owner, validate_redirect_uri_shape, decides redirect-URI hygiene (bad scheme,
  fragment, missing host, userinfo, backslash host) and resolves allowlisted native callbacks, shared
  by DCR registration and the OAuth endpoints. Registration keeps a deliberately wider trust policy
  than validate_trusted_redirect_uri: public dynamic registration accepts any https client, and its
  controls are mandatory S256 PKCE plus the consent screen.
- Egress leak-defense: a gateway admission credential (session bearer / bridge envelope) is scrubbed
  from EVERY egress header context, anchored to the credential shape, so it can never be forwarded
  upstream and replayed.
- Single-use guard: auth-code, refresh and connect-flow claims resolve the proxy's cross-worker redis
  cache themselves rather than trusting the cache passed in, and fail CLOSED on a Redis fault instead
  of falling back to a per-worker count that a captured id could replay through another worker.
- Sign-in return_to: one shared, never-raising helper persists a safe return_to for every sign-in
  branch (SSO/Okta/generic and username/password), and every branch RESUMES through the same
  _sso_return_to_redirect the SSO callback uses, so however a deployment signs in the stored value
  is honored identically (same-origin path directly; control_plane_url via the one-time login-code
  handoff). A stale cookie is ignored rather than failing a completed sign-in.

- Budgets, both halves: ENFORCEMENT (an already over-budget team or its owning org stops being a
  grantor, in the source gate) and ACCOUNTING (a team-derived tool call is billed to the granting
  team and ITS org, so that budget accumulates and the right organization is charged). A server the
  user's own grant reaches bills the user; when several teams grant one server the pick is the
  lowest team_id, stable and auditable. Billing rides a COPY, so authorization still sees the full
  union, and it is inert when the target server cannot be resolved from the tool name.

Deferred (tracked): client-selected server scoping of the session token (LIT-4680).

fix(proxy): populate user_email on UserAPIKeyAuth for JWT auth (#34174)

JWT auth built UserAPIKeyAuth without user_email even though the resolved
user row and the JWT email claim were both available, so the user_email
label on Prometheus metrics and user_api_key_user_email in
StandardLogging/SpendLogs metadata were always None for JWT traffic.

Plumb user_email through JWTAuthBuilderResult: auth_builder returns the
user row email when set, falling back to the user_email_jwt_field claim
(covers the scope-based proxy-admin path where no user row is loaded).
The JWT branch now stamps it on the proxy-admin return, the standard
valid_token, and the auto-registered virtual key object.

Resolves LIT-4238

refactor(auth): derive temp budget increase without mutating the token (#34121)
* refactor(auth): derive temp budget bump without mutation, tz-aware auth datetimes

_update_key_budget_with_temp_budget_increase mutated max_budget in place, so correctness depended on every resolution path handing it a fresh copy of the cached token; one future re-cache of a live token would compound the bump per request. Return a model_copy instead so no caller can leak an increased budget into shared state.

Also fixes the three remaining DTZ005 naive datetime.now() calls in user_api_key_auth.py (auth span start, builder start_time, service-log end_time; all consumers convert to epoch or subtract same-pair datetimes) and ratchets the DTZ005 strict budget 244 -> 241.

* test: pin non-mutation of the temp budget helper input

Adversarial mutation-testing showed reverting the helper to in-place mutation still passed every test: the cache's copy-on-read layer masks the mutation in the integration test and the direct unit test only inspected the return value. Assert the input object is left untouched and the result is a distinct object so the purity guarantee itself is load-bearing.

fix(auth): apply temp_budget_increase for cache-hit keys (#33841)
temp_budget_increase was only applied on the DB-fetch path of _user_api_key_auth_builder, so a key served from the auth cache reverted to its original max_budget and was wrongly blocked with BudgetExceededError once spend crossed the original budget while staying under the effective budget.

Move _update_key_budget_with_temp_budget_increase out of the DB-only branch so it runs for every resolved token regardless of source. The cache stores the original budget and each cache hit returns a fresh model_copy(), so this never double-applies.

Fixes #25760

fix(auth): set budget_reset_at when JWT upsert seeds a budget_duration (#34050)
The JWT first-login upsert in get_user_object creates the user row by
merging default_internal_user_params straight into table.create, so a
configured budget_duration landed with budget_reset_at NULL. The reset
sweep now heals such rows (PR #33623), but until the next sweep the row
shows a null reset time and its first window starts at the sweep instead
of one full duration after creation. Compute budget_reset_at at creation
like every other write path (/user/new, UI SSO, /key/generate, /team/new)
already does

c2bd8699be fix(proxy): require admin opt-in for request-body bedrock_tags
Caller-supplied bedrock_tags land as AWS resource tags under the proxy's
AWS identity, letting an authenticated caller forge ownership or
cost-allocation labels. Add bedrock_tags to _BANNED_REQUEST_BODY_PARAMS
so per-request tags need general_settings.allow_client_side_credentials
or configurable_clientside_auth_params on the deployment, matching the
aws_bedrock_project_id precedent. Deployment-level bedrock_tags in
litellm_params are unaffected.

Also stop an explicit empty bedrock_tags list in litellm_params from
falling through to optional_params

* fix(proxy): stop treating upstream model body field as a LiteLLM model on auth-enforced pass-through routes

An auth: true user-defined pass-through endpoint runs full virtual-key auth, and get_model_from_request unconditionally extracted the request body model field, so key/team/user/project model allowlist checks rejected requests whose model only exists upstream (key_model_access_denied), even when the key was explicitly granted the route via allowed_passthrough_routes.

The pass-through route registry moves to a leaf module (route_registry.py) that the auth layer can import without re-entering the pass_through_endpoints -> user_api_key_auth -> auth_utils import cycle. get_model_from_request now returns None for routes registered as user-defined pass-through endpoints (exact and subpath), which skips model allowlist and per-model budget enforcement on those routes while key auth, allowed_passthrough_routes, and spend/budget checks stay intact. Built-in provider passthrough routes (/vertex_ai, /gemini, ...) keep model enforcement.

Resolves LIT-4299

* fix(proxy): key pass-through model-access skip on the dispatched endpoint, not the request path

Addresses a model-authorization bypass: the first version decided whether to skip
model-allowlist extraction by matching the request path against the pass-through
route registry. That ignored the HTTP method and, more importantly, whether the
request was actually dispatched to a pass-through handler. A custom pass-through
whose path collides with a built-in route (e.g. /v1/chat/completions, or an
include_subpath prefix of one) still writes a registry entry even though FastAPI
serves the built-in handler, so a normal request to that route had its model checks
skipped and could reach a model outside the key/team/user/project allowlist.

The skip is now keyed off the FastAPI-resolved endpoint. create_pass_through_route
tags its handler with LITELLM_PASS_THROUGH_ENDPOINT_MARKER, and get_model_from_request
returns None only when request.scope["endpoint"] carries that marker. Because routing
runs before auth dependencies, this reflects the handler that actually serves the
request: on a collision the built-in handler is dispatched and carries no marker, so
model enforcement stays on. This also removes the need for the separate route_registry
module, so that extraction is reverted.

