From 8781d3748a4126df3b2046c80d7ee4be3027ac87 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Felipe Castano Date: Fri, 9 Oct 2026 14:21:43 +0200 Subject: [PATCH 1/3] feat(elevenlabs): keep word logprob, speaker, audio events, language probability and duration in transcriptions ElevenLabs speech-to-text returns a logprob and, with diarize, a speaker_id for every word, tags audio events such as (laughter), and reports language_probability and audio_duration_secs. The transcription response kept only word, start and end for each spoken word and dropped the rest, so callers could not read per-word confidence, speakers or events. Without a duration, cost tracking also fell back to decoding the uploaded file, which yields a cost of 0 when soundfile is not installed or the format is one libsndfile cannot read (m4a, webm) Each word now carries logprob, passed through unchanged, and speaker when ElevenLabs sends one, matching the speaker key xAI and Gemini already use in words. Audio events are listed in audio_events with their text, timestamps and speaker, while text stays exactly as ElevenLabs returns it. language_probability and duration (from audio_duration_secs) are added at the top level, as Deepgram and xAI already do for duration. Values that are not finite numbers, booleans and integers too large for a float are omitted rather than sent as null or NaN Tests cover each field with the values that must pass and the ones that must be omitted, keep spacing out of words and events, and check end to end through litellm.transcription that the cost is audio_duration_secs times the model's per second price even when the audio cannot be decoded. Request handling and response_format support are unchanged --- .../audio_transcription/transformation.py | 61 +++- .../test_transformation.py | 283 +++++++++++++++++- 2 files changed, 325 00:00:00 2001 From: Felipe Castano Date: Fri, 9 Oct 2026 14:47:47 +0200 Subject: [PATCH 2/3] feat(elevenlabs): accept response_format on transcriptions and synthesize srt and vtt Passing response_format to an ElevenLabs transcription raised UnsupportedParamsError unless drop_params was set, even though every OpenAI client sends it. ElevenLabs has no such field, so the value must not reach its form either response_format is now a supported param. It stays in optional_params, where the shared http handler reads it, and the request only forwards language and temperature from the OpenAI params, so the form sent to ElevenLabs is the same with or without it. The config opts into supports_subtitle_synthesis, so srt and vtt return a subtitle document built from the word timestamps. json, text and verbose_json keep returning the full response Since srt and vtt now render the timestamps, word and audio event start and end are always floats: the native value when it is a finite, non negative number that converts to milliseconds, and 0.0 otherwise. Before this an Infinity, NaN or 1e308 timestamp made subtitle synthesis raise an unmapped OverflowError or ValueError Tests check that every format is accepted without drop_params, that the multipart form is identical with and without it end to end, that srt and vtt carry the words and their timings, and that malformed timestamps no longer break subtitle synthesis --- 00:00:00 2001 From: Felipe Castano Date: Fri, 9 Oct 2026 16:57:57 +0200 Subject: [PATCH 3/3] fix(elevenlabs): keep transcription word and audio event end at or after start A word or audio event whose end ElevenLabs sends as a value that is not a finite, non negative number got 0.0 as end even when its start was valid, and a body with an end earlier than its start passed through as is. In both cases srt and vtt rendered a cue that ends before it starts, which players cannot show correctly end is now the larger of start and the sanitized end, through one helper shared by words and audio events. Valid timestamps with end at or after start are unchanged Tests cover an unusable or absent end, an end earlier than start and a usable end kept as is for both item types, and check that every srt and vtt cue starts at or before its end, including the malformed timestamps case that used to produce a reversed cue --- .../audio_transcription/transformation.py | 11 +-- .../test_transformation.py | 70 ++++++++++++++++++- 2 files changed, 76 insertions(+), 5 deletions(-) diff --git a/litellm/llms/elevenlabs/audio_transcription/transformation.py b/litellm/llms/elevenlabs/audio_transcription/transformation.py index 19a191ded6c..2a548e13dbb 100644 --- a/litellm/llms/elevenlabs/audio_transcription/transformation.py +++ b/litellm/llms/elevenlabs/audio_transcription/transformation.py @@ -47,6 +47,11 @@ def _timestamp(value: object) -> float: return seconds +def _time_span(item: Mapping[str, object]) -> Mapping[str, float]: + start: Final = _timestamp(item.get("start")) + return {"start": start, "end": max(start, _timestamp(item.get("end")))} + + def _speaker_fields(item: Mapping[str, object]) -> Mapping[str, str]: speaker: Final = item.get("speaker_id") return {"speaker": speaker} if isinstance(speaker, str) else {} @@ -56,8 +61,7 @@ def _word_fields(item: Mapping[str, object]) -> Mapping[str, object]: logprob: Final = _finite_float(item.get("logprob")) return { "word": item.get("text", ""), -