Regression tests cover a pass-through-dispatched request (model suppressed), a
built-in-dispatched request on the same path (model still enforced), and the no-request
budget path.

fix(proxy): stop stale auth cache re-publish so key updates and deletes propagate across replicas (#33565)
With enable_redis_auth_cache and multiple replicas, /key/update and
/key/delete delete the Redis auth blob and the handling pod's in-memory
entry, but two read-path writers re-published the stale blob from any other
replica's per-pod memory back to Redis with a fresh 60s TTL on every
request: the post-auth re-cache in user_api_key_auth and the spend writeback
in update_cache. Replicas whose in-memory entries expired then re-primed
themselves from the poisoned Redis entry, so key limit and access changes
never took effect fleet-wide while traffic continued, and a deleted key kept
authenticating.

The auth object is now written only by the DB-load paths
(IdentityStore._resolve_key, get_key_object): the post-auth re-cache is
removed outright (even a local-only write could race an invalidation and
resurrect a revoked key on this worker) and spend tracking no longer writes
the auth object back at all; spend is tracked through the spend🔑*
counters. The remaining spend writebacks for user, team, end-user, and tag
objects become local-only so they cannot republish stale management objects
either, with one deliberate exception: the proxy-wide
{litellm_proxy_admin_name}:spend scalar keeps its shared Redis write because
the global max_budget check reads it between authoritative DB reloads, and
it carries no limits or permissions so sharing it cannot resurrect an
invalidated auth blob.

DualCache's redis-to-memory read backfill also ignored default_in_memory_ttl,
pinning backfilled entries for InMemoryCache's 600s default instead of the
configured 60s auth TTL; the backfill now injects the configured default like
every write path already does, so a replica primed from Redis converges
within the auth cache TTL as well.

Consolidates the sibling stale-auth-recache branch; the delete-propagation
case is the duplicate ticket LIT-4350.

fix(auth): scope the JWT enterprise gate to actual JWTs (#33296)
With enable_jwt_auth enabled but no enterprise license (premium_user
False), the JWT premium check fired on every request before the token
was inspected, so the master key, sk- virtual keys, and the encrypted
CLI/UI SSO session token that `lite login` issues all 401'd with "JWT
Auth is an enterprise only feature" and were never decoded. That broke
`lite login`, `lite claude`, and the proxy master key on any deployment
that turned JWT auth on without a license.

Move the premium check inside the is_jwt branch so it gates only real
JWTs. Non-JWT credentials fall through to their own auth paths
regardless of license; actual JWTs still require premium, so the
enterprise gate is unchanged for the feature it protects.

61c7e706dd fix(mcp): classify get_user_object's wrapped DB outage across the exception chain
get_user_object catches every DB failure in a broad except and re-raises a bare ValueError (litellm/proxy/auth/auth_checks.py), so a real outage and a missing user look identical and the original error survives only as __context__. The dcr_bridge admission path keyed its 503-vs-401 decision on the exception type, so a transient outage during a user-subject reload surfaced as a 401 rather than a retryable 503, and the regression test injected a raw ConnectionError, a shape get_user_object never produces, so it passed on a fiction

Add PrismaDBExceptionHandler.is_database_service_unavailable_error_in_chain, which walks __cause__/__context__ (bounded and cycle-safe) the PEP 3134 way, and route _raise_503_if_db_unavailable through it. Move the user's object_permission resolution inside the single classified try so an outage there is a 503 too, never an opaque 500. Pin get_user_object's wrapping with a contract test that drives the real function, and drive the reload tests with that same faithful shape so a chain-blind regression fails them

refactor(auth): resolve PATCH team org-context from the route template
Replace the request.path_params read (and its defensive getattr guard) with
the route template. A real Starlette request always exposes path_params, but
common_checks runs on lightweight request doubles that don't, so reading it
directly forced a getattr workaround that only existed to tolerate those
doubles.

Instead, match the route template (/team/{team_id}) to identify the RESTful
update route and take the team id from the last path segment. This drops the
path_params dependency entirely, and because the template distinguishes the
PATCH route from its single-segment siblings (/team/new, /team/list, ...), it
also avoids a spurious team lookup those routes would otherwise trigger if we
matched the resolved path shape alone.

Wire the coarse route gate so PATCH /team/{team_id} is reachable by exactly the roles that can call POST /team/update: proxy admins, org admins of the team's own organization, and JWT admins. Regular internal users and view-only proxy admins stay blocked, matching the existing endpoint

Because the team id lives in the path rather than the body, the org-context resolver now also reads it from path_team_id for the bare /team/{team_id} route, so an org admin's organization is resolved and injected the same way it already is for POST /team/update. /team/{team_id} is added to management_routes rather than the role-agnostic self_managed_routes; the latter would have opened POST /team/new to any authenticated user through the shared /team/{team_id} path pattern

An org admin updating a team budget from the Hub UI was rejected with 401, because the route gate only recognizes an org admin when the request body carries organization_id while the UI sends team_id. For /team/update, resolve the target team's organization_id from team_id before the gate runs, so an org admin of the team's own org clears the org-scoped branch without the client passing organization_id. Team admins and cross-org admins stay denied at the gate, and callers that already pass organization_id are unaffected, so the existing /team/update authorization matrix is unchanged

feat(budget): throttle keys after spend limit instead of revoking access (#31300)
Add an opt-in mode so a key that exceeds its own max_budget is throttled to a
globally configured percentage of its TPM/RPM instead of being blocked entirely.

A new litellm_settings global, budget_exceeded_throttle_percentage, sets the
fraction (e.g. 0.1 = 10%). A per-key throttle_on_budget_exceeded flag (stored in
key metadata via the existing management-endpoint metadata routing) opts the key
in. When both are set and the key is over budget, the budget check records the
percentage on a request-scoped budget_throttle_pct instead of raising, and the
rate limiter scales the key's configured TPM/RPM by it. Keys without the flag
keep hard-blocking; team/user/org budgets are unaffected.

The throttle is recomputed from the key's original limits on every request and
the decision is cleared before the auth object is cached, so it never compounds
across requests. Both the budget read-time check and the budget reservation path
honor the opt-in, and both the v3 and legacy rate limiters apply the scaling.

Enabling throttle_on_budget_exceeded is proxy-admin only. It converts an
admin-imposed hard budget block into a soft throttle that keeps spending past
max_budget, so a non-admin must not be able to self-opt-in and bypass their own
spend cap. Both /key/generate and /key/update reject a non-admin setting it to
true (update only gates the transition to enabled, so a non-admin can still edit
other fields and turn the flag off). This matches the feature being wholly
proxy-admin operated: the global percentage is admin-only too.

A key that opts in but has no TPM or RPM limit has nothing to scale, so it stays
hard-blocked rather than serving unlimited requests past its budget (fail-safe).

The global budget_exceeded_throttle_percentage is configurable from the admin UI
(Settings -> General Settings), persisted through litellm_settings so it survives
a restart, not only from config.yaml.

sync_user_role_and_teams previously computed teams_to_remove as every existing
DB membership and wiped the user out of all their teams on each request, which
also left the DB fallback nothing to resolve. Skip team removal in that case so
memberships survive and the fallback can attribute usage.

Apply the same per-team model-access check the claim-based path enforces when
selecting a DB fallback team, so a team's models restriction is no longer
bypassed; a team that cannot serve the requested model is skipped in favor of
one that can.

Drop the user's team-id list from the x-litellm-team-id membership 403 detail so
a valid-JWT caller can no longer enumerate team IDs.

* fix(jwt): load team membership on DB fallback; scope header check to provisional teams

The DB-team fallback resolved a team but never loaded its team membership
row, so per-team membership budget limits were silently skipped on that
path. _resolve_db_team_fallback now fetches the resolved team's membership
when a user_id is known and returns it, matching the claim-based path so
downstream LiteLLM_TeamMembership budget enforcement works there too.

The provisional x-litellm-team-id validation also fired on any non-None
team_id, including an RBAC role-derived one, which 403'd RBAC team flows
when the asserted team was not also a DB membership. It now runs only when
team_id actually came from the header (team_id == header_team_id).

* fix(jwt): surface DB-fallback membership lookup failures at warning level

A transient get_team_membership failure on the DB team fallback path is
recoverable: the team is still resolved and the request proceeds, just
without per-team membership budget enforcement for that request. Logging
that at debug hid a silent budget-enforcement gap from operators, so it now
logs at warning and states that enforcement was skipped. Behavior is
otherwise unchanged: the resolved team is returned with a None membership
rather than failing the request, covered by
test_resolve_db_team_fallback_survives_membership_lookup_error.

* fix(jwt-auth): tighten db-team fallback gating and passthrough enforcement

Resolves four issues in the fallback_to_db_teams path:

- _resolve_db_team_fallback now surfaces a model-access denial when memberships
  exist but none can access the requested model, instead of always returning
  the no-membership message
- auth_builder gates the fallback on real JWT team claims via
  get_all_jwt_team_ids so a configured team_id_default does not silently route
  claimless tokens to the default team
- A team selected only via _resolve_db_team_fallback is re-validated against
  the team's allowed_passthrough_routes; the earlier gate ran while team_id
  was still None
- sync_user_role_and_teams considers both plural and singular team claim
  shapes when reconciling DB memberships so singular-only tokens
  (Okta/Auth0 defaults) no longer leave stale teams behind

* fix(jwt): don't upsert a provisional x-litellm-team-id before membership check

When fallback_to_db_teams is on and the JWT carries no team claims, an
x-litellm-team-id header is accepted provisionally and only validated against
the user's DB memberships later in auth_builder. With team_id_upsert also
enabled, get_team_object ran the upsert on that unvalidated header team first,
so an attacker-supplied header could create an orphaned team row before the
403 membership check. Suppress the upsert whenever the team is provisional
(db_team_fallback), since a genuine membership team already exists and an
invalid one must not be created. Regression:
test_auth_builder_provisional_header_team_is_not_upserted.

* fix(jwt): pin RBAC-asserted team against db-team-fallback header override

When a JWT carries an RBAC team role but no group claims, auth_builder already
sets team_id from the RBAC object_id. db_team_fallback still evaluated true
there, so the provisional x-litellm-team-id path accepted a header team and
silently overrode the RBAC-asserted team with any team the caller belonged to.
Gate db_team_fallback on team_id being unset, and drive the header's provisional
acceptance off db_team_fallback rather than the raw flag, so an RBAC token plus
a non-claim header team is rejected with 403 instead of substituting the team.
Regression: test_auth_builder_header_cannot_override_rbac_team_under_db_fallback.

* fix(jwt): scope dual-claim membership sync to fallback_to_db_teams

The membership sync read both plural and singular JWT team claims via
get_all_jwt_team_ids unconditionally, which silently changed reconciliation
for every deployment using sync_user_role_and_teams, not just those opting
into fallback_to_db_teams: a singular-only IdP token that previously stripped
all DB teams would now be recognized. Gate the dual-claim read on
fallback_to_db_teams so flag-off deployments keep the upstream plural-only
behavior, honoring the PR's contract that existing deployments are unchanged.
Regression: test_sync_user_role_and_teams_singular_claim_only_recognized_under_flag.

* fix(jwt): drop user team IDs from db-fallback model-access 403 detail

The model-access-denied 403 in _resolve_db_team_fallback echoed the user's
full DB team-id list in its detail. It is only the caller's own memberships,
but it is inconsistent with the membership-validation 403 in the same feature
that was deliberately scrubbed of team IDs. Replace the enumerated list with a
generic "no team you are a member of has access" message. Regression extends
test_resolve_db_team_fallback_distinguishes_no_membership_vs_model_denied to
assert the team id is absent from the detail.

* fix(jwt): keep db-team fallback off for alias-only tokens

* test(jwt): cover alias-only token skipping db-team fallback

The autofix in ed21199 added a get_team_alias clause to the db_team_fallback
gate so an alias-only JWT (team_alias_jwt_field set, no team-id claims)
resolves its alias via find_and_validate_specific_team_id instead of being
mis-attributed to the user's first DB team, but it shipped without a
regression test. This drives auth_builder with an alias-only token whose
alias resolves to a different team than the user's DB membership and asserts
the result is the alias-resolved team; reverting the get_team_alias clause
flips the result to the DB-membership team, so the test fails without the fix

* fix(jwt): prefer alias resolution over team_id_default

When the JWT only carries an alias claim and the operator configures
team_id_default, JWTHandler.get_team_id silently substitutes the
default into find_and_validate_specific_team_id. That made the helper
return the default team without ever attempting alias resolution, so
spend and access attached to the default team even though the token
identified a different team via its alias. Use get_all_jwt_team_ids
(which ignores team_id_default) to detect when the resolved team_id is
only the default and clear it so alias resolution runs first; the
default remains the fallback when no alias claim is present.

* fix(jwt): enforce team_allowed_routes in db-team fallback resolution

The claim-based path runs allowed_routes_check when selecting a team, but
_resolve_db_team_fallback selected a team purely on model access, so a
DB-resolved team could reach routes excluded by team_allowed_routes with no
downstream backstop. This mirrors the claim path's route gate in the fallback,
exempting auth-enforced passthrough routes that are gated separately by
allowed_passthrough_routes at the call site

* fix(jwt): enforce team_allowed_routes on header-team db fallback path

The auto-pick DB-team fallback already gates against team_allowed_routes, but a claimless JWT presenting x-litellm-team-id under fallback_to_db_teams set team_id directly from the header and only re-validated DB membership afterwards, skipping the route gate. A caller could reach management/info routes that the JWT config narrowed for team-role callers by supplying the header even though the auto-pick path on the same route returns no team.

* refactor(jwt): narrow db-team fallback except clauses to actual failure types

* fix(jwt): collapse provisional header team lookup failure into membership denial

A caller holding a valid claimless JWT under fallback_to_db_teams could
distinguish nonexistent teams (404 from get_team_object) from existing
teams they do not belong to (membership 403) by varying x-litellm-team-id,
giving an authenticated team-id existence oracle. The provisional header
path now rewrites the lookup failure into the exact 403 the membership
check raises, while claim-backed header teams keep the upstream 404.

Also drop the unreachable falsy-team guard in _resolve_db_team_fallback
(get_team_object returns a team or raises, never None) and stop codecov
carryforward for three dead flags whose stale sessions were measured
against old file revisions and sank patch coverage with phantom
executable lines

any model via /chat/completions while seeing an empty model list.

Add team_id is not None guard to both bypass conditions so teamless
keys fall through to can_key_call_model, which already correctly
rejects unresolvable all-team-models sentinels

fix(proxy): restore admin key/team callback_vars.turn_off_message_logging override (LIT-3587) (#31905)
The security fix in 34e9be1ba7 removed turn_off_message_logging from
_supported_callback_params to stop callers bypassing global redaction via
the request body. That also killed the documented admin-only per-key or
per-team override because both flows resolve through the same allowlist
in initialize_standard_callback_dynamic_params.

Put turn_off_message_logging back in _supported_callback_params so an
admin-configured metadata.logging[].callback_vars.turn_off_message_logging
survives into StandardCallbackDynamicParams and can override the global
setting for that key or team, as documented at
docs/proxy/team_logging#disableenable-message-redaction.

Consolidate the metadata traversal so the extractor and the proxy strip
walk the same set of client-controllable slots. iter_client_callback_metadata_dicts
in litellm_core_utils/initialize_dynamic_callback_params.py is the single
source of truth for metadata, litellm_metadata, and litellm_params.metadata;
_strip_client_message_redaction_opt_out imports it so a future addition
to one side automatically reaches the other. The extractor iterates the
helper in reversed order so litellm_params.metadata keeps overriding
metadata, matching the pre-refactor merge precedence.

Client bypass stays blocked. Restoring the field re-enrolls it in the
auth layer's _BANNED_REQUEST_BODY_PARAMS (derived from
_supported_callback_params via _build_banned_observability_params), so
client submissions at the top level, inside metadata, or inside a
JSON-string litellm_metadata all 401 at ingress. is_request_body_safe
also now descends into litellm_params.metadata for the same 401 defense
against the nested-body attack vector, matching how the metadata and
litellm_metadata slots are handled. _strip_client_message_redaction_opt_out
runs after the litellm_metadata JSON parse and before the admin callback_vars
unpack, so admin values survive while any leftover client-supplied
opt-out is dropped when global redaction is on and the key or team
lacks allow_client_message_redaction_opt_out.

Flip the two dynamic-param e2e tests added by the security fix to
reflect the restored override behavior, keeping the invariant that
proxy client bypass is stopped by the auth layer 401 above.

fix(proxy): extend banned-params + admin-clear lists for NVIDIA Riva (VERIA-493) (#31742)
Two NVIDIA-Riva-specific fields consumed by the audio-transcription
handler via the provider's `optional_params` passthrough were not
covered by the proxy's existing banned-request-body list or the
admin-config clearing list applied on `api_base` BYOK override:

* `nvcf_function_id`
* `use_ssl`

Add both to `_BANNED_REQUEST_BODY_PARAMS` in
`litellm/proxy/auth/auth_utils.py` and to the kwargs-only list in
`_admin_config_fields_to_clear_on_base_override()` in
`litellm/router_utils/clientside_credential_handler.py`, next to the
analogous provider-specific entries already there (`aws_bedrock_*`,
OCI provider fields, etc.). Same admin opt-ins as every other entry
on those lists (`general_settings.allow_client_side_credentials`
proxy-wide, or `configurable_clientside_auth_params` per deployment).

Regression tests in `tests/test_litellm/proxy/auth/test_auth_utils.py`
cover root-level rejection, the historical `api_key` bypass, both
admin opt-in paths (proxy-wide and per-deployment), nested-container
smuggling via the existing recursive walk, and clearing on
`api_base` override. Mutation check verified.

perf(auth): gather independent pre-call budget-enforcement reads (#31604)
increment_spend_counters was parallelized in #31578, but the dominant
per-request cost under high concurrency is the pre-call budget enforcement
in common_checks, which still ran a Redis-first get_current_spend per scope
(team, team windows, key windows, org, tag, user, team member, end user)
one sequential await after another inside the auth span.

The per-scope reads target distinct counter keys with no cross-scope
ordering dependency, so they now run concurrently under asyncio.gather.
Key metadata.tags injection still runs before the gather so the tag budget
check sees it, and every scope settles before the first error in
scope-priority order propagates, preserving the previous rejection semantics.

fix(proxy/auth): honor user_api_key_cache_ttl for management-object cache writes (#31504)
general_settings.user_api_key_cache_ttl was ignored for every management-object
write into user_api_key_cache. The configured value is propagated to the cache's
default_in_memory_ttl at startup, but DualCache only applies that default when no
explicit ttl kwarg is passed, and every management-object writer passed
ttl=DEFAULT_MANAGEMENT_OBJECT_IN_MEMORY_CACHE_TTL (60s), which always won. So keys,
teams, users, budgets, object permissions, vector stores, JWT user syncs and MCP
caches all expired after 60s regardless of the setting.

Adds get_management_object_ttl(cache) in user_api_key_cache.py, which returns the
configured default_in_memory_ttl and falls back to the 60s constant only when no
default is set, and routes every management-object writer through it. The helper
takes a DualCache so it works at the many call sites that are typed UserApiKeyCache
but exercised with a bare DualCache.

Also covers the spend-update writeback in update_cache (async_set_cache_pipeline),
which hardcoded ttl=60 on the same key/user/team objects and reset an active key's
cache entry back to 60s on every priced request, so the configured TTL was never
observed for keys receiving traffic.

fix(auth): cache auth-path team object under canonical team_id key (#31418)
The auth builder cached the team object under the raw `valid_token.team_id`,
while `get_team_object`, `_cache_team_object`, and `_update_team_cache` all read
and write under `team_id:{id}`. The raw-key write was therefore never served
back, and on a non-team (personal) key, whose team_id is None, the original
unguarded version passed a None key straight to the cache layer; the in-memory
cache tolerates None keys but Redis rejects them with a NoneType key error, so
with `enable_redis_auth_cache: true` the team object never reached the L2 cache
and every request fell back to Postgres.

Write under the canonical `team_id:{id}` key, keeping the existing guard that
skips the write when team_id is None. Add a regression test that drives the real
auth builder for a team-scoped key against an in-memory cache and asserts the
team object is served back under `team_id:{id}` and never under the raw team_id
or a None key.

* fix(cli): mint per-session agent credential on lite login

The `lite login` command was producing a shared UI session token that broke agent use in three ways: a $0.25 budget cap (from max_ui_session_budget) that killed agent sessions in minutes, a fixed identity "cli-jwt-token" shared across every user preventing per-session spend attribution, and auth gated behind EXPERIMENTAL_UI_LOGIN so the token was rejected on default deployments.

This fixes all three. Each login now generates a unique cli-session-{uuid} token with no per-key budget cap (enforced via shared team/user counters instead), and the decrypt path activates for any non-sk- token without requiring EXPERIMENTAL_UI_LOGIN.

* fix(cli): address review feedback on EXPERIMENTAL_UI_LOGIN gate and e2e test

Restore EXPERIMENTAL_UI_LOGIN=false as an explicit opt-out: operators who set it to false keep the old boundary; unset (new default) and true both attempt NaCl decryption, which fails closed for non-blob tokens.

In the e2e test: replace the silent Redis fallback with pytest.skip so a missing Redis instance is explicit rather than silently degrading to a directly-minted token. Write the seeded flow back as JSON (proxy reads it via json.loads on cache fetch) instead of Python repr, and build the updated flow immutably.

* fix(key-management): cap CLI session token delegation budget to team ceiling

A CLI session token intentionally carries max_budget=None to avoid a per-session LLM spend cap. The key-generation delegation check (GHSA-q775-qw9r-2r4g) previously skipped non-admin callers with max_budget=None, treating them as having unlimited delegation authority. This allowed any internal user with a lite login session to mint virtual keys with arbitrary budgets.

Adds is_session_token=True to UserAPIKeyAuth for CLI session tokens and uses the caller's team budget as the delegation ceiling in that case, so the effective limit is min(requested_budget, team.max_budget) rather than unbounded.

* chore: regenerate dashboard OpenAPI types

The is_session_token field added to UserAPIKeyAuth cascades to the
dashboard schema. Regenerate types from the updated OpenAPI spec.

* fix(key-management): block personal key budget delegation from CLI session tokens

When team_table is None (personal key, no team_id in request), the personal key
has no team-budget enforcement at request time. A session token therefore cannot
delegate any explicit max_budget for a personal key -- that would open a budget
bypass path. Block the request with a clear 400 directing the caller to use a
team_id instead.

* test(auth): add unit coverage for non-admin CLI session token production path

* fix(type-check): use model_validate in _return_user_api_key_auth_obj to fix reportArgumentType gate

UserAPIKeyAuth(**user_api_key_kwargs) spread triggers a basedpyright
reportArgumentType error for each named field in UserAPIKeyAuth because
the dict's inferred value type (str | Span | LitellmUserRoles | Unknown)
is not assignable to each field's specific type. Adding is_session_token:
bool introduced +2 more such errors, breaching the gate cap.

model_validate accepts an untyped dict without per-field argument checking,
which eliminates the +2 new errors and also ratchets down the pre-existing
333 errors at those call sites. basedpyright-code-budget.json is updated
to reflect the new lower baseline (1814, down from 1934).

environment, raising many ceilings vs the merge-base and failing the
non-gating budget_ratchet_check. Restore staging's values for every

reduction from switching to model_validate in _return_user_api_key_auth_obj.

CLI session tokens were missing max_budget, so _virtual_key_max_budget_check
had no per-session ceiling to enforce. Operators relying on max_ui_session_budget
could be bypassed for the full token lifetime. Mirrors the existing UI token path.

max_ui_session_budget defaults to $0.25 and is sized for the UI chat

configured are unaffected and continue to rely on the shared counters.

The get_user_object and get_team_object async calls in cli_poll_key were
not mocked in the existing test, causing MagicMock await errors. Patch

Bugbot autofix (60b81fb8) removed the user/team budget lookup in
cli_poll_key and stopped passing max_budget to the session token,
making CLI sessions fully uncapped whenever neither the user nor the

That reintroduces the unbounded-spend bypass veria flagged as High
("CLI session budget bypass"): on deployments that rely on
max_ui_session_budget rather than per-user/team budgets, a completed
lite login could run LLM calls with no ceiling for the whole token
lifetime. The fallback only applies when no other budget bounds the
session, so users and teams with a configured budget are unaffected and
keep relying on their shared counters.

* feat(mcp): add mcp_xff_num_trusted_hops to harden XFF client IP resolution

MCP per-server IP access control reads the client IP from X-Forwarded-For
and trusts the leftmost entry. Behind an append-style proxy or load
balancer (AWS ALB, nginx with $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for, HAProxy, Envoy,
Cloudflare), a client can prepend an arbitrary value to the header, so the
leftmost entry is attacker-controllable even when the direct peer is a
trusted proxy. An attacker can therefore spoof an internal IP and reach
servers marked available_on_public_internet=false.

This adds an optional mcp_xff_num_trusted_hops general setting modelled on
Envoy's xff_num_trusted_hops. When set to N, the client IP is read N entries
from the right of the chain (where N is the number of trusted appending
proxies in front of the gateway) instead of the leftmost value, so any
entries a client prepends are ignored. It composes with mcp_trusted_proxy_ranges,
which still validates the direct peer, and only takes effect once that check
passes; without a validated direct peer the gateway keeps failing closed, so
hop counting cannot be abused by a direct-to-pod attacker. The chain must
contain at least N valid entries or resolution fails closed.

Default is unset, preserving existing behaviour.

A 0 or negative value is silently treated as disabled, which could leave

A present-but-invalid mcp_xff_num_trusted_hops (non-integer, or below 1)
previously made _resolve_num_trusted_hops return None, which the caller

leftmost X-Forwarded-For value. An operator who set the value to harden
client IP resolution but typo'd it would get weaker security than before,
with no fail-closed signal.

Model the setting as a tagged union (_HopCountUnset, _HopCountInvalid,
_HopCount) so the three states are distinct: unset keeps the legacy path,
a valid count drives hop-counting, and an invalid value fails closed
(returns "") instead of reverting to the spoofable leftmost address. The
caller matches on the union exhaustively.

Add a parametrized regression test asserting get_mcp_client_ip returns ""
for 0, -1, "abc", and 1.5 even with a spoofed internal leftmost entry,
and update the resolver unit tests for the new return type.

When a request carries an X-Forwarded-For header but use_x_forwarded_for is
unset, get_mcp_client_ip silently falls back to the direct peer's IP (the load
balancer / reverse proxy). That peer almost always sits inside
mcp_internal_ip_ranges, so the 'Internal network only'
(available_on_public_internet: false) restriction trusts every external caller
as internal and effectively exposes those servers.

Emit a one-shot loud error pointing the operator at use_x_forwarded_for instead
of hard-failing: on a deployment with no load balancer, a crafted
X-Forwarded-For header must not be able to take the service down, and a one-shot
log keeps a flood of crafted headers from spamming the logs.

* fix(mcp): re-arm XFF-disabled warning on config change and harden test assertion

Address PR review: tie the one-shot warning flag to the observed
use_x_forwarded_for value so it re-arms whenever the setting is seen enabled,

_mask_value did partial reveal by showing the first visible_prefix and last

A value of exactly 8 chars fell through the length guard and computed
masked_length == 0, reconstructing the original string with no mask characters;
anything shorter hit the early return. Either way short credentials were emitted
in plaintext.

mask_dict routes real secrets through this path, so an 8-char-or-shorter redis
password, api key, or token could be written to logs and the UI unmasked. The
sibling helper mask_sensitive_keys already guards this case; _mask_value now does
the same by fully masking any value at or below the threshold.

* fix(sensitive_data_masker): add mask_short_values opt-out for truncation callers

Fully masking short values is the right default for secret masking, but
CooldownCache reuses the masker purely to truncate exception messages to the
first 50 characters, and it relies on short messages being returned readable.
Masking those blanked out short exception text and broke its tests.

Add a mask_short_values flag (default True, secure) and have CooldownCache pass
False so it keeps the truncation behavior, while every secret-masking caller
still gets short values fully masked.

* fix(mcp_debug): opt out of short-value masking to keep diagnostic token preview

MCPDebug uses the masker to preview auth tokens in debug headers and documents
that values of 10 chars or fewer are shown unchanged so token types stay
distinguishable. Pass mask_short_values=False so that diagnostic behavior is
preserved while secret maskers keep masking short values.

Earlier this masker opted out of short-value masking to keep a token preview, but
that echoes short authorization and token values verbatim in debug response
headers, which is the same leak this change is meant to close. Auth material

character preview still applies to longer tokens. Only CooldownCache keeps the
opt-out, since it truncates exception text rather than masking secrets.

Fireworks AI deprecated audio inference on 2026-06-10
(https://docs.fireworks.ai/updates/changelog#audio-inference-and-image-generation-deprecation).
Live API testing confirms the endpoint is already non-functional: a valid
Fireworks API key receives HTTP 401 "Unauthorized" from
api.fireworks.ai/inference/v1/audio/transcriptions for every request,
regardless of payload. The audio-prod.api.fireworks.ai host referenced in
the test suite returns 401 for every path; the entire host is decommissioned.

Remove the dead FireworksAIAudioTranscriptionConfig class and every
reference to it across the codebase:

- Delete litellm/llms/fireworks_ai/audio_transcription/ directory (17-line
  config class that inherited from OpenAIWhisperAudioTranscriptionConfig)
- Remove the Fireworks branch from
  ProviderConfigManager.get_provider_audio_transcription_config() in
  litellm/utils.py; update the stale comment in
  get_optional_params_transcription that referenced fireworks ai

2. The correct model ID is passed in the streaming chunks.
3. A streaming chunk with the fallback error can be optionally sent back
    to the client (opt-in) by passing `include_fallback_errors: true` in
    the request.

The format of the fallback errors while streaming is intentionally OpenAI
compatible to not break existing libraries that parse these events. It was
tested with Vercel's AI SDK (ai-sdk.dev). It is also opt-in, so it is not
delieved unexpectedly to callers by default.

LiteLLM attaches reasoning_content and thinking_blocks to assistant
responses. Replaying those assistant turns verbatim forwarded the fields

calculator reads the same field per request with no division (its
docstring calls it "the per-request cost").

The division understated search cost by 1000x on every Perplexity call
that falls back to manual calculation (i.e. when the API does not return
a pre-computed usage.cost). Use the value directly.

Update the tests that had encoded the /1000 factor in their expectations,
and drop an unused import flagged by ruff in the touched test file.

base64 data URL, so the conversion path is exercised deterministically with
no network dependency. This suite runs under VCR, which is why a transport
level mock (respx) does not reliably intercept; mocking the client object
itself is robust regardless.

Google removed the output-only role field from the Interaction schema (it
now lives only on Turn), so the live OpenAPI compliance canary started
failing with 'role' not in spec. Reconcile our generated types by removing

fix(passthrough,streaming): recover cost on interrupted and agentic Anthropic streams (#31035)
Streaming and pass-through requests could be logged with $0 cost or dropped from
SpendLogs entirely while the upstream provider still billed every token. This
closes the leak paths not already covered by #30160, #30787 and #30788.

- Catch a stream_chunk_builder raise in the core CustomStreamWrapper (sync and
  async). Large agentic tool-use / thinking streams can make assembly re-raise
  as APIError from inside the except-StopIteration handler, where the sibling
  except does not catch it, so it escaped __next__/__anext__ and dropped the
  request; recover best-effort usage from the raw chunks instead
- Add a usage-only fallback for Anthropic streaming pass-through: when
  stream_chunk_builder returns None or raises, rebuild usage from the
  message_start / message_delta SSE events via AnthropicConfig.calculate_usage so
  cache, web-search and geo tokens are priced instead of left at $0
- Decode buffered pass-through bytes with errors="replace" so a stream cut
  mid-multibyte-sequence still logs the usage events already received
- Record response_cost into model_call_details on the pass-through success path
  (it is read from there, not from kwargs), matching the gemini/cohere/openai
  handlers
- Name the key (alias + masked key) in the virtual-key BudgetExceededError so
  operators don't have to reverse-map spend back to a key

Bugbot's autofix added a pre-seed of litellm_metadata in
_run_centralized_common_checks before apply_client_tag_policy_pre_auth, so
x-litellm-tags header tags land in litellm_metadata and stay visible to
_tag_max_budget_check on LITELLM_METADATA_ROUTES. Its test replayed that call
order in the test body, so removing the production call site still passed.

Add a wiring-level regression that drives the real _run_centralized_common_checks
and asserts header tags land in litellm_metadata (not metadata) for bedrock and
/v1/messages. Dropping the pre-seed call site now fails the test.

* fix: validate proxy request body and nested fields

Ensure caller-supplied request fields cannot override server-side deployment
configuration, and apply request-body validation consistently to nested
structures. Adjusts router kwarg handling and client-side credential handling
for base-url overrides

* test: cover router strip ordering and advisor clientside credential gate

When a request overrides api_base/base_url, recompute the deployment's
litellm_params (clearing the deployment's own api_key) and drop the cached
client built for the original endpoint, so the deployment credential is not
reused for the client-supplied endpoint. Adds regression tests that assert the
credentials actually forwarded to litellm.completion/acompletion.

* fix(proxy): require api_key alongside api_base override

A request that overrides api_base/base_url but supplies no api_key still
left the proxy carrying a server credential: once the override clears the
banned-param opt-in, the provider re-resolves a key from the environment
(api_key or get_secret("OPENAI_API_KEY") and ~30 sibling chains in
main.py) and forwards it to the caller-controlled URL. Popping the
deployment api_key only changed which server key leaked.

Gate is_request_body_safe so a permitted api_base/base_url override must
also carry a non-empty caller api_key; reject otherwise. The env
resolution in main.py is left as the provider boundary.

* fix(proxy): extend request-body banlist with five additional credential and session targeting fields

Yuneng's review found five deployment-owned request-body params still missing
from the denylist and the router strip set. Each lets a caller reach the
operator's provider credentials or retarget the outbound request:
aws_profile_name selects a local AWS profile, oci_compartment_id and oci_region
retarget the OCI request, litellm_credential_name selects any server-loaded
credential by name with no ownership check, and runtimeSessionId resumes a
Bedrock AgentCore runtime session (AWS does not enforce session-to-user
mapping, so this is a cross-tenant session-resume vector).

Add all five to _BANNED_REQUEST_BODY_PARAMS in auth_utils.py and to
_DEPLOYMENT_OWNED_CREDENTIAL_KWARGS in router.py. Deployment litellm_params and
SDK direct calls are unaffected: the banlist gates the request body only, and
the router strip drops caller kwargs, never deployment["litellm_params"].

* test: rename arbitrary canary values in security tests to neutral placeholders

* fix(proxy): apply api_key co-presence to nested base override and warn on Router credential strip

P1-A: is_request_body_safe descended into _NESTED_CONFIG_KEYS
(litellm_embedding_config, extra_body) for the banned-param check but not for
the api_key co-presence check, so a base override smuggled into one of those
nested dicts cleared the client-side-credentials opt-in without a paired
api_key and let the provider re-resolve a server credential from the
environment. Run _check_base_override_has_api_key on each nested config dict
too, so the requirement applies wherever a base override is permitted.

P1-B: the deployment-owned credential strip in the Router runs unconditionally
on every _completion/_acompletion, which is security-correct but silently
drops per-call api_version/vertex_project/etc. for SDK Router callers. Emit a
single warning (key names only, never values) when the strip removes a
non-empty value, so the backwards-incompatible behavior is visible without
gating the strip on a context flag that does not exist.

* fix(proxy): apply api_key co-presence to tool-entry base override

is_request_body_safe scans three surfaces (root, _NESTED_CONFIG_KEYS, and
tools[]); the previous commit extended the api_key co-presence rule to root
and nested config dicts but not to tool entries. With
allow_client_side_credentials enabled, a tool entry carrying api_base/base_url
and no paired api_key cleared the gate, letting a provider interceptor fall
back to a server-side credential for a caller-controlled URL. Add the same
_check_base_override_has_api_key call to each tool dict and its nested function
dict, mirroring the symmetry already applied to the nested config keys. The
rule is unchanged: api_key must live in the same dict as the base override it
accompanies.

feat(auth): resolve caller identity once into a Principal at the auth seam (#30887)
Introduce a single, typed caller identity that is resolved once at the auth
boundary and read by reference downstream, instead of being re-derived from a
50-field key object or rebuilt from request metadata.

What this adds (litellm/proxy/auth/resolvers/), organized by responsibility:
- Principal: a small, frozen, identity-only value type (user / organization /
  teams / project / end-user / roles / scopes / network), with its sub-models
  and the role mapping. No budget or policy state; those stay on the key object.
- DbIdentityStore: the auth flow's resolver, owning both halves of resolving a
  caller. resolve_key does the one combined_view lookup (cache, then DB via the
  shared lower-level helpers, then write-back) and returns the key object, which
  still flows for budget / rate-limit / policy unchanged. principal_from_key
  projects the identity slice of that key object into a Principal, issuing no
  lookup. user_api_key_auth resolves every key through the store rather than
  calling get_key_object directly; auth_checks.get_key_object stays as the legacy
  entrypoint for its other callers until they migrate.
- network: the X-Forwarded-For / trusted-proxy CIDR primitives live here in one
  place. trusted_proxy_utils now imports them rather than keeping a second copy.

At the seam, user_api_key_auth projects one per-request Principal off the
resolved key object and stamps the request network context onto it once
(X-Forwarded-For is trusted only when trusted_proxy_ranges is configured). It is
attached to request.state.principal for the downstream consumers later phases
add. The projection is additive and defensive: a failure never rejects an
already-authenticated request, and a missing principal must be treated as deny
by any future reader. The Principal is always identifiable (credential_ref and a
stable subject off the token), never anonymous.

This is additive and changes no behavior today; it is the identity foundation
the spend-attribution and authorization phases build on.

Delete the in-product survey and Claude Code feedback prompts end to end.

Frontend: remove the src/components/survey/ module, the index page's nudge
state/effects/handlers, the getInProductNudgesCall helper, and the orphaned
"Disable UI nudges" toggle in the admin UI Settings page; prune the stale
eslint-suppressions entries.

Backend: remove the now-dead /in_product_nudges route, the InProductNudgeResponse
type, and the disable_ui_nudges UI setting (Field + allowlist). Nothing read it
for logic and the UISettings model is extra="allow", so existing stored configs
are unaffected (the value is just no longer surfaced). schema.d.ts is regenerated
and the two tests covering the removed route/setting are dropped.

fix(proxy): enforce budgets against authoritative DB spend when the cross-pod counter is unreliable (#30684)
Some checks failed
Agent Shin — rollout heads-up (one-shot) / heads-up (push) Has been cancelled
Budget enforcement reads spend from the cross-pod Redis counter via get_current_spend, which trusted the counter whenever Redis returned a value. A Redis instance that restarts and reloads an older RDB snapshot (the customer's logs repeat "Redis is loading the dataset in memory") comes back with a stale-low counter; that read is a hit, not a clean miss, so the existing DB reseed never ran and a key kept getting admitted even though its recorded spend was already over max_budget. The symptom was recorded spend sitting above the limit while requests kept succeeding.

Read-time enforcement: get_current_spend takes an optional max_budget and, when the counter would admit the request but reads below this caller's last-known recorded spend, re-reads the authoritative spend and enforces against the higher value. The authoritative source depends on the counter: key/team/user/org/team-member read the DB row, per-window budgets aggregate spend logs, and end-user/tag have no DB row so the caller's freshly-loaded recorded spend is used. Healthy primary counters and freshly reset keys stay off the DB path, and the value is cached in-process for a few seconds, so a persistently stale counter drives at most one read per counter per window. When the DB value is higher, the counter is repaired with a monotonic, atomic set-max (RedisCache.async_set_max) so every worker reads the corrected total and a concurrent increment is never clobbered.

Reconcile no longer fails open: when the post-call reservation reconcile found the counter missing or an adjustment that would drive it negative, it deleted the counter and continued (the deletion is what left counters nil/unenforced after a Redis reload). It now reseeds from the DB's lagging authoritative floor instead of deleting; the monotonic set-max can only raise a stale-low counter, and the read-time floor converges to the true total as the spend buffer flushes. The pre-call admission resize path keeps its original fail-closed behavior.

Opt-in strict enforcement: general_settings.fail_closed_budget_enforcement (default False) makes the authoritative re-check run for every budgeted entity (closing the gap where a stale-low counter and a stale-low cached fallback would otherwise both pass the cheap guard), and rejects a request with 503 when the spend backing an admit decision can be verified against neither Redis nor the database. Default behavior is unchanged; the re-check stays bounded by the in-process cache.

entirely - obtaining an ephemeral token for a model it is not allowed to use.

Extract session.model for the realtime client_secrets/calls routes so the
model-access check runs against the model the request will actually use.
Legitimate callers are unaffected; their permitted model still validates.

A streaming response that terminates with a mid-stream read timeout, a task
cancellation (client disconnect), or GeneratorExit never closed the underlying
aiohttp ClientResponse. aiohttp only auto-releases the connector slot at body
EOF, so each abnormally terminated stream permanently leaked one slot from the
shared TCPConnector pool. During a backend traffic spike the pool drains; once
exhausted every subsequent request to that host waits for a slot, times out
and surfaces as a 408, indefinitely, even after the backend recovers. Only a
proxy restart cleared the in-memory sessions, which matched the reported
symptom of a router stuck returning 408 for a healthy vLLM backend.

Close the response in a finally clause when iteration ends. On a fully read
response the connection was already released at EOF and close() is a no-op,
so keep-alive reuse for normal requests is unchanged.

`str(original_exception)` to populate the human-readable error message
stored in `spend_logs.metadata.error_information.error_message`.

`ProxyException` (litellm/proxy/_types.py:3453) sets `self.message` in
its constructor but does NOT call `super().__init__(message)` and does
NOT define `__str__`. As a result, `str(ProxyException(...))` returns
the empty string, and every auth/budget/quota rejection was landing
in spend_logs with `error_message=""` despite a fully populated
traceback.

Operator impact: dashboard "LLM Failure" rows became untriageable —
the only way to tell a 401 from a 429 was to manually unpack the
traceback JSON via psql. Burst failure patterns (e.g. a UI session
polling with a stale token) produced 20-30 indistinguishable
`error_code=401` rows per second.

Fix: prefer the `.message` attribute (set by ProxyException and every
litellm.exceptions.* class) over `str(exc)`. The `str(exc)` fallback
is retained for non-litellm exception types, preserving prior behavior.

Test plan:
  - 2 new unit tests in tests/test_litellm/litellm_core_utils/
    test_litellm_logging.py:
    * test_get_error_information_prefers_message_attribute_over_str
    * test_get_error_information_falls_back_to_str_when_no_message_attr

error_information.error_message and corrupt the signal.

Use `is not None` so an empty string survives verbatim.

Also drop the stale `See e2e/cases/11.` comment reference — that

Regression test added: an exception with `.message=""` and a
non-empty `super().__init__()` arg must yield error_message == "".

The non-streaming /v1/messages response carries a LiteLLM-injected
usage.total_tokens = input_tokens + output_tokens that is not part of
the Anthropic API spec. This caused three problems:

1. Shape divergence with streaming on the same endpoint.
   message_delta.usage in the SSE path never carries total_tokens.
   Clients parsing both paths get two different schemas from one endpoint.

2. Shape divergence with upstream. Direct calls to
   https://api.anthropic.com/v1/messages return no total_tokens field,
   so clients using the official Anthropic SDK couldn't rely on it,
   and clients that did rely on the LiteLLM-injected one broke when
   bypassing the proxy.

3. Numerical misuse. total = input + output undercounts when
   cache_read_input_tokens and cache_creation_input_tokens are
   non-zero, because cache tokens are reported in their own fields.
   A 100k-token cached prompt with 1 non-cache input token + 200
   output tokens reports total_tokens = 201, off by ~99.8% from any
   reasonable definition of "total."

Fix: add _strip_total_tokens_from_anthropic_response in
litellm/proxy/anthropic_endpoints/endpoints.py and invoke it in the
success path of anthropic_response right before returning. Only mutates
dict-shaped responses; streaming (which already lacks the field) is
left untouched.

spend_logs / Prometheus continue to compute total_tokens internally
for billing — this fix only strips the field from the wire response.

Scope: only the Anthropic passthrough endpoint /v1/messages. The
OpenAI-shape /v1/chat/completions is unaffected.

Two P1 greptile threads on #30382:

P1 — **Backwards-incompatible removal without a feature flag**
  Stripping `usage.total_tokens` unconditionally breaks any client

  whose `.usage` is a plain dict (the most common shape — e.g.
  objects wrapping raw upstream JSON). The original
  `isinstance(response, dict)` guard skipped strip on those, so
  `total_tokens` would still hit the wire. Helper now also reads
  `getattr(response, "usage", None)` and strips when that's a dict.

  Strongly-typed Pydantic `Usage` sub-models with required
  `total_tokens` fields are still skipped — those impose type
  constraints the helper doesn't try to subvert.

Tests:
- `test_strips_total_tokens_on_pydantic_model_with_dict_usage`
- `test_flag_defaults_off`
8/8 pass locally.

Mirrors #30418's pattern (`expose_router_debug_in_errors: bool = True`,
no `os.getenv`). The `LITELLM_STRIP_ANTHROPIC_TOTAL_TOKENS` env var
introduced in the prior commit was flagged by
`tests/documentation_tests/test_env_keys.py` because the documentation
file `docs/my-website/docs/proxy/config_settings.md` lives in
`BerriAI/litellm-docs` (separate repo) and registering a new env key
requires a parallel docs PR — a friction we avoid here by exposing
the flag only as a Python attribute + `litellm_settings` config key,
both of which load through the existing proxy config plumbing without
needing the env-var registry to be updated.

No semantic change: default still False, behavior identical when set

`litellm_settings.strip_anthropic_total_tokens: true` in config.yaml.

Verified locally: env scan no longer surfaces the key; 8/8 tests pass.

HTTP-status branches. Other body codes fall through unchanged.

- Non-JSON body strings fall through to status-code mapping unchanged

elif branch was firing for any HTTP status, so a gateway response of

to BadRequestError. Same trap for 401 -> AuthenticationError.

Scoped the body-code 429 check to `500 <= status_code < 600` —
covers 500/502/503/504 (gateways wrapping upstream 429 in any 5xx
envelope) without inviting the 4xx misclassification.

Tests: parametrized table now covers 5xx (500/502/503), 4xx (400/401),
and the existing fall-through cases, asserting each maps to the
exception type that matches the HTTP status code. 50/50 pass locally.

ProxyException forwards .message verbatim to clients, so gateways were
leaking their model_name / fallback wiring in every failed call.

Fix: gate all five mutation sites on a new
`litellm.expose_router_debug_in_errors` flag (default False). Set to
True to restore upstream debug behavior for local debugging.

Why: matches the redaction posture this codebase already has for
upstream model identifiers (cf. _litellm_returned_model_name) and
removes the last common error-path leak of internal model_group names.

Breaking change marker (!): if anything parses "Received Model Group="
out of client error messages, flip the flag on or migrate to the
x-litellm-* response headers instead.

Tests: 7 cases covering each of the 5 redaction sites + the flag-on

  - test_flag_on_leaks_deployment_timeout_debug
  - test_default_does_not_leak_content_policy_fallback_hint
  - test_flag_on_leaks_content_policy_fallback_hint

Trigger details:

  - Site 1 (litellm.Timeout in _acompletion) is reached via the
    Router-supported `mock_timeout=True` + `timeout=0.001` kwargs on
    `acompletion(...)`. Cannot embed a Timeout instance in model_list
    because Router.__init__ deep-copies it and Timeout.__reduce__ does
    not preserve the required positional args.
  - Site 3 (ContentPolicyViolationError without content_policy_fallbacks
    set, in async_function_with_fallbacks_common_utils) is reached by
    passing a `mock_response=litellm.ContentPolicyViolationError(...)`
    instance via the call-site kwarg — same deepcopy-avoidance reason.

11/11 tests pass locally. Patch coverage on litellm/router.py for this
PR's diff should now be 100%.

keyed to the `srvtoolu_` id. The transform then produced a bare `server_tool_use`
(with no following *_tool_result) plus a user `tool_result` for the same id —
both invalid, so the next turn 400s:

  messages.N.content.0: unexpected `tool_use_id` found in `tool_result` blocks:
  srvtoolu_... Each `tool_result` block must have a corresponding `tool_use`
  block in the previous message.

This is the commonly-reported vertex_ai symptom where Gemini works but Claude
400s on the 2nd turn of a web-search chat.

Fix (litellm/litellm_core_utils/prompt_templates/factory.py):
- convert_to_anthropic_tool_invoke: only emit a server_tool_use when its matching
  *_tool_result is available to pair with it; otherwise skip it (a bare
  server_tool_use is itself rejected).
- anthropic_messages_pt: drop a replayed `tool`/`function` message whose
  tool_call_id starts with `srvtoolu_` (a server-executed tool produces no client
  result; a user tool_result for it is invalid).

The existing reconstruction path (provider_specific_fields present, e.g. the
litellm SDK) is unchanged, as is regular client tool_use/tool_result.

Tests (tests/llm_translation/test_prompt_factory.py):
- update test_convert_to_anthropic_tool_invoke_server_tool ->
  test_convert_to_anthropic_tool_invoke_server_tool_without_result_is_dropped

entries that had max_tokens equal to the full context window

Short-form aliases (fireworks_ai/<model>) are added for every direct
accounts/fireworks/models/ entry so cost attribution works for callers

The flag is read from optional_params (where other AgentCore params land) with a
litellm_params fallback, and accepts a bool or a config/env string ('true', '1', ...).

AgentCore Runtime is schemaless on the agent side — the agent's @app.entrypoint
parses arbitrary JSON up to 100 MB (per
https://docs.aws.amazon.com/bedrock-agentcore/latest/devguide/runtime-invoke-agent.html),

* fix: pass key_limit=None in team_member_update and patch model_cost in pricing test

team_member_update called team_info without key_limit, so the fastapi.Query
default object (not None) was passed through to get_data, which failed when
serializing it. Pass key_limit=None explicitly to avoid this.

test_get_model_info_costs patched litellm.model_cost from the local backup so
the assertion holds before the PR is merged and the remote main URL is updated.

* fix(security): validate resolved model in /realtime/client_secrets for non-transcription sessions (#30710)

Omitting both model and session.model caused the endpoint to default to
gpt-4o-realtime-preview without running can_key_call_resolved_model, so
any key could access that model regardless of its allowed-model list.

The transcription path already called can_key_call_resolved_model; this
adds the same call for the realtime path before returning.

feat(proxy): warn at startup when custom_auth skips common_checks enforcement (#30665)
When general_settings.custom_auth is configured but custom_auth_run_common_checks
is not set, project/team/org enforcement (budgets, model-level rate limits, and
model-access lists) silently does nothing for custom-auth requests, since the
centralized common_checks gate returns early for custom auth. Emit a startup
warning pointing operators at the flag so the misconfiguration is visible instead
of failing silently.
